Looks like a good product. When you’re using it to run dual 4K monitors (or possibly ANY monitors), the disk speed for write will be reduced to 20 Gbps, because there are two 20 Gbps lanes running that direction, and the display data gets one of them all to itself (I think, I’m less familiar with USB4 than with USB 3), leaving half the bandwidth. I don’t know why it’s taking half the “read” bandwidth, but it looks like you’re still getting a full 20 Gbps lane. With the current discounts, it only costs $120 which is pretty great. If my machine had a thunderbolt port attached to the dGPU, I’d buy this. But I have the AMD Gen 7 Legion 5 Pro, so there’s only one USB4 port, and it attaches to the iGPU. Also, the USB A and USB C ports are advertised to support 10 Gbps, so that 340 MBps data speed seems suspiciously low from the USB A port in the video. You might check out one of the newer Maiwo USB4 NVME enclosures. They’re even faster because they are using a newer chip than what Acasis is using. I get 3700 MBps in CrystalDiskMark. Those make a great first USB4 device.

There is another big brother of this one, . Same name same model but that has dual bay ssd enclosure.I wonder if that got the same result?I am thinking to get that one.

Thanks. I'm looking at this and knowing the Hub prices and wanting a fast enclosure. This seems like the best thing out there for a Mac Thunderbolt environment...and at that price. The other way to look at this is THE best SSD enclosure for a Mac. Even if you never use it as a hub...these ports are there. $110 in my neck of the woods.
@Jasmine-Law9 ай бұрын
Super cost-effective!😎Thanks for your recommendation! This means that I only need to spend the price of a Thunderbolt SSD enclosure to get a Thunderbolt SSD enclosure & docking station.

nice! Do you also have a nice, smaller USB-C hub kind of thing for travel? Something that can make use of at least a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port or TB4 port with some USB, Ethernet and optionally display out, (micro) sd reader
@TechGuyBeau9 ай бұрын
I have a smaller more generic dongle as well, but I primarily use that for filming (usb with usb a for my microphone).

Picked one of these up a couple months ago for $105 shipped. Agreed wrt the ridiculous value it has over a conventional TB4 dock. I was about to drop 500 bucks on an overpriced plastic brick that doesn't even fit a nvme.

Hey man, I’m looking for a Dock just like this but also with ethernet(hopefully not expensive) do you have any recommendations?

Yottamaster has a few docks, and so do Minisopuru. I’ve had good luck with these three brands. I have a few on my Amazon storefront that might work

2:24 and 5:24 isn't TB4 not equivalent to USB4? I thought USB4==TB3
@ahgflyguy9 ай бұрын
They’re not equivalent, but there’s so much overlap that at the level of the peripheral (such as this) there’s no difference. The differences will be (I think) entirely at the host. Or if a device is going to have a downstream TB4 port, that will require it to have a few more capabilities than a TB3 port. A lot of that comes down to video capabilities and power output capabilities, which is part of why the TB4 docks Beau mentioned at the beginning cost so much.
@TechGuyBeau9 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s such a mess. I should be clear this is usb 4 @ 40gbps. So it’s equal to TB4

Too bad they couldn't have 80 to 90v passthrough so your laptop could be powered when connected to the hub. Bummer
@TechGuyBeau8 ай бұрын
Might be too much overall load yeah. They claimed to be working on more stuff, so maybe they have one planned
@elliotbaltazar8 ай бұрын
@@TechGuyBeau That would be great news if they incorporated that in a future iteration. It's really the only thing missing here.

You're almost at 50k subs, if I were you I would up my game and try to make more professional content It would take you from 50k to 100k in no time Pay attention to thumbnails and the titles Make a little studio for yourself in your home and try to film nice looking b rolls of the laptops/products. Products like this dock can be featured in short form content which would increase your reach ALOT. use the algorithm to your advantage and you'll thank me later.

Thanks. I focus more on quality of the review rather than making my videos pretty and “creator” like. I think a lot of people want someone to cut through the BS and get straight to the actual review
@med7at109 ай бұрын
@@TechGuyBeau I don't see why you can't do both, like dave2d style, short and straight to the point.
@TechGuyBeau9 ай бұрын
@@med7at10 People on my channel at least dont want that. I dont focus on copycat, or shallow overviews. my goal is to show all of the details of the product for someone who might buy, and from the eyes of the viewer. i am not a "techtainment" channel, rather a "user review" channel.
@med7at109 ай бұрын
@@TechGuyBeau I like that about your channel and I appreciate that, in fact that is why I subscribed in the first place. But that doesn't mean you can't improve your production quality. There is still a lot of things you need to learn to improve upon what you are already trying to do. Thats all what I'm saying.
@med7at109 ай бұрын
You already pay attention to some important details when it comes to the products which alot of youtubers skip over. I'm just telling you to give more attention to the other aspect of content creation in order to grow your following. Aspire to be great at both 👌🏻
