At the end, I actually show that X is not a T4 space, instead of a T2 space. But the idea is similar, one can show that any two open sets must intersect.

Can you please make a video on how to study a math subject self-study on graduate level?

You're wasting your time on ant-mathematical rot. Set theory and topology are not mathematics. Mathematics is the abstract science of measure and number. There is no mathematics in topology or set theory.

Feel better. I recommend a lot of chicken noodle soup! Sleep probably would help too :) Man....I didn't realize it, but I was actually getting kind of close to a solution to that first one. That's a very nice proof by example you found, exhibiting a set where E, C(E), I(E), CI(E), IC(E), CIC(E), and ICI(E) are all distinct. After you pointed out the flaw in my prior "answer", I had tried to figure out an upper bound on distinct sets and had even convinced myself that CICI(E) = CI(E) and that ICIC(E) = IC(E) through double set inclusion, so the maximum number of distinct sets could not be larger than 7. On the other hand, I was completely stymied in trying to write down an example where all 7 possibilities are distinct. I guess I just should have kept playing around with it. In retrospect, my strategy of trying to find an upper bound for the number of distinct possibilities was not bad. In fact, all I had to do from there after showing the upper bound was 7 was to show that ICI(E) and I(E) need not be the same, and then show that CIC(E) and C(E) need not be the same, and I would have been done. Easier said than done without a concrete example. Really nice solution. Anyway, good luck!! You're almost through the gauntlet of this semester. We believe in you!!

Is rote-learning common in graduate studies?? Why do you want to learn a theorem and not try to prove it using your own words and even methods??? And why would a professor give an exam paper asking you to vomit some theorem you have seen in a book?
