Does he know how to use tree's as coverage/security? I just noticed that there was nothing for him to take refuge in so it makes sense that he would go to the hills/mountains. There was no real danger with the ravens, we get ravens/crows chasing ours in new locations as well due to them being territorial and not knowing what the heck these rainbow chickens are doing in their land. I know my guys usually just shake them off through manoeuvres or over long distance and then navigate back and or just use trees until it's safe to fly back. Your stunning little chicken may not have the navigation skills due to being so young and or was just super tired from flying that far and not having the stamina. Either way so glad you got him back :)

Jannel Calixterio Hi Jannel, Don't give up. My parrot was lost for two weeks but,she wasn't far away. I heard her while sitting on my patio. I raced over to where I'd heard her and found her. Neighbors helped me by bringing a ladder to scare her down from tree so I could get her. Dogs were trying to get her. She'd been eating blackberries.

I am really happy that you found him. I am so glad. Please never ever leave him. I went to the gym one day seeing my parrot fine and when I came back, I saw him lying in the floor. It happened back in 2005 and hate myself still today for not being with him in his last moments. I still miss him badly and when I see you in the video reuniting with your bird, I couldn't control my tears. You have a wonderful, beautiful companion. I am really glad you found him. I wish you two never ever lose each other.
@vickyabramowitz49197 жыл бұрын
CVP. Your Macaw did exactly what he was supposed to do. Hope avoided wild birds exhibiting predatory behavior. He steered clear of them. About getting lost, he's still a baby and probably didn't have enough experience free flying to know how to get back to you. So he waited for you to find him. I've been following a guy in Brisbane, Australia who free flies three of his parrots. His KZbin channel is called "Adventures of Roku". He actually has a flying club. The members usually fly their parrots in a park. It's cool because the parrots all know each other and have fun together on their outings. Maybe you could find other people who free fly their parrots and you and Hope could join them. I believe that there is safety in numbers. Also, the parrots enjoy socializing with each other and so do their humans. God bless you and Hope. Love, from Clearwater, Florida (home of Winter the Dolphin).

Wow......I'm bawling myself!!! As a mom to 3 macaws I would have been exactly like you climbing the mountain and Praying!!! So glad God answered your prayers! And so glad you found him before dark and the danger of more wild animals coming out. I am in the process of teaching my fids to fly and look forward to free flight as well. But due to the hawks we have here I am seriously thinking of GPS locators to attach while in flight or simply flying them indoors in auditoriums. It is so scary to think of the dangers but my dream is for them to be free to fly like they were created to. Again.....So glad your baby is ok!

This reminds me of when my bunny Honey disappeared from the garden of my old place. There were 5 people watching her and it only took a second for her to be gone. It took 4 days until she returned and I'd already given up hope, especially cause there were foxes roaming the area frequently. I went outside every couple of hours - even at night and put food and water out there but she just wouldn't turn up... when she came back I was basically like you when you found your Hope, so incredibly happy! Up until this day it's a miracle for me and I am extra careful to keep my little darling safe. :) So glad your story had a happy end as well!

Who knew I could cry so much!! I have two macaws. The one who free flights with me is called Charlie. He has a bit of an attitude but he’s an amazing bird he has never gotten away from me from a free flight except for one time. I found him in a tree about 5 hours later at around 2:00 am. I didn’t notice him at first because I was so tired. But then I realized it was him and he stayed there for a long time waiting. He kept calling my name and yelling and that’s what helped me find him. Turns out there was a small little bird sitting close to him. Somehow Charlie didn’t attack the bird or get scared and fly off. I prayed and prayed and when I was just about to give up was on the last search. I heard squawking and I thought it was a different bird but I just wanted to go check and them Bam I saw him. I was bawling my eyes out and on the way home I just sat in the backseat holding him super close to me and he was super scared and I felt so bad because I felt like it was my fault because I didn’t watch him when he flew off. Turns out two kids nearby were throwing rocks at him and one hit him and he got super scared and flew. I tried to find the kids or there parents but no luck. I know keep a close eye on my bird and have a collar that actually has this little tracking thing you hook up to an app. I’m just glad me and him are safe now. :)

