It takes time to gain the trust of a congregation. I love what you said about how long the lady in your church attended. Building trust in leading worship begins with humbling ourselves in submission, meaning our mission subservient to the church/Pastor’s mission. Use your youthfulness and a servants heart to bring them with you over time into conversion of change ideas.

Thank you so much for answering my question and for giving me the harsh truth. It was very humbling, I really needed it. Also I wasn't offended, I absolutely agree with you. I love the point you made with the woman at your church, I will make sure to have that mindset. Also, what I meant by "one of the worship leaders" was that each of us rotate on who "leads" which entails song choices and choosing which members to play the following Sunday. Thankfully I do have a good relationship with the pastor and other members and leaders on the worship team. Also the type of church I go to is basically a reformed baptist church so we are very emphatic on biblically based and doctrinely sound teaching and songs, but just like most reformed baptist churches, expressive praise is not emphasized so our church seems pretty "dead." But I agree with you on not shoehorning the expressiveness. In terms of the scripture examples I gave, I chose Romans 12:1 because I interpret it as offering our bodies as a living sacrifice in absolutely every area of our lives, especially how we present our bodies when praising the Lord through music. I do acknowledge that that is not what this passage is primarily saying but I believe it is reasonable to come to conclusion that it can be implied in Romans 12:1, but that may be a stretch. I do think I should be more careful with that next time. Definitely not a great passage to use in this context. Thank you again for your "real answer." Your channel has contributed to my spiritual growth in this new leadership role that I am in. Keep on serving the Lord. God bless you!
