Nice job I would recommend that you raise the the pot to waist hight so you are not leaning over the lead then only heat with the least amount of heat possible put the lid on it skim the clips and Flux it with dry saw dust or shavings mix it in scraping the bottom and sides skim the top the carbon helps float the dirt and garbage out which will improve the casting later. PS I have found that I get approximately 48% of usable lead. Keep up the good work be safe.

I do love melting lead. Wheel weights into ingots, ingots into bullets or bullets down the barrel it is all fun. I got a new 45-70 bullet mold this week. I will be posting a video on making bullets in the next day or two. Thanks for subscribing and thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the video. How much is the burner and where can we find one?
@chrisevansgunshorsesranchi6992 жыл бұрын
I got it off of amazon. It was advertised as a 200,000 btu burner. I can't remember the brand or how much it cost. But doesn't seem like cost was too crazy. I am too big of a tight wad to spend too much. Ha Thanks for watching

do you think I can use a old aluminum pressure cooker pot instead of a cast iron pot?

I think that would work good Worth a try for sure Thanks for watching

Enjoyed your video 15 degrees out...pretty cold..looks like your out in the great basin...Nevada? I'm getting ready to melt down some line-o-type. Shoe

In eastern Utah. The linotype material has been pretty hard to find. It blends well with wheel weights to increase the hardness. Good luck

@@chrisevansgunshorsesranchi699 Oh cool neat country....so I'm under the impression that line o type is to hard and need to put more pure lead in it to make less hard...do I have it wrong? And thank you for the response. Shoe in SW Oregon.

Depends on the application. Low velocity loads I think should be a little softer. Auto pistol loads a little harder Brian Pearce wrote a great article on bullet hardness He know much more than I do

Awesome. Might want to flux after cleaning out your clips.

I have done some fluxing in the past What works best for you?

@@chrisevansgunshorsesranchi699 I use primarily wax, old candles, or sawdust. Wax works better, but saw dust doesn't flare up as bad and smells better.

@@thetobaccoguy1751 I have used wax but not sawdust. I will have to try it.
