Happy to hear you enjoyed Assassin’s Apprentice! I thought the next book in the series was fantastic so I’m excited to hear your thoughts. I like the aesthetics, ideas, and retellings of Alice in Wonderland more than the book itself, which I agree can be a bit confusing and dull. The Queen of Hearts, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, Eat Me/Drink Me stuff is all so iconic.

I 100% agree with you about the aesthetics and ideas of Alice in Wonderland and liking them more than the book itself. Soo many iconic moments.

So glad you liked The Martian. Definitely try the movie 😍 Now I'm worried about why people like Peter Pan when it seems this problematic 😬 I reread Alice last year and it's so wild. But like other commentors, the aesthetics is where it's at 😘 anything Alice I love.

Haha I'm glad I re-read it too, and anything is much better when compared to Peter Pan 😂

I have the name of the wind and have been so on the fence about it because of the fact that the series is incomplete and the book is so big but I will just dive in and try it and see what I think. Glad you liked it! Also I missed your wrap ups :3 Peter Pan is AWFUL so much racism, not appropriate, horrible... hard agree with everything you said. So glad you enjoyed assassin's apprentice! I recently hauled it in so I am looking forward to the character as I am a character driven reader. Love the martian and I did fall head over heels in love with it. And it was a focus on the character I agree. But fair enough about the things you didn't like as much. I struggled with alice in wonderland a lot too :P

I'm really happy to hear you liked The Name of the wind as well as Assassins Apprentice. I'm just about to start Dragon City tonight and I'm really excited especially since you gave it a 5 star. Shadowghast is also on my TBR for this month. I'll definetely be getting Danger at dead mans pass once it is out. I last read Peter Pan as a kid in the early 90's and I'm shocked it had inappropriate stuff in it. I may have to re read it as an adult to form a more subjective opinion.

Nice wrap up! I read Peter Pan recently for the first time. Peter brings Wendy to Neverland to be a mother to the lost boys -- ew! Peter still has his baby teeth -- ew! Captain Hook was an interesting villain but not interesting enough to redeem this creepy piece of trash. Alice at least had some interesting action towards the end -- tea party, croquet match, trial. I wonder if you've read Wizard of Oz. I really liked it.

I need to read this Ace of Spades, you seem so excited about it so I need to get it off my shelf and get it read. I am binge reading the Caraval series just now and loving it, I am waiting for my finished copy of EOTV to turn up so I will then be locked away til I have read the book, so excited. If I can squeeze this book in I will do but with two readathon’s in one month and I am trying to complete as much of the magical readathon I can this time round, hopefully I get the time 🤗

Absolutely loved The Martian, it did annoy me at the beginning when he was on about poo and potatoes as that is all he spoke about for ages but getting passed all that I thought the book was great. I haven’t watched the movie either. Agree with the funny moments and I used the audiobook too and it was good.

You've touched on why I dislike Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie. I thank you for that, I find few people who see it the same way. I mean I consider Peter Pan to be dark in all of its iterations, but the classic just gives me the creeps and has some themes that I dislike. But If you do want a dark Peter Pan fantasy, I recommend The Child Thief by Brom. It's a great book, and this is the Peter Pan I prefer. Dark and twisted.

I'm happy to hear that I'm not only one who didn't love Peter Pan. Other readers told me that I didn't understand Peter Pan's character but Peter is selfish spoiled brat and I don't care to understand Pete's behavior 🙄 You enjoyed The Martian. Hearing this makes me happy 😊 I think you will also enjoy the audiobook of Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
