I'm A Fan. [PS5]

Need a fan for your PS5? Some countries are just hotter than others and if you want to protect your expensive PS5 then maybe you need this powerful cooling fan! Personally I have functioning air conditioning but if you don't then this might be the solution you need.

Usually these are snake oil. You need someone like Gamer’s Nexus to measure CPU temps with this on and off to verify if it makes an actual difference.

@@xdjrunner But you don't know for sure where this temp readout are getting the numbers from, most likely it is reading out the temp from right underneath the fan, not the actual chip itself. So to properly test this you would need probes inside the PS5 to measure accurately. Also the PS5 is designed to pull in air from the front corners and then push out the air at the back. It is a very deliberate one-way path for the air to travel and having a fan like this would disrupt that, possibly making it worse.

@mackantosh that makes sense, especially since the airflow is already being pulled by the built-in fan. I assumed this cooling unit was taking advantage of the airflow from the built-in fan. The PS5 teardown video from Sony goes over these locations, so I am sure he could easily place the nodes for an accurate read. I would love to see him take a shot at a project like that. This channel has really good attention to detail and is one of the reasons I watch.

What a cooling fan like these should do is actually having a bigger, more efficient and quieter fans that the one inside the PS5 doesn't need to ramp up that much. If it can be quieter than how it is right now, I'd be happy.

Honestly the ps5 doesn’t need it, you just need to be mindful of where you place the ps5.

You could probably add a mesh over that. You also need to make a note that this is only compatible with the original PS5 and not the current 'Slim' PS5.

will the ps5 still stand vertical? or does it fall over now? i blow out the dust from my consoles with compressed air from time to time. that's what keeps them cool for me.

Is it sucking air out or pushing air in? This makes a big difference when considering dust accumulation.

This thing doesn't make sense, higher exhaust temp can mean either that cooling system works very effectively and cpu temps are under control, or it can mean that cpu is overheating while cooling system doesn't work effectively

No one should buy this. These extra clip-on fans have been a thing since the Xbox 360 days and have been proven to be a waste of money. Often making the temps worse or within a margin of error of 1-2 degrees better.

How is this fan being powered? If its being powered by the PS5, it kinda defeats the purpose. That's how a lot of Xbox 360s broke back in the day. There was a fan being sold for the 360 but it required the 360 itself to power it and it ended up making the 360 do more work. If this isn't powered separately, it might actually break your PS5.
