Honestly, I could see you making an argument for a sort of blanket “I can do anything that unlocks *underground* content” rule, sorta like Tellacon has with his chest locked series. I say this because that could justify doing things like Beneath Cursed Sands, since the “tombs” part of TOA could be argued as being similar enough to a cave to be allowed. This could of course be amended if you think it could allow for too little limitation, though. Really as long as all of your primary progression, xp grinds, big item drops, etc, happen in underground places, I personally am very willing to overlook larger exceptions to access those places.

I like this, but I think it needs a limit. Would Song of the Elves be allowed? It technically gives access to Zalc, Gauntlet, and the Iorwerth dungeon. Those are all definitely underground, but SOTE would be ridiculous. Same for MM2 with gorillas and DS2 with rune/addy dragons.

Could you consider different 'seasons' or 'eras' for the account - don't allow them until you get to a point where that above ground content and its rewards on xp would be small on comparison o what has been achieved underground, at that point opening up new opportunities to keep things fresh?

I believe the fairest approach would be to make any quest that unlocks anything underground fair game. However, to maintain integrity and fairness, we should ensure that as many items as possible required for these quests can be obtained from underground sources.

I brainstormed with some friends a sun sensitivity for above ground travel. Like desert heat or Moritania swamp but worse. Each tile requires one point of damage worth of healing food to traverse or something like that 😂 just an idea. I would almost say this is preferable to Priest in Peril since it takes place almost completely underground and has a similar tier of rewards. The only issue is that it also requires the quest to unlock Varlamore also.

So, I would have to look at other quests to see what effect they would have, but I believe priest in peril is a must. Getting to do Barrows is an absolute HAVE to do. Not to mention as an ultimate iron man you'll be super limited in your ability to continuously perform runs. You can't telly directly there, you can't hit your house to rejuvenate and restock... For you to get a full set under those parameters would be amazing

Now, I haven't done it ever, but you DO get access to the room where the latest Gielinor Games tribunal hung out, during Dragon Slayer 2, which is... An underground area! So partial completion would be neat! As with your decision on RFD being "just start it", I'd say partial completion of quests can also be a goal in itself, if not too much shenanigans happens up top. Edit: if you want any extra fishing/cooking/prayer/mining/smithing XP, Below Ice Mountain is a near one to finish too. Access to the ruins of Camdozaal, old dwarf capital that has some neat stuff that grows with you for a couple levels

Really like the concept! As others have said: I'd allow yourself to do anything that will open up more underground content. You're already allowed to travel in the overworld and restricted as a UIM, as long as you aren't actively training/obtaining anything unnecessary I think it's fair give yourself as much potential as possible. For woodcutting there IS a regular tree in the varrock sewers, or you can swing to CoX and find a ice demon first room and just chop hella trees Camdozal might be nice for some early XP and potential Desert Treasure 2 bosses Best of luck cant wait to see what comes next!

Instead of doing too many exceptions / quests you should keep yourself focused. E.g. try to stick to one area, and then, after doing a hard grind you get to unlock another area as a reward. You could even rp it like -- if you get 55 mining you can 'tunnel' through a wall into another underground area, etc.

What is the barrows minigame? You dig your way into 1-6 UNDERGROUND tombs one of which lead to an UNDERGROUND “maze”. In order to get from tomb to tomb you have to travel in the overworld which is established to be legal so long as it’s limited to travel, which it is. Priest in peril is kind of underground, the temple is built into a cliff side so it’s clear imo. In regards to runecrafting you could apply the travel rule. The earth, mind, body, law, death and ourania altars appear to be underground in their dimensions therefore you may travel to the alter in the overworld and use it since it doesn’t give exp.

A lot of "end-game" quests unlock some kind of a underground area - MM2 tunnels, myths guild, DT2 bosses, CG, raids. You could try going for a quest cape, but all items would need to be be obtained underground. If not possible you can get it above ground, but for a price (like 100-1000*GE price)

I think it could be fun to do a 'Light Tax' or something. Do something that would Incentivize you to plan your caves strategically. Something like every second spent aboveground costs you X GP you would have to drop. It would also make certain teleports useful again.

Death to the Dorgeshuun and another slice of HAM are essential. I also have an underground IM and these quests connect Lumbridge with Keldagrim. Heavy use of Mine carts after wards reducing all above ground travel to a minimum I also utilized the Catacombs of Kourend and Forthos Dungeon for their upgrades as they were very necessary for account progression Note: banshees in catacombs drop elemental battle staves

I think the best way to handle quests would be to create some arbitrary goal posts. Basically, once you've done as much as you can without doing those quests, then you can do them to unlock that content. But you should have to do everything you can first, as getting those quests done could get you an advantage for earlier content.

