Classic film noir! The plot is twisty and convicted. The dialogue is snappy and the tension is high. Great movie!

@@pressureworks: No. When I was a kid in the 50s men wore ties, jackets and even hats whenever they went out in public. Women wore stockings and girdles. I like it less formal, but I can understand why some people miss it. We act according to how we dress.

Tone turned in a great performance here playing Stuart Bailey who was later portrayed by Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. in 77 Sunset Strip. Huggins wrote the novel and later developed TV shows you might've heard of: Maverick, The Fugitive, 77 Sunset Strip and The Rockford Files.

Great plot. I didn't see a number of the twists coming. My only complaint about some Noirs is they rip each other off = stealing phrases of dialogue. nothing important but still. Also the whimsical humor is unnecessary and detracts from the overall vibe. I'm not complaining, my favorite noir did the same thing. I'd love to see a digitally restored version of this in high definition. I'd buy that on DVD. I'll have to check and see if it exists. Thanks for the upload, it made my favorite list.
