I do think they are going to do something about Whitley cause I mean he's volume 1 Weiss basically so he just needs real friends which was also hard for Weiss to do, i remember watching alot of reactions to volume 1 and everyone hated Weiss just like Whitley as in they were hated the same way

This is easily in my top 5 favorite RWBY episodes simply because of the 3 minute exchange between Oscar/Ozpin and Salem. This Chapter could've been just that scene and it would've been just as good. We get to see the second in person exchange of words that these characters have had. We see Oscar show true fear when he first sees her. Then this scene encompasses all of Salem's emotions in a short period. She goes from, relief and possibly happiness to anger and violence in a short amount of time. But it doesn't feel rushed. The dialogue molds so fluidly (Props to Jen Taylor, she is easily one the best voice actresses in the business). Salem has always felt threatening but my god this scene truly terrified me for Ozpin/Oscar's safety. While RvB has had some scary villains (Meta), this is one of the categories where RWBY beats RvB. Volume 8 is on track for being my personal favorite. Question: When RWBY goes on its mini hiatus after Chapter 7 will you be picking up RvB where you left off over break?

Notice that the smoke figures Salem is playing with at the start of the scene are images of their dead daughters. You can even hear them laughing. If Salem felt any happiness in seeing Oscar/Ozma it was happiness in knowing what she was going to do to him.

I don’t think Ren can retract Stormflower because it’s coiled around the Hound’s leg. If he retracts, it’ll just uncoil it and he’ll fall off.
@ShnNar1000x4 жыл бұрын
Ren doesn't want to accept responsibility. He is filled with his own insecurities and fears and uncertainties and he is afraid of being responsible for things going wrong. He would rather someone else with authority make the decisions so that he does not have to, and he does not have faith in his teammates. A lot of these feelings are very understandable, and also speak to his immaturity. He is, after all, a boy of no more than 16 or 17. But he is wrong about most of this. The one person with authority who is making decisions is Ironwood, and a lot of what Ironwood is deciding to do is wrong.

But Blake and I havent ever had a disagreement and she showed no disappointment in me doing this. I hope she's not upset with me. I'm not going to claim it's bad writing. Reminds me of the scene in the beginning of Jenn's story about Salem and Oz... white background, everyone alone. Ruby: "Weiss, Yang?" - Weiss: "Ruby?" - Yang: "Blake?" - Blake: "Yang?" 😊

Blake and Yang have had a disagreement though, and it was one quite similar to this one. It gets brought up in this very reaction. Ren is saying a lot of things that probably remind her of what Blake was saying back in Volume 2. Heck, Ren probably reminds her of Blake in general: "one of them feels that way, but the other might be worried."

Also, there was the whole Volume 4-6 thing where Blake left, returned, saw how it hurt Yang and affirmed that she would be by Yang's side from here on out. Now Yang has left the group, and she is worried that Blake would feel just as hurt.

Imo, I don’t think Ren is supporting Ironwood after what has happened last volume. Ren doesn’t know what to do because he thinks they need guidance and a plan but he doesn’t realize that the adults have no clue what they’re doing either.

While the Oscar/Salem scene is incredibly uncomfortable to watch, it’s extremely well written and acted, and if anyone had any doubts about Salem being a legit villain, those have basically been put to bed after this scene. I think it was brilliant to allow the show to go that far. Also, I say this a lot, but Jen Taylor seems to have a knack for stealing just about every scene Salem is in with her voice acting approach to the character. It’s a relief to know that everyone’s VA was still able to do the show with all the real world stuff going on, and this is one example of why getting all of the cast back for the year somehow was so important.

Ren is more tired of - Raven let Yang took the relic. Again the woman that can teleport. - Ruby left it with Oscar, the weakest one, and the guy they claim they can't trust is harboring. - Ruby is younger than them, Jaune lied to get it, Ren & Nora are orphans, and the best of them, Pyrrha died trying. - If they couldn't save one person, when Cinder attacked Becon. How would they protect Atlas? The most guarded and weapon filled place in the world? - Ruby cheat coded her way with the Leviathan. Even then Cordoven beat it. - Which she let them get to Atlas, when they technically should've had them locked up realistically. - Yang wouldn't even have an arm without him. Much less no thanks, and backstab him earlier. - Ironwood is the one with army and guns. Since V2, Atlas has been building things and shipping dust to other nations. Ren doesn't want to make an enemy of that guy. - He also gave them their licenses early so they could be one. Trained and fed them. Upgraded their weapons and clothes. - Ren brought up "people are going to die" and Yang replies "b-but Ironwood can't be proven right and validate him!" (paraphrase) Thing is what Ren says almost has no weight due to the "world building": - We haven't seen any other huntsmen that weren't in school or teachers.| -- aka: ozpin, glenda, qrow, oobleck, port, lionheart, ironwood - Raven and Winter would be the only ones and Raven ain't for the cause. - Dee and Duddly, were two but got miffed off easily on the train for huntsmen. - The Ace Ops were another and got wiped with the floor by RWBY. And they're not really great either. - They [huntsmen] also consistently need more help as noted in Chapter 2, with how easy the die. - The only threat Grimm are now are the mass of numbers except the Apathy. - And Ironwood is also being written stupidly this volume to fall on his own sword and its so obvious.

"More people should go on angry and illogical--" I'm sorry, STOPPING YA RIGHT THE FRICK THERE, Missy. What fucking part of what Ren said was illogical? He was spitting straight FACTS! Yang's argument was more illogical. Not totally wrong, but still illogical. The only reason they saved Haven was cuz of luck and Raven. None of them knew going into it that the battle would be happening. They didn't prepare for anything like that. They bumbled into the situation, and only really got out cuz of lucky arrivals like Blake, and Raven being strong enough to put Cinder out of commission, thereby forcing the enemy to retreat. They didn't save Haven out of their own efforts and plans like real huntsman would do. They also didn't beat the Leviathan in volume 6. Ruby kinda did, except she didn't and Cordovan had to take care of it. Speaking of which, Cordovan is also the only reason they managed to get the lamp to Atlas. She LET them go. THEY did nothing but fail, and then get lucky yet again. She isn't wrong to point out that they've succeeded. Far from it. Ren needs to keep in mind that those are still victories for them. But Ren's whole point is that they've been in over their heads for the longest, and yet when they FINALLY have the support of a large group of people that can help them make better decisions, their hubris comes to bite them in the ass by having them make stupid decision after stupid decision that really only worked to make the current situation even worse. People WILL and it WILL be on their hands at least somewhat. That is a fact. Yet even now it feels like they're making the same damn mistake. They're assuming they know what the right choice it, but in the end what if it's NOT? What if Mantle by this point is meant to be Mountain Glenn 2.0 and the best choice is to abandon it to the Grimm? Yang's point is that their successes, no matter how they came about, shouldn't be tossed aside as failures. Ren's is that those successes only happened cuz they got lucky, or were in the right place at the right time, and not because they're Huntsman. Now, they've made mistakes that have put them in a situation where the only way they can achieve their goal is through bumbling their way past obstacles by relying on the luck that's carried them so far, and that the CAN'T KEEP IT UP. He's also right. Both are right. Both are wrong. And it is WONDERFUL. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS AN EDDIE WRITTEN EPISODE!
