Not all women can do this job... ALSO not all men can do this job. Doesn't matter if you're a guy or a girl, if you can do the job, then you can do the job.
@Howard3S6 жыл бұрын
You are blurring things together. Sorry, It does matter. Check the NBA, the NFL. tennis golf, marathons, any true pro sport, men are far stronger, tougher and have more endurance, more muscle chemistry than women in general. The physical agility testing nowadays is either a dual version scaled by gender and age, or a single watered down "test" that anyone could pass. At one time NO FEMALE could pass the entry level test. NOw they can. Did they suddenly get bigger and stronger or were the tests pussified? Google the US Marine corps testing of male, female and mixed combat groups in a 30 day combat simulation test where every one was wired up and lots of data on each marine was collected scientifically. Guess who performed well, failed, and nearly failed of these three groups? I see a state trooper with the hat falling over her ears who is not even tall enough to see over the roof of the patrol car standing up, what a symbol of the elite law enforcers in the state. Crap.

when my life becomes more situated I am going to be a volunteer firefighter. I think it's a great thing to do and I would gain useful knowledge when I graduate university and become a police officer. there are some female fighters at our local stations and they're smaller than me but could easily throw me over their shoulder if they had to. all of these ppl are inspirational :)

I am a cadet and I am a girl and I am the only one that is going to the business days and training days every month and I am so glad that I choose to do this I want to be a full-time firefighter like living in the firehouse. the reason why I wanted to be a firefighter is that I want to help people so they don't have to go through what I have to go through at the age of 12 my house burnt down and the firefighters put it out in minutes and I thought that was amazing and cool but we had lost everything but I am glad to be in the fire service even though I am not an actual firefighter I am a cadet but I am getting there I am serving my community. i hope that every girl out there knows that you can do it you can be a cop, firefighter, EMT, paramedic, anything you want

For so long I have been 100% against women in the fire service....1. because they end up lowering the standards for them like we've seen in NYC and other cities. I hate the idea that we should care more about feelings and not offending people, rather than whether or not they can operate at the high level the job sometimes requires. and 2. because of all the women who seem to argue for equality in the military or fire service, etc, none of them are the ones who actually want to serve. they make arguments for other people, when all I see is a bunch of out of shape, undisciplined women, yelling about how strong they really are and I think its a joke....HOWEVER, that being said. I really liked this woman in the video. She seemed like she had a good head on her shoulders, and I like how she believes women should be at a higher standard. She understands the perceptions and the reality. I would support this woman serving in the fire service, assuming she can physically do the job 100%....Combat is a COMPLETELY different story, but I will humbly concede that women like Shanah should be able to serve in the fire service. Thanks for reading this worthless opinion of mine. Haha God Bless America and all her warriors/public servants!

That's the problem with how people view women in a male-dominated workforce. People look for them to fail and so they typically only notice those who don't try as hard or work for it like those of us women who bust our asses to get where we are. I've met too many women who think they can get by on lower standards simply because they're women or that they can't meet the same standards as male. But I know many women who are cops, firefighters, and soldiers who train to be the best and they certainly are among the best.

if you gave 12 female firefigers a saw and axes and told them to open the roof it would take hours. It is fun and games until a good fire comes in, then the ladies need to get out of the way while the men work.

Back in the day, NO female applicant passed the physical agility screening. Today, they do. What? did they get suddenly super developed? No. either there are two standards (scaled by gender and age) or a totally dumbed down test that anyone can pass. The US Marine corps did an extensive test with independent scientists wiring up all male, mixed, and female combat units on a 30 day simulated combat exercise. Guess who passed, who barely failed and who totally failed in combat readiness. In public safety, we can't segregate by gender or compensate. This is a social experiment that will cost safety and lives. Almost NO women are truly qualified for public service safety professions. Do you want "the Mr. frig" coming up to haul you out of the fire building or "Ms. peter pan." Now, mind you, we have enough issue with males losing muscle and general strength as they get older, what do you think women will be like at the end of their careers here? There is a reason there are no women in the NBA, the NFL, Majopr league baseball, or directly competing iwth men in golf, tennis, etc etc. We are differently built. If one in a hundred men should qualify, it MIGHT be one in a thousand women, but so far, in the last hold out marine corps, the NFL or the NBA, it is separate, and NOt equal at all. It is that simple, women cannot perform physically at the level of a man. Don;t tell me abouit positive attitude or child bearing, tell me about the woman who is a front 4 blocker for the NFL?
@ffirestop5 жыл бұрын
I think there is a lot of women that are stronger then men. And if a women wants devot her life to put out fires and save lives who are we to tell her she cant. PS. my local fire department does not make the fiscal or mental test any easer on the female or male firefighters. They are treated the same.

We'd have all female fire departments and someone would have to get on their tippie toes to put the hose back in the bed. For now, we pretend that we are all the same and not smaller and weaker and unqualified to drag a 4 inch hose or carry any adult male down a ladder.
