Anna Farrugia the body was already dead. Taxidermy is also a very old practice you’re being very disrespectful. If you don’t like it just leave and click a new video. To say something is disgusting and pathetic is very annoying of you. Animals will die, some need to kill animals to survive like the Inuits. They reuse the animal and can do whatever they like. Sometimes we also need to kill animals because the population is so great and it will effect the ecosystem. You’re very ignorant and it shows.

She seems like a really kind person! As a future biologist, I can only admire that she's a taxidermist. Giving dead animals a second life or preserving them for science is really great. I get that people get upset about this, but I don't see any negativity in doing this if you do it with respect and as long as the animals died of a natural cause.

@stakeoutrockhound523 you really just have to go out and find them and hope they aren't super decomposed.......I do not know how to stuff I haven't tried it yet......but I have mummified some squirrel limbs and worked with some bones...... I then put those in a shadowbox.....over the past week I've been looking into classes and permits because it seems like that's the proper way to go. I've always been interested in preserving nature. I usually find dead bugs and I try to re create a habit inside a jar or a bottle so it looks authentic....sort of like a dead terrarium.......it takes a while to find an already dead bug or squirrel but if you go out looking you'll find them 😅 just got to lift up that log you'd never lift if you were just going on a walk.

@@annacohen-farrugia1786 hun. it's respectful because its honoring its life and giving the animal a second life. a lot of animals taxidermied died from natural causes, and if the animal were hunted it most likely was hunted for their meat. taxidermy isn't entirely "stuffing bodies". entomology is another kind of taxidermy in which it preserves insects and butterflies. also, did you hear what that person said? he said that there was a bird who was taxidermied that later went extinct, and now scientists can study it. it's upsetting that you said this because the taxidermists spend many hours on their works. if you find it upsetting then you can leave or find more information on it. if you find it not your cup of tea then you can leave.

You can tell she really loves these animals and she wouldn’t harm any of them. People will allow their loved ones to be embalmed and shown in a Wake once they’ve passed and I believe this is what this girl is doing as. She wants to take a horrible and sad situation and make it beautiful and she does her art to ensure these animals’ lives and remembered and she gives them a purpose even after they are gone. She knows that her art can really help others deal with grief, she allows them to see death as something more than just an end to a life and for people to attack her for this makes no sense and the commenters saying evil things, they are the real monsters for not respecting her work and her art. I 100% believe what she does is ethical and amazing. If something is not for you, then it’s not for YOU. Don’t do it, don’t watch it, but leave artists alone because if it’s not for you it’s for someone who can find the beauty in it and enjoy it.

My dad taught biology for 25 years and his room was full of taxidermied (mostly by him) animals, articulated skeletons, and specimens preserved in formaldehyde. A lot of commenters don't understand/comprehend that these can be used for educational purposes for students who may have never seen the animals and learn of their biology. Hands on science is the best, also displaying animals in their habitat can show students how they can hide in plain sight, such as snakes. A lot of the negative commenters probably never had a teacher put so much effort and enthusiasm into their passion that inspired generations of students to learn and love and perhaps pursue a career in biology. This was a fascinating video and I loved it.

It's a extremely heartbreaking experience to have an animal die in your hands, you can literally feel the life vanishing into thin air. It feels as if it descends from the top to bottom, in a vibrating, ring movement and then all of a sudden, emptiness and serenity followed by a rather large dose of sadness and despair. The only thing that helps is, knowing that these creatures didn't have to die alone. Some animals prefer to die alone, that is also difficult to accept but it has to be respected. I sincerely enjoyed every second of this Video, Thank you for sharing this. 🙂❤

I have so much respect for this industry after watching this video! It was super interesting. I just have one question, is it not a required rule to wear gloves in the taxidermy profession? For the protection of the person performing the service. I’ve seen a lot of gloveless hands, long nails and jewelry. I just figured a lot of animals carry diseases. No judgment just genuinely curious ☺️

It is not as far as I know, I'm not professional taxidermist but I do handle dead wildlife. I will cut up mice without gloves, but I'll end up washing my hands afterwards. I'm sure they do wash their hands at least!! I have a lot of respect for it as well too, very interesting.

@Xselleton
@Xselleton 4 жыл бұрын
@@p0lyxena yes but that is not the same thing. That process is done so that the ritual of saying goodbye to loved ones could be done without people getting traumatised. The body isn't kept for display in a room of the family or whoever wants it. When we think of human bodies, we treat them with respect so that the person could 'rest in peace' but we don't do the same thing with animals even though we recognize their rights, like making sure they survive, have natural habitats etc. I am not saying thinga like this should or should't be done, I am just raising the question of why is one thing different from the other. Why would one thing be considered immoral and the other just something we do as a part of culture. More things we just do in society should be questioned. That is my only point.

Xselleton That’s kind of a curious question when you think about it. I have no need to stuff my dead pets, who died of natural causes, and instead buried them like I would a human loved one. I assume both men and women are likely to have something stuffed and it’s not only a “man’s thing” but maybe it has something to do with hunting and showing off your trophy, your prize? Most people I talk to about it, that’s their reasoning.

the last part where she talked abt taking care of the kittens before they died rlly hits me because I've been in the same shoes. sometimes in july-august 2019 someone dumped 5 premature kittens at the back of my house. they weren't even the premature kittens you'd find if you googled 'premature kittens'. they were even younger.. i knew they weren't gonna live long but me and my siblings did our best to take care of them. after the 4 died and i burried them all, we were left with one kitten. it actually died in my hands while i was watching Moana. ever since I haven't associated that movie with good memories. or even those diy warming pads made out of rice and a sock, they just remind me of all 5 dead kittens

Ena Lo the way I think of it is that taxidermy of animals is like when we agree to donate our body to science when we pass away. You don’t see alive humans trapped in museums and zoos for people to see. As for science experiments, most humans gave permission to be in a science experiment. Animals were captured and experimented on. I think it’s better for an alive animal to live it’s life in the wild where they belong. As for taxidermy, when an animal passes away, it is preserved for the sake of science and to give the animal another life. I know that you don’t like taxidermy partial because you’re vegetarian, but with the taxidermy bodies of these animals, we wouldn’t be able to save millions of endangered animals out there. There’s a reason why most humans donate there bodies to science, they believe that their body can be a source for scientist to find new discovers and new cures to the world. If you don’t understand it, that is 100% understandable.

The problem is that the presenter is presenting the whole idea of taxidermy with a very closed mind as she does not really understand why and has not bothered to research the subject before presenting this show. Some people get their animals taxidermy because that is what brings them comfort in this cruel world . Yes the process is painful but their beloved has passed away and it’s better than burying them or burning them . One can die in peace knowing their beloved pet who meant the world to them and no humans can ever replace that gap will be buried with them when they die. Do not make assumptions without fully understanding why some people choose to taxidermist their beloved pets or anything. There is great learning to be gained from this.
