Jonathan is sometimes considered a useless character but honestly, I do enjoy the comedy and the things that he does bring to the films even though he's obviously not the main focus. The sequence where he remembers the symbol Amenophus and tells Alex was such a nice callback to the first film.

The reason why the CGI for the Rock was bad was because the CGI team had a few days to work on it, maybe 9 days. It's been ranked as one of the worst examples of CGI in movies but considering the circumstances, i say they did an okay job.

The CGI Scorpion King was really one of those things that can make or break a movie. If you're going the full CGI route, you really have to get it right when you spend the whole movie basically building up to its reveal. If it turns out bad, then it takes you out of the movie and becomes the one thing that everyone will be talking about, and not in a good way.

Random Fact: that snake Evelyn kicked actually wasnt venomous. But there's a snake that looks the same that IS venomous. The one that isnt venomous, the pattern on the body, the red touches the black stripes, but the venomous one the red touches yellow stripes instead of black. Easy way to tell them apart.

Mummy Returns is a fun movie, and the Scorpion King at the end is constantly on the list of the worst CGI monsters in film history. The Rock’s acting has also drastically increased since this. I’ve watched the first two Mummy movies multiple times. Only watched the third once.

Great movie.This is a fun adventure movie. They don't make movies like the anymore . The last fun adventure movie is Prince Of Persia 2010. The third one is horrible. The modern remake with Tom cruise is very different but it is decent and more horror. You should also see Blast from the Past and School Ties with Brandon Frazer. Also The National Treasure movies.

In looking for suggestions for future reactions, it may be interesting taking a CGI angle. You talked about the impression made by the CGI of the first Mummy film, which released in 1999. In 1993, Jurassic Park released and if you weren’t aware was a bit of a pioneer film into CGI. Up until Jurassic Park, CGI was still somewhat of a novelty, and the movie nearly employed claymation to bring its dinosaurs to life. So without the chance that Steven Spielberg took on CGI with Jurassic Park, a film like The Mummy might not have turned out the way it did. All of that said, if you haven’t seen or reacted to Jurassic Park, it could be cool watching the dawning of CGI in film the way JP used it in 1993 and then compare it to where it ended up with The Mummy which released at the end of the decade in 1999.

Jurassic Park is not really the movie to compare. In a lot of scenes, robots were used. From scene to scene, I cannot tell if I see robots or CGI. A better comparison is the Fellowship of the Ring that also came out in 2001, the Balrog looks awesome. The following year, Gollum in the Two Towers in fully CGI.
