A CHEERLEADER who lost both of her legs in a car accident isn't giving up on doing what she loves. Sarah was travelling with friends on July 30th, 2020, when they were hit head on by a drunk driver. Sarah, who loves cheerleading, golf and swimming, was heavily sedated and her parents had to make the decision to amputate her legs due to the risk of infection.

I got rear ended by a drunk driver last summer with my whole family in the car. The jerk was so drunk he couldn’t stand. He was impossibly obscene and belligerent. I stalled him as long as possible and the cops were just in time to be totally late, the drunk sped off. Luckily we were all okay. I don’t drink and never have. Alcohol is an evil in this world they already tried to outlaw, it doesn’t work. I know people drinking is a permanent reality but I despise it and it’s terrible consequences.

There’s no way I would’ve handled that as well as she has, especially at 17! She is mature beyond her years, and that positive attitude is going to take her far! I hope she continues to be herself and inspire others, and I’m sure that she’s going to accomplish all that she wants in life.

I see this and I know I would not of handled this the way she did. I had a very small orthopedic surgery on my wrist and have developed a contracture and cannot extend my hand back like I used to before the surgery. It has been 3 months off work and not healing and I can’t fathom what I will do. This young lady- this life changing event has not altered your spirit. How does one get that? You must be born with it. I know certain people are naturally more positive but this is really something. Thanks for posting. 🙂

Drunk drivers waste lives, all that potential gone, all because someone chose to not follow the law, that's why drunk driving should be treated with the same severity as attempted murder or murder. The sentence should be life because they destroy lives, this lady is sentenced to a life hardship. As inspirational as her story is she thinks about all the capabilities that were taken from her everyday im sure.

I agree with you on drunk drivers and that it is not fair that she now has to live a completely different life because of someone’s selfish and careless decisions. With that being said, as a fellow disabled person, I can tell you her potential is not gone what so ever. She has to do things differently but she can still do many things(as stated in the video). Her life is obviously different and in many ways harder than what it was prior to the accident however that doesn’t mean her whole life will be filled with just hardship.

She had such a lovely spirit about her. She's not giving up. She's what I call a warrior and true inspiration to others who have been in similar situations like this. I imagine God has great things in store for her future. God bless this sweet young lady!

This hits home in a way. My Pappaw has been in the hospital 11 days, because he has PAD and a plaque arterial blockage, and his doctor and the 2nd opinion doctor, both said they could not save his leg because they couldn't get stent in. They even consulted the doc that would perform the amputation, and he said their only choice was to amputate. But, I talked my Pappaw into getting a 3rd opinion at the Cleveland Clinic because they have a Limb Salvage program. So, the last 11 days, they've tried 2 different procedures, trying the least invasive first. The day before yesterday, they performed the 2nd procedure, and it worked! He gets to keep his leg! My Pappaw is 80 and very active. He still works a full time job, just because he wants to, and he still does all of his own yard work and it's a large property. Losing his leg would have broke his spirit. At his age, there's so many more risks with amputation. I think a younger person would be able to adapt quicker and easier. Praise the Lord for His plan in this young girl's life, and my Pappaw's!
