Folks with MS suffer this quite frequently (being wrongfully accused of being drunk)

I knew a bloke with (?) Meniers disease. Balance trouble. He was considered drunk more than once.

The thing is, a frail octogenarian is not a danger to anyone but himself in practically any circumstances except behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, so even if he had been pissed as a newt it's hard to see good grounds for denying him boarding. Maybe they had oversold the flight and saw an easy way to free up a couple of seats.

This reminds me of those Traffic Cops shows where they pull a suspected drink driver over. The driver says they've had one small drink but then blow 3 or 4 times over the limit. And why would the airline call the police?
@simonharris4873Ай бұрын
Because they overbooked the flight.

We just don’t know the other side of the story from the airline’s perspective but it must’ve been pretty serious if they called the police… Just because he’s elderly, doesn’t mean he can’t kick up a stink and he admitted he’d had alcohol, he just played down how much he’d actually had

It's normal for outfits in the wrong to "go nuclear" and try criminalise a customer (by involving the cops). Govt entities are notorious for it

@@icouldbewrongicouldberightit happens, but it's actually very rare. It's way more trouble than it's worth for the most part.

They made a mistake and knew it so they called the police to try and criminalise him and his partner

He was a bit pissed - let's face it. I used to take my father in law to Germany - he had had a major stroke . He didn't drink, but me , being afraid of flying, would be six large gins up before I even rolled his wheelchair to the departure lounge. Swings and roundabouts.