I'm two weeks too late but a 5 minute sun timer would be funny, basically you burn up if you're in the sun for longer than 5 minutes 23:37 but also most of the routes you access it are underground, top it off even guardians gives off a cave vibe, if it looks like a cave, sounds like a cave, and forms rock formations with water are probably caves.

Another awesome end-game goal would be something related to COX. I don't think TOA is end-game, but COX totally is, and unlocking Kourend I feel like is super important for the account. There's Skotizo, Sarachnis, Hydra, and catacombs. I feel like it's a no-brainer Also, I feel like as far as editing goes, I'd only like to see what happens underground, not the running above-ground, just since it keeps me more immersed. Feel free to narrate things you do above ground like exchanging xp cards and stuff. I also know it would be extra editing, but even something like Barrows runs only showing the parts where you're underground would really keep me immersed in the world. Also the werewolf agility course will be nice, and maybe you can unlock quests by getting requirements for them? And only doing quests that are mainly underground or something like that I also think GOTR should be unlocked, it's a really good minigame, and would be some good content. Also, not that you'll neessarily want to use it a bunch, but the mage bank in the wildy is underground and could be a good source of runes and also technically has a bank

To challenge yourself, you could lock yourself to a certain area and once you accomplish certain tasks, you can complete the quests. Or just complete the easy quests first and go from there. Priest in Peril would be a good should and same with Lost City for the convenience of travel, but perhaps just dont show us the outside travel and only show the underground areas. There are also plenty of underground areas within mountains, within the wildy etc that would be beneficial .

There IS a way to get 5 thieving without breaking your rules. you can go to the first raid added to osrs and get the thieving "puzzle" room. it doesn't have any requirements to solve and gives a L O T of experience at low levels. getting there takes a bit, but it's still faster than whatever this was. As for runecrafting, you have ZMI, since guardians of the rift is under WATER and not ground, and the altars aren't all under ground either. Mind, Earth, Body and Chaos are under ground, though I'd probably just recommend doing ZMI as it scales with your level, and noted pure essence is something you'll find in abundance down the road. I actually have an Underground only ultimate that i've been playing on and off since the tail end of Caveman Only's streaming days, named Underloam, and would be more than happy to help you theorycraft the account. Best of luck!

if you could get to lunar island, there is actually a rune essence mine underground there. also minotaurs in the stronghold of security drop noted essence, and the golems in ruins of camdozaal have a better drop rate on essence. and rune mysteries isn't needed to train runecraft, it only unlocks lamping it and tears of guthix

Rather than having the surface quests be something you can auto complete to unlock areas I'd look at locking them to goals you can complete underground especially if they match thematically for story reasons. Unlock this hard to get item, kill this boss, complete the ham set to do the ham quest stuff like that. It makes a better story. You could look at adding a rune lite mod that greys out the surface while you are up on the surface for flavor in the videos. Give your character a lore reason for avoiding the surface. You've got a decent amount of bosses you can kill underground, Obor, scurrius, ect. Good luck.

I just got here and only watched the first couple of minutes, but I think that all prerequisites to otherwise inaccessible undergrounds should be valid. You should be allowed to gain access to all underground areas for the richest experience. In addition though, any items that it's possible to obtain below-ground for these quests MUST be obtained underground.

The Temple of the Eye (GOTR location) is underwater, which is similar enough to underground I guess. But the player gets teleported to the runecraft altars, so you still have that to resolve. Same with using the abyss. You gotta decide whether runecrafting is more important than your series' conceptual integrity. I'd say train runecraft however you like, as it's perfectly possible that the rc altars' dimension is "below" everyday reality and therefore probably is "underground" (it might be "above" everything, but I don't think it's a good idea to over focus on negative elements or something similar lol).

I think you should allow yourself to unlock all underground areas, at least eventually, you could do ot in tiers, i.e. if you get a fire cape you can unlock priff. I'd also try to keep above ground footage to a minimum, that picklocking part was a bit boring tbh. I think you should allow yourself exceptions for slayer tasks and equipment, most tasks can be done underground anyway. Also, will you allow yourself a house once you can teleport to it?

I think Waterfall quest, you can get rune scim from fire giants in the cave under the waterfall

Should be able to get a rune scim from the one warriors in the Ourania alter area as well if he didn't do Waterfall
