PSA: My Vtube model was inspired by dinosaurs... and my lore is that I'm a dinosaur princess from the moon, so that's why it's "Smol Dino Thoughts." I just realized that I probably haven't explicitly said that before lol

I really like how you put that-that Alyssa is so full of other people's ideas and expectations there's no room for her own thoughts and ideas. Back in fp, I said: Well, we know she became good at dancing. Alyssa's one of the rare people who is naturally gifted in lots of things, and could master any one of them if she so chose. Problem is, it's tough to know which choice is the 'right' one when you have nigh unlimited options. I get why she wanted out and away from her parents. Just look at how riveted she is with what Min-Hyuk is telling her. It's as though she's listening to a fairytale. We've learned a few things, too. Meg also took lessons, including dance...very interesting. I wonder if she quit because of frustration, or because she and her parents realized that she would only be good, not great? How painful, either way. 😕 I'll hazard a guess that Alyssa had this fantasy in her head of how public school was going to be. Oh, she knew it wasn't going to be perfect, but she 'didn't sign up to be made fun of'?? Sorry kiddo, kids are jerks. That's the sad, but harsh reality. If only Alyssa hadn't cared so much...dang.

Thank you! I originally was thinking of her strictly as a blank page, but after thinking on it for a bit, I realized she's actually just an incredibly over-crowded page. Alyssa does seem to be gifted in many things. Somewhat of a jack of all trades, master of none, and she's never been given the breathing room to stick to one thing and foster that talent. Also, you're right on the money with Alyssa's reaction to Min-Hyuk! I think that's the best way to describe it. Meg kinda feels like the scapegoat of the family. She's never good enough, and no matter what she does, she'll never shine as brightly as the golden child. It really is quite sad for her. I also agree about Alyssa's likely perception of how public school was going to be. I can somewhat relate to that as I attended private school until 6th grade. My class was really tiny, and because of that, the teachers were able to keep a close eye on us and make sure no one was being bullied or excluded, so I just kinda assumed that's how school was... until 6th grade happened lol it was super odd to me that people had "cliques" and what not because I hadn't grown up with that. I grew up fitting in because we were such a tiny class that pretty much everyone fit in, so I can understand why Alyssa might've thought she'd just fit in and why she feels insecure at the prospect of not fitting in. She had a narrow worldview, and this was a rude awakening for her.

I think this episode is really interesting because there's a emphasis on how many people like k-pop. If Alyssa was seeking validation from others, it would make sense that she then pursued the path that would lead to a high amount of support. It also seems like she used to downplay her talents a lot, which could maybe coincide with her having a low sense of self worth and then got external validation for pursuing a talent that others see value in. If Kousuke and Alyssa end up together, I think it would be healthy for both of them to first separately pursue what they would each like to do and see their value that's not tied to external factors in order to develop a better sense of self. I'm starting to like Alyssa's character more and am excited for the potential of her character development! 😄
@himetsuki2 жыл бұрын
Agreed! It's very interesting how much emphasis has been placed on the kpop and dancing. It definitely seems like an important factor in her decision to pursue a career in those fields. She very much wants to be popular, so I think this is a big reason why she chose to do something that's popular. I honestly have no idea how I would feel about Alyssa and Kousuke together lol but it's definitely interesting to note the similarities between them. I agree that they'd both have a lot to work on in terms of personal growth before either would be ready to have a healthy relationship, but either way, I'm also excited to see where Alyssa's character goes 0.0

Oh no! Please Kousuke and Alyssa don't belong together. It's funny how when people ship Kousuke and Shin ae, you will see comments like "Kousuke is way too old" but Alyssa and Shin ae are the same age. And Alyssa and Kousuke don't make sense at all. Alyssa has a mentality which is different from Kousuke. Kousuke even hates people who are opportunistic and Alyssa is one of them. For me personally, Kousuke need to be single without any females attachment. I want him to develop by himself and for himself. Alyssa and Shin ae can have Nol.
@himetsuki2 жыл бұрын
@@suealvin1274 Yeah, personally I don't really ship Kousuke with anyone at the moment, especially not Alyssa. I just find the similarities between them really interesting, but generally speaking, I agree. I think it's important for Kousuke to develop by himself. He needs time to learn how to empathize with others, express himself in a healthier way, and just simply figure out who he is, and I think that's a journey he needs to take without romance involved.

