I think that's gorgeous, it sort of looks like artwork to me. I know it wasn't your favorite look, but it was definitely one of my favorite rainbow cakes that I've seen. I love that it's both colorful and minimalist, the top is basically smooth perfection, and the irregularities in color shapes on the sides make it extra whimsical.

I loved doing the split in half and stood up cakes like that when I was a baker. I used them as the body for *all the dragons*. Every holiday on the calendar got a new dragon design. Eventually the manager got mad at me cause “dragons aren’t christmasy/for Valentine’s Day/ Halloween/ appropriate for military appreciation day etc” but they always sold and when I left they got mad sales dropped a ton so haha!
