I Lost My Swedish Residency (Don't Do This...)

In this video, we share one of the more stressful situations we have been through as a couple. Morgan somehow managed to lose her residency card and we thought with that she would have to go through some kind of protocol to get her residency back! In this video we go through the steps on how she got her residency back! Losing a residency card can be a stressful and daunting experience, but we want to share our story to calm you down and offer advice on what to do if you find yourself in a similar situation. As an international couple, we know firsthand the challenges of navigating immigration, and we hope this video can help others avoid making the same mistakes. A little about us 🇺🇲🇸🇪
Morgan is from the USA and Will is originally from Sweden. We met while working together in Germany in 2018 and have ever since tried to find a place to call home. In January of 2022 Morgan finally received a positive decision on her residency application in Sweden, so for now we know where we will call home. We look forward to share with you the challenges and differences between our cultures, and how it works when they meet in our relationship. We very much love each other, but do we love everything about where we are from? Is Sweden as good as everyone says, and is America more than all of its stereotypes?

We love ICA! From all the supermarkets we have in our small town, ICA is the go to place. Also prices are not excessive, yes. 🤪 We are getting our ID cards from Skatteverket today, so we are officially Swedish residents!!! \o/ YEY! 😊 I hope you stay for the summer... or at least midsummer... or at least Valborg (one of my fav traditions in Sweden) 🔥 Love ya Lo

Hej! You're calmer than I would be, LOL, I would be tearing up floor boards to find it, playing every step over and over in my head. Still check around in handbags, coat pockets, just so your mind is free from wondering (and also mine, bahahahaha). Glad things worked out and everyone is safe and sound. I'm only allowed Swedish residency because my husband is an EU citizen (Belgian) so has the right to live here. I'm Scottish, so, the whole Brexit thing makes relocating anywhere in the EU awkward. We got residency paperwork saying we do have residency, but is a residency card essential? Should I apply for one? Any advice gratefully received. We live in a tiny village which has one shop, a very small Ica branch. But it's open seven days a week, which is great! For the bigger Ica and a Coop, we go to Sveg, our nearest town. I'm sorry for the rudeness of Border Control. I think they get trained in it. ;) When we relocated here from Ireland, my husband got through Customs no problem, but I got grilled and told "You can ONLY stay 90 days!" even after telling her we were applying for residency here as retirees. It can be tough but I just try to smile and be supernice. Doesn't change their attitude but I walk away thinking "At least I'm not *that* bad!" :)

Hello, you're amazing i love your videos.. i have one question. Can we apply Schengen visa while we waiting for decision residence permit with my partner!? And do we need to mention in Schengen visa application that we are waiting for residence permit decision!? U think it will make problem to get visit visa !? Or else i just mention I'm going to visit my friend nothing about my relationship just say friend and attach proofs that we met !? Kindly clarify I'm confusing. I think u know better about this. Since u had experience

I just got the idea that maybe you should consider moving to Spain or Italy or some other country where none of you are native. I just watched a video with another person that has moved to Sweden (don't ask me why I follow so many people who have moved to Sweden on KZbin 😀) and she said one of the reason why they decided to move to Sweden is that neither her nor her boyfriend are native here, so none of them have the advantage of being the one who knows how everything works. I anyway get the impression that Morgan isn't that much into Arctic climates. Anyway, glad that the problem with the residency had a solution!

It is something we have considered/thought about. After being a resident in an EU country (Sweden), the process to then transfer to a different EU country is super easy! So we may look into it, as you say, we are both not really into the cold Swedish climate ☃️☃️☃️
