What speed shutter you are using? I got my Canon ae-1 used the Kodak 200 film, after developing, I was not satisfied with the results, I’m assuming that I was using the wrong settings since I’m new to this camera

I usually list the settings in the videos at some point. But in general they're usually going to be different. If you're not sure just go with a roll set to Auto or Program (don't have one in front of me so not sure what setting would be) but just let the camera do the work and see what happens. When you do this, ALWAYS meter in the shadows to make sure you're getting enough exposure in the dark areas (unlike digital). Then you can pull back the highlights in post production. That's the rule of thumb I use. If I'm shooting manual, I tend to ADD a stop or two on top of what the meter gives me. If you shoot under-exposed it's impossible to clean up in post, but if you shoot over-exposed, film typically has the extreme flexibility to pull out blown highlights (I use Ilford black and white films and kodak color film - both are a couple stops flexible - not all films are). Hope that helps a bit. Thanks!

So did it snow recently over there or somethin'? Interestin' shots btw. Haven't shot with film since the Kodak disposable days.

nah, I've been sitting on this one for a few months. I have a lot of film videos that I haven't put out. Takes a long time to develop/edit/etc but will start rolling them out soon. It's 95 degrees f here tomorrow - my kind of weather!

@@DozierGraphic Ah I gotcha. It's great to record in batches..get to release em at ur leisure. I quit enjoy the 90s F weather as well. Perfect time to be out and get those shots.

It's a simple fix to lubricate the shutter... or you could wait until the camera seizes up completely.

Yes, I assume you're referring to the 'sneeze' that I reference at least a dozen times? lol Or the problem where it fires without the shutter being pressed? Either way, yes I agree, film cameras require upkeep that digitals don't need.

Do you like the 35-70mm lens?
@DozierGraphic Жыл бұрын
Very much so! No idea why I didn't talk more about the lens, but I like that it gives me just enough variation for a great all-around lens. I haven't done any 'sharpness' tests, etc, but when it comes to film, I don't mind a little dirt, grit, etc. To me it's part of the analog experience. Thanks for the question!!

@@DozierGraphic thanks for your response! I'm new to film and I just purchased the exact same canon ae-1 camera with the 35-70mm lens so I'm going down a rabbit hole on what to expect! I'm super excited. Now I just have to learn the mechanics of the camera.
