Whenever i sand my charcoal i always place a small glass mason jar under it and collect the powder in it and ki keep filling the jar . When ever i want a powder charcoal to fill large backgrounds i use it.. and also use it in place of Panpastel .

Beautiful drawing, Cesar. This seems to be a great brand for charcoal. I love the look of charcoal, but hate the smudging that never ends. (especially in sketchbooks) I would love there to be a medium that gave the rich darks and "blendability" of charcoal with the precision and smudge-free finish of a ink pen that was portable to draw on the go. I hate graphite ( smudges and never gets dark). Do you have a suggestion?

I was so disappointed when I heard they were going out of biz several months ago. I bought a box full of the charcoal in the same..h, hb, b. I have the paddle but it'a rough for finish. Hello Cesar, I am a big fan. Great video and great drawing. Question, is it better to start a charcoal drawing with hard charcoal, since it' makes lighter marks that are more easily erased and corrected? Thanks.

Robert no actually, is better to start with a softer, but lightly, because is easier to erase. the H will leave a mark on the paper

Hey Cesar, great to hear from you, thanks. I'm kind of confused though because when I use Winsor Newton vine charcoal on Strathmore 64lb charcoal paper and draw very lightly, the hard vine charcoal seems to erase better than the soft charcoal. But I have not tried the Nitram charcoal yet, and I don't think it's the same paper you use. So maybe that's the issue, I'm not sure. Can I ask though, what is the best paper for charcoal drawing in your opinion? Thanks again.

Do you notice any inconsistency with Nitram charcoal? I bought the H, HB and B, but the H is almost useless for me. It does not make a mark unless I press quite hard, and then it scratches the paper. The HB is quite light. I am not a charcoal master, but I'm a bit dissappointed in the variety, I could have just not purchasd the H, yet in many review videos the H does not behave as it does for me. I've tried different papers from smooth to toothy. I got them back in 2017 when you first posted this video, I'm wondering if I just got a bad batch or something, yet hesitant to order more.
