The Roseville Pottery pink luster candlestick is worth about $250. I collect Roseville Pottery and that tag (that looks black) was once like a silver tin-like tag that turns black with age. That candlestick is circa around 1922. GREAT score!!!!!!!!

A lot of the pieces C.L.L. finds are gorgeous and stand out instantly! But, so many just kinda blend in with all the clutter and kitch on the shop shelves, until she spots them and plucks them out and brushes them off, and then their true beauty and value is revealed! - Like the pink Roseville candlestick: because of the color, I would have mistaken that for cheap dollar store ware; but she recognized that it was something more. - She really does have a gift for what she does! - Really glad she shares it with us! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, about the Roseville piece, as well!!

I think the red stripe ribbon hung from a pocket watch. It would have hung from the outside of the pocket as the watch was anchored inside. I’ve seen many old watch fobs with that attachment.
@janellhunt83642 жыл бұрын
I agree. First thing I thought was watch fob.
@OriginalNethead2 жыл бұрын
Someone else suggested it came from a fraternal organization. I think you're both right. I've seen similar fobs made with human hair. Women used to use shed hair to make love tokens for spouses and parents etc. This ain't that, but it's the same design.

About the silver thingie: 800 is known as "German Silver", it's the the German silver standard often used instead of 925. This seems to be a "Bierzipfel": Memorabilia from the reunions of fraternities. Greetings from Germany, I'm enjoying your program immensely!
@OriginalNethead2 жыл бұрын
German silver is a trade name for nickel in countries other than Germany. The .800 silver standard was a standard in common use in central and southern Europe in the 19th century and later. Maybe earlier too. Germany, Italy, Portugal, France, etc It shows up in Egypt and the like to this day, or did the last I looked. I was thinking some sort of fraternal medal too; the military ones wouldn't have all the engraving all over them.
@fareast_de2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The small item is definitely a "Bierzipfel". The bronze cross is the "Ehrenkreuz fuer Frontkaempfer", which was donated 1934 to all WW I veterans. A very common item over here, with ribbon you can get it for around 10,- bucks. Greets from GER, U.
@julieberg88202 жыл бұрын
@@OriginalNethead Thanks for clarifying. I never saw 800 silver from anywhere else than Germany.
@annesels20282 жыл бұрын
I‘m not into war memorabilia but familiar with the Schrift…the engraving makes out two popular first names of that era…Hermann and Ilse (a male and female name…maybe this was some sort of sweetheart pin or commitment?) the bottom seems to say Weiden 27. Weiden is a Germany city. In German when a . follows a number it becomes an ordinal number (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th…27th) . It could refer to a date which would be unusual as dates include day, month and year…but maybe a military division? I can’t make out the other engravings but the style used is called Lateinische Ausgangsschrift…it is still taught today, images are available online if you want to try and make out the rest.

@persiphonehellecat2 жыл бұрын
I was married to a watch and clock maker. He passed away long ago at a very young age - but I have seen watch fobs like that. I have several that are still here from his collection. It would have hung out of a watch pocket in a vest- which would mean it would be hanging down from the hook - which seems to be the right way for it to hang to have the shield and writing pointing in the right direction. Then the watch would have had a long watch chain attached to it that would go through the buttons of the vest and over to the other pocket where it would attach to something that was tucked in the second pocket. You would pull on the fob to take it out of your pocket to read. Yes, I am sure that is a watch fob. I am pretty educated on clocks and watches if you ever need any help! PS I watched it again. That is a dog clasp - which is what a watch is attached to. And the tiny piece of chain before the ribbon is long enough to allow the ribbon to hang out of the pocket. Yep. Watch fob. And BTW the ribbon rosette is a cockade.
