Tom T, Johnny, Waylon, Charlie Pride, Merle, Billie Joe Shaver, George Jones, Conway, Marty Robbins, Ray Price, Johnny Paycheck, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins, Wynn Stewart, Buck Owens, Faron Young, Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, Doc Watson, and so many more my dad introduced me to are gone now. Now, Dad is getting ready for his meeting with our maker. Thank you dad for making me the man I am today. And for showing me Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Blake Shelton, and Jason Aldean are all a group of people who have been manufactured by Nashville. None of which are true artists. You were right, dad. Someone is pissing on our leg and telling us it's raining.

I guess I have had watermelon wine. Been about 40 years. That is if buying one of those olds Stone Mountain melons and injecting it with a 1/5 of rum counts. Then chilling it and eating slices of the next day. I can find the rum. But those big old dark green watermelons are hard to come by now. I bit like finding a Charly McClain concert.

The lyric,"God bless little children, while they're still too young to hate," may be the most profound one I've ever heard; ( written during such a tumultuous time in US history. If the story's true, the old, Black gentleman was very wise) Anyone who's missed his music has missed so much.

I'm 56 now and my mom past away in February of 2018. When I was a child we used to sit around as a family and listen to music together. Tom T. Hall was one of those we listen to and this song was one that stood out. Tears welled up at hearing him sing it, bringing back memories of a different time for this world. Those times, I'm afraid will never return, but thankfully Christ will return and a better time than even those old times will come.

I saw Tom T Hall in concert Ponderosa Park in northeast Ohio back around 1983 and during the show he sang I like beer and a girl walked up to the stage and handed him up a beer and security grabbed her and removed her from the park. Tom was furious and stopped the show and said he would not continue until that girl was brought back and ordered security to go find her and bring her back. In the meantime he told the audience that he would not stand for any fan of his to be mistreated so he waited quite a while must have been 20 to 30 minutes all the while demanding that girls return. Finally the girl was brought back and Tom T Hall brought her on stage and sang a song just for her. The crowd cheered as loud as I'd ever heard. That was the kind of man he was. His audience meant everything to him.
