As Ricky sang and the country band played, the camera worked its way around and focused in on some of the real country artists listening to the song. What a happy kind of sadness I had remembering many of them who have since passed away but at the same time left a legacy of songs down through the years. How appropriate and fitting it is that the camera focused in on probably the most recent of these stars who passed away but who accompanied so many well-known artists with his guitar - Jimmy Capps. You can say what you want,Ricky Skaggs brought back "country music" ,back in the early '80's when it was headed for extinction. Thank God, they played the hell out of his music then,and saved the real country music from what was turning into pop music at the time. Then most of the new '80's artists, followed his lead and most gave us some damn good music. I ran out and bought the album (on Sugar Hill Records),that featured this song after hearing it on the "Big John Trimble Show" on WRVA. Thanks Ricky, for giving us a real alternative to the pop country that was taking over the airwaves at the time.

Arthur you’re guess is as good as mine, I’m eight three years old, and unfortunately from the early sixties fo me music started to change, and as Times gone on it has got worse and worse, there is very little music that I would listen to nowadays, I mucH preferred the fifties with great melodic songs and singers , then long rock and roll, which I loved, and late forties into the sixties was fabulous country music , with the superb HankWilliams and the great Lefty Frizzell, and many more, but like the other music it slowly went down hill to, so that’s about it Arthur mind you that’s only my opinion, and I’m very Fussy.👍👍

I'm 78 and iv'e listened to country music since i was ten,Hank was my first favourite my first record was cold cold heart the big 78's it was my treasure,i played it done, then my big brother melted it down to make a flower vase he said he was sick of Hank. Well i packed my schoolbag and left home😪 😀but i was hooked on country music,i now have every song Hank ever recorded. Then i found in with George Jones , i'm surprised you didn't mention him ,it was him who took Hanks real country music forward for the next 40 years till he died 2013 like you irene i'm very fussy there's only7 singers in my country hall of fame, Scaggs is one of them but george and hank are 1 and 2 Way back Conway Twitty was into rock n roll but turned to country he's my no.3 then there's Jerry Lee he's still rocking somewhere ,but i prefer his country style he's my no.4 . Listen to him sing ONE HAS MY NAME THE OTHER HAS MY HEART goes straight to your soul.Down through the years each generation have to keep changing things i see it my country Scotland, they just don't see the good in things the way we did and music paid the price for it.there is no stories in their songs any more in fact your lucky if you can make out the words.Irene there is no way back to good music as long as we have our LP's and CD'S we can stay in our own world wherever you are stay safe.
