I actually had no idea that Jagex had a plan for Fossil Island all the way back in 2006. I knew about the barge, and I knew it was going to go somewhere eventually, but as time went on, I thought that Jagex just didn't have a plan for it yet. Hopefully this video will remind people about the boss, and finally get Jagex to make it.

Fossil Island is one of the areas that really oozes passion and has well thought out activities to enjoy. And even then I've said to myself "Man I wish there was more here"

In RS3 after doing the Rag and Bone Man quests you get access to a weekly boss battle against a skeletal monster that loses limbs as you deal damage, lowering its power with each lost limb. Once it loses a limb you need to grab it from the ground and bury it to prevent reattachment. If you beat it you get a decent chunk of slayer and prayer xp, and it can drop clue scrolls and, if you're really lucky, the skeletal champion challenge scroll.

But only a small fraction of those bots of logged it at any one time, the actual number of players in osrs is still much higher than RS3 and that’s not even taking into account RS3’s bots too. You should think a bit more rationally rather than taking things at face value.

Fun Fact: In OSRS after doing the Rag and Bone Man quests, Jagex uses onomatopoeia to describe the sounds coming from inside of the sack. They settled on “Snigger Snigger” as one of the sounds.

I love the synergy between OSRS and RS3 here. OSRS has it as Fossil Island, as it's the Island found in the current time, and it's about how the island thrives after all this time. In RS3 it's a twist in that the island is Anachronia - or Orthen as the Dragonkin called it - and is pulled from the past and sits there following the destruction of the city. Instead of fossils it has living dinosaurs, and features lots of training methods including an agility course that covers the entire island, and Big Game Hunter which is a Hunter minigame that is honestly a lot of fun.

Kerapac - a well known Dactyl Dragonkin who wants to break the Stone of Jas curse - ends up with a elder god artifact that lets him affect time and he pulls the island back from the past so that he can have his old laboratory again.

Tbh I hopped on and immediately did the "Tower of Life" quest when it was released because the idea of constructing creatures to battle got me sooooo pumped... was really annoyed when I realized, I didn't have anything to do with the customization of the monster. -_-

I have a request: I've tried to find the origins of NHing PKing as we see it today (overheads, tribrid setup), like any big name KZbinrs from back in the day. I can't seem to find anything. Why NHing suddenly became so popular is also a mystery. Can you do a deep dive on that? (i.e. how did NHing as we see it today emerge?).

I don't play anymore but I was really bummed out that we didn't at least get a wyvern boss. Even it was just a demi-boss like Sarachnis. Fossil island wyverns always put a scowl on my face for slayer.

I don't know the full extent about what was promised for the fossil island boss but from what you said it straight up sounds ambitious from the get go as too good to be true, almost all games that promise a update thats super complex and unique and cool sounding almost always either cancel it or provide something thats a embarassing attempt at it. It really is unfortunate that they did a silent discontinue and it kept the hype for way too long. I agree with them on "the players would be massively disappointed if we do anything thats not what the original idea was" maybe they could find something to do with the rare fossil but it probably would be best its not something thats supposed to be a replacement like a boss if they are gonna not add the original idea. The safest thing would probably be increase the prayer gain on it by a lot. Just my take atleast.

Some of my old clan mates got to meet Maz in person at Jagex HQ. Maz was my clans jmod contact back in RS3 after we were invited to Jagex to compete in Jcup finals on stream at LAN. OSRS Fossil Island is RS3 Anachronia. There is some dialogue in some RS3 Quests that reference Anachronia used to be called Fossil island. Just some interesting nothinglore.

I never heard the name Kudos island, I remember players always calling it Fossil Island because Jagex themself had been calling it that way before 2012 either by that name or describing it as an island full of fossils. I remember it being an idea since the day I started playing in 2004 or whenever the digsite quest/area came to be (looked it up, 2003). Either in those postbag articles or something. I'd try to go back to read those but I'm way too lazy to do that big of a deep dive. I just remember other players talking about fossil island since day one of me playing.