gah it hurt me so much when i read how Alyssa gets all the support from her parents and not Meg. No wonder Meg was so easily influenced by Yui and Kou ugh. Also i'm always blown away by all the parallels Quim puts in, and even in the most unlikely of pairs - Kou and Alyssa. I wonder if Alyssa's need to be popular came from her need for external validation and maybe also indirectly from Meg? Like, i remember in an episode before the formal, meg called Kousuke from her phone and a ton of her friends' phones, when Kousuke blocked her number. Maybe seeing Meg have a lot of friends also made Alyssa want to be popular.
@himetsuki2 жыл бұрын
I feel so sad for Meg. She is the scapegoat, and Alyssa the golden child. I hope she succeeds and kicks ass and finds lots of happiness in life. Quim's parallels are great. It's interesting because Alyssa and Kousuke's upbringings were so different, and yet, they have a lot in common. I also like your point about external validation because it's probably pretty difficult to get internal validation when you're constantly hopping between things and never get the chance to foster anything and see your efforts pay off. Also a good point about Meg. Alyssa could very well be jealous of Meg's friendships... and if that's the case, then this is likely still the case. Alyssa is now popular, but she doesn't seem to have many genuine bonds with the people around her, and I'd imagine she probably does want that, even if she won't admit it.

You are absolutely right about Kousuke liking classical music, because he was most likely listening to a piece by Mozart (judging by the quote borrowed from the 1984 film Amadeus, which we all read many episodes ago). I will be making a snobbish remark here, being educated in music myself, but with Kousuke being the way he is, I could see him finding something to complain about with Alyssa's musical preferences, since Dvorak and Tchaikovsky are from a different musical time period, commonly referred to as the Romantic period, while Mozart is from the Classical period. I really hate to say this, because I don't like Alyssa at all, so even hinting at any sort of understanding makes me want to vomit, but I understand being snubbed when she mentions liking orchestral music (as it should more properly be called; or even concert music), because some people think it just makes you seem boring, or judgemental, or too smart for others, which I don't get. I mainly listen to film soundtracks, and even many of the stupid idiots I went to school with referred to it as "classical" music, which obviously it is not. And even if it hinted towards older musical styles, so what? Some of the more popular artists used orchestral music, even opera, as a reference (Bohemian Rhapsody anybody?). I guess I had my own gag moment for Alyssa as well...I never want to do that again 🤢🤮. Always enjoy the "word vomit".
@himetsuki2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting about the different time periods and makes me want to know more about Kousuke's music tastes haha I wonder if he is strictly a Classical period guy or if he likes music from other periods 0.0 I also still don't like Alyssa haha but I think she's interesting, and I can relate to her in some ways because I'm sure most humans have felt the need to fit in or be popular at some point in our lives. I know I did. Once I graduated, I stopped caring, but in high school and junior high and middle school, oh boy did I want to fit in and be "popular" and "cool." Obviously that doesn't justify her wrongs, but I get where she's coming from, and you're totally right! Alyssa does seem to be interested in things that many would find "lame," and I think she likely chose to engage in things she felt others would think of as cool. I also like movie soundtracks sometimes haha I'm very mood-driven when it comes to music. Sometimes I like soundtracks, sometimes pop, sometimes lofi. It really just depends on the day, but instrumental music and cinematic styles of music can be great when I'm writing scripts sometimes XD Thank you as always for the comment :)

@@himetsuki I was thinking, and it seems that the play or film (whichever you prefer) of Amadeus seems to have a part in the relationship between the brothers, Kousuke and Yeon-Gi; Kousuke reminds me of Salieri, and Yeon-Gi reminds me of a more subtle version of Mozart (their portrayals in the film specifically). I could be way off, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
@himetsuki2 жыл бұрын
@@garrettbays6942 It's been so long since I've seen Amadeus that I can't really remember much about it, but I can definitely see Nol as Mozart in the sense that he seems to be very naturally talented/gifted. He took to working at the business so easily and excelled at it in ways that I don't think Kousuke was able to at Nol's age without significant effort.

I don't care what anyone says but Alyssa needs her redemption arc. Please Quimchee, stop focusing too much on the main characters and give us some good content about side characters like Alyssa, Maya and Dieter. Maya for example had a potential of becoming a great character in this story but she just went blank as soon as her brother came back from US. But anyways I hope Alyssa's content becomes more so we can have an in-depth analysis of her personality. Note: No one should ship Kousuke and Alyssa 😆 😂. Please leave my boy alone. He needs no love interest.
@himetsuki2 жыл бұрын
I personally am very interested to know what Quim plans on doing with Alyssa. Is there potential for her to become a redeemable character? Or does Quim have other ideas for her? I really don't know. For me, I don't really care much for Alyssa, so I'm fine either way, but I definitely agree that many of the side characters are very interesting, and I'd love to know more about them. I think it's just a lot of characters and a lot of storyline to juggle all at once, which results in some elements and characters kinda fading into the background unfortunately, but hopefully we'll learn more further down the line :) Yeah, I don't really like the idea of Alyssa and Kousuke together. I find their similarities interesting, and maybe they can relate to each other in some ways, but I agree. I don't really think Kousuke needs a love interest. I think, for the development that I anticipate he'll eventually get, it's better for him to take that journey without any romantic relationship involved.