Oh my gosh, I'm sitting hear in tears! My little bird flew away once as well. I didn't know he could fly so well and I opened my front door and he just flew out. I chased behind him, my feet on fire trying to catch up but he flew over a fence and I knew then I was never going to see him again. I stood outside for an hour hoping I could hear him, I put his cage outside to see maybe he would recognize it. Suddenly I hear a cry, I grab my brother and screamed I knew that was my baby and he was scared I heard it in his voice. He managed to fly back home but landed on my neighbors roof and poor thing was terrified of heights. We got a ladder and grabbed him and the entire time I was crying my eyes out. I from then on made sure to get his wings clipped and I've had my sweet cockatiel for 16 long years now. That hopeless feeling that comes over you when they fly out your reach is a feeling I want no other bird lover to feel. I am so happy your baby was found!

This was so emotional, I cried the same way when my cat disappeared for 4 days he was so young and I thought he wouldn't come back. I looked up and down the street doing sounds of mewing and yowlimg like a desperate mother cat! I sprinkled his messy cat litter around the house and yard hoping he would smell his markings and come home. Nothing finally on the forth day desperate and crying begging god to let him hear me I yowled as loud as I could crying, clicking, calling and in the distance I see him running crying back in the same manor! He was covered in dirt and cobwebs crying to where ever my voice was coming to. He finally ran in the yard crying the whole time and rubbing his head furiously against mine. I gave him fresh food and water and he slept for hours, waking up to cry if he heard me leaving the room. Never give up if that voice in your gut says they are out there then they are! The gut feeling is an invisible line you made with your animal with love, care, affection, feeding, and time. And when they are lost all they are listening for is you❤❤❤❤😢😢😢 God bless I'm glad he's home

My Hahns macaw bulleted out the front one day when I was just opening it to grab something right outside and if he hadn't been constantly calling out I would never have found him. He was really fast (fully flighted) and being chased by magpies. Also this was in a living area so full of houses and trees. I chased him to a schoolyard where perched in a tree and I chased away the magpies. After he had calmed down he flew down the tree and landed on my hand. But it took at least an hour. I would've died if I lost him.

I have 3 cockatiels and plan on adopting a 4th in a few days time and this is an absolute nightmare for me. I had a scare once with my Special Needs cockatiel, Smokey Bear. Luckily for me I found him in my room having a Panic Attack, turns out he didn’t even leave the house, but I can totally relate to that feeling of finding your bird after believing all hope is lost and you’ll never see them again, just wanting to hug them and cry with them in your arms, it’s the worst and best feeling in the world. I’m still so grateful that he stayed inside and waited to be found because not only does he mean the world to me even with all his quirks but he was also expecting children with his mate Kiwi, sadly it was a failed pregnancy but either way I can’t live without my birds, they have changed my life entirely.

Pandora birds and their humans very commonly use specific calls to each other. If you had paid attention instead of whining and complaining you would have plainly heard her bird responding back to her “ random” sounds. Because of this she was able to locate hope. Education on parrots (or anything else) is very useful if you’re going to comment and put yourself out there. You may have been “annoyed “ by the humans calls to him and the only one annoyed I might add but it saved that birds life and the humans heart. Try a lil compassion. It goes a long way

While clipping is uncomfortable for birds, it is usually the best option. I’ve worked in a specialized pet store for birds for four years now and can’t count the amount of missing bird posters I’ve seen there from people who didn’t clip their bird’s wings. I also don’t recommend freeflight at all especially nonnative birds exactly because of this video, birds are incredibly intelligent but that doesn’t stop them from being frightened or chased off without being able to find their way back. While it is always your decision this is just what I recommend from my years of experience with these wonderful creatures.

