I understand being a tiny bit disappointed when you don’t find good stuff, that’s why we go hunting after all. But being out there by that incredible majestic , powerful ocean and all its beautiful surroundings is really a treasure and blessing as well. I find myself getting lost in my hunts and forget to take a minute to look around. I’ve made it a point to stop and appreciate where i am. I know you do that every hunt, give us all a scenic shot which is cool of you. Luckily i live by it and experience it regularly. Many folks get to live through your experience to appreciate the awesomeness 👍🏼😃

That’s right you gotta stop and enjoy the moment. When you find good stuff it’s just a bonus. Even if you hunt in fields or parks you still get to experience the outdoors and your hands dirty, which is important in this digital age.

@ So true! It's one of the reasons I started metal detecting. I live in such a beautiful place, yet found myself spending more and more time in front of the computer. I wanted to break the inertia and get out more, but not have to be social. Metal detecting is the perfect hobby for leisure, some activity, curiosity, fun, being in nature, and always being able to learn something new.

What kind of antenna do you have?

It’s the 3.5 meter on that came with the Deus 2. I’ve since switched to the 1.5m antenna and ran it up through the shaft so it’s not in the way.

You probably get this question a lot but what's your favorite detector? I grew up in the City of Orange and used to go to Newport all the time. I did Huntington from time to time as well but I liked the Newport vibe.

I like the XP Deus 2 the best. The manticore is cool too, but the Deus 2 handles the black sand a lot better. I like the Newport vibes better too 🤙🤙

Some of the beaches in the Bay Area are technically federal land and it’s technically illegal. Also I’d definitely stay out of any tide pool areas or protected wildlife sanctuaries. Other than that you’re good in CA as far as I know. I’ve gotten more hassled in parks than anywhere else.
