I Love (Little Baby Ducks) sung and written by Tom T. Hall (born May 25, 1936 in Kentucky) an American country songwriter, and country singer. He has written 11 no.1 hit songs, with 26 more that reached the Top 10, including the pop come C/W hit "I Love", which reached no12 in the States.
I never listened to Country and Western or Bluegrass when I was younger I thought it was too square (theres a weird word from the past ha ha). But I have discovered loads of stuff in the last few years specially banjo and fiddle stuff. Also got into Scotty and Irish music.
LETS FACE IT all genres of sounds have their brilliant frontline pieces.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyrics
I love little baby ducks,
Old pick-up trucks,
Slow-moving trains,
And rain
I love little country streams,
Sleep without dreams,
Sunday school in May,
And hay
And I love you too
I love leaves in the wind,
Pictures of my friends,
Birds in the world,
And squirrels
I love coffee in a cup, little fuzzy pups,
Old Tv shows
And snow
And I love you too
I love honest open smiles,
Kisses from a child, tomatoes on the vine,
And onions
I love winners when they cry,
Losers when they try, music when it's good,
And life
And I love you too
My dad used to play this exact video for my brother and I when we were little. We turn 18 in January of 2024 and I cannot believe this video is 14 years old. My mom passed almost 10 years ago and my dad has raised us alone, with the help of his sister/my aunt and uncle. I told him the other day I intend to dance to this song at my wedding. Thank you so much for this video and the memories it brings
After I read Tom T.'s obit, realizing he's my Dad's age, I started doing the same thing. I'm grateful to still have Dad to share this rich music with ... the pain of Mom's passing in 2018 is still very tender. She used to sing along with songs like these. I know how you feel.
When I was young I was sent to live with my grandad. I remember this song playing! That man saved me in so many ways and I loved him even as a toddler. To get home we sometimes had to wait for a train to pass. In those days trains had an end car called a caboose, to handle controls for the train. Now trains have to handle everything themselves and "caboose" gets autocorrected even when I write this. Now, at nearly 50 so much has changed but I still occasionally have to stop for trains. I see the missing caboose and feel an empty spot where it feels like it should be. I miss that man, but I love Jesus enough to let Him keep him. I think I can direct the train for now. I love slow moving trains.:)
At my grandpas funeral, my great aunt (aka his sister) told us about how her Uncle Tom was a singer and would write her poems, she gave us one of the letters and it had signed at the bottom, Tom T. Hall, now it wasn’t just and autograph, there were multiple letters and it even had her name on them, my dad came over and say them and said out loud “ I thought you were lying to us”, he was so shocked and couldn’t believe that what helped him sleep for years was his great uncle 😢😢😢
my grandpa showed me this song when I was about six. I was extremely close with him, a lot more so than my grandparents on my mom's side. he died of a rare type of cancer in his intestines in 2017. I will miss him for ever and this song reminds me of him so much. sometimes I just listen to this song on repeat and think about him. I will never forget 6 year old me sitting with him in that office at the car lot, listening to this song on the computer (watching this specific video). This is a true nostalgia factor for me.
Just lost my grandpa a few days ago. This was his all-time favorite song. I do like the original b/c it was more fitting to my grandpa. We even played it at his funeral. RIP Grandpa