I'm so happy you got your baby back! This happened to a cockatiel that was mine, that I had to give up to my aunt because one of our other birds was picking on him. He was kinda small for a cockatiel and she forgot he was on her shoulder. So she took the garbage out and he got spooked by the garbage can lid. he was gone for two days and one of the nights there was a really bad storm. We got him back a few days later after calling every pound, animal rescue and what not in the city. XD He had dive bombed a lady. She climbed up on her neighbors roof to get him. XD The animal shelter said he was SUPER quiet until he heard my cousins and then started calling ' *gasp sound* Peako! Peako!'. I cried so hard. I had raised him from a little hatchling and my cousins loved him because he was so sweet. TT_TT

Se isso acontecer comigo um dia saio correndo e gritando atrás do bicho até cair duro no chão, deve ser que nem perder um filho. Felizmente teve um final feliz.

Ravens are native there... Macaws are not. These are domesticated parrots. I can't sympathize with anyone that loses a bird and chooses to free fly it like this. Too many birds never come back and they don't survive. It's wrong...
@houseofhades58197 жыл бұрын
it's not wrong? the fuck.. lol. keeping them in a cage without the ability of flight is wrong
@houseofhades58197 жыл бұрын
AntiDusk Byte it's not the birds fault? it was being chased by birds of prey that could easily kill it? it flew for its life..
@nightfr097 жыл бұрын
houseofhades there's plenty one can do to prevent this situation while letting the bird fly. One example off the top of my head is gps
@lizatanzawa79107 жыл бұрын
AntiDusk Byte it's the bird's fault for getting in the car, driving someplace, and getting in the air. Riiight.

Troy Duncan one doesn't have to be a rocket engineer to see that someone who flew a rocket into the ground is doing something very wrong. There are hundreds of ways this potentially life-threatening situation could have been aboided. A simple one would have been a GPS tracker. Wouldn't have protected against predators, but it eould have made finding the body 10x easier if the bird was eaten. Would have facilitated finding the lost bird before it could have been eaten or frozen. Another simple easy solution would be taking the bird to a closed off space, like an athletic stadium. Its no more natural to the bird than this dry desert is. Predators, temperature, and losing the bird wouldn't have been an issue. The owner of the bird put thr birds life one the line.

Im Glad that you found your Parrot.. But I'm really mad and upset at the fact how you did not think this through before. I understand you wanted hope to have the freedom to fly in nature but there are wild birds in such places. Your lucky that God listened and answered your prayers that day. But please don't make foolish decisions like this again

My sis yes lost my bird in a free flight. I was really angry at her that I go to the place where she brang my bird to every day. Until one I could not go cause I had to go to somewhere. While I was getting ready I saw my parrot out my window. I was soo happy. Good thing you got hope back
@incineroar99337 жыл бұрын
So you lost one bird and let another one fly without a leash and a harness? I'm sorry, but you were just playing Russian roulette with your bird's life here.n
@houseofhades58197 жыл бұрын
Incineroar it's what's best for the bird. free flying keeps him healthy and happy. it's worth the risk, better than keeping a bird locked up with no ability of flight.
@aymansyed13515 жыл бұрын
I agree. Why no harness. Foolish mistake
@naturekingdom9775 жыл бұрын
It’s better to clip the birds wings a bit but some people want there bird to feel free, hope was afraid. This two ravens scared him, if they didn’t come out of no were then he would come back. 😕

*I guarantee you that while it's panicked, and running for its life, it **_cannot_** hear you. I made a similar mistake with my pigeon, Clovey, and she out-ran 5 crows. She found a hiding spot, and I found her 4 hours later, right after sunset.* *I'm really glad that you found your parrot (I ended up just like you when I found Clovey), but I really hope that you learned that you don't free fly a domesticated bird outside of an aviary. They have a big target on them that says, "Hi! I'm your next meal!"* *I'm in Santa Monica and we have American Crows, Red Tail Hawks, Peregrins, and seagulls. They generally leave pigeons alone, but if they're domesticated pigeons (or any other domesticated bird) then they're food.*

My cokatail was lost for 28 hours, then a neighbour comes to me and told na that he is sitting in their Garden. That was such a miricale, cause under the tree was sitting a cat looking for to catch my cokatail. I was so Happy and thankfully praising the lord. This is now 2 years ago. Never give up finding your bird if it' s lost!
