Alonzo, well done, a great tune for call and response in small jams. Bravo.

Lonnie Donegan introduced me to this one, I've always been very fond of it. I liked your version a lot!

Thanks! Didn't know Lonnie had done it, but it's no surprise, he being a big Lead Belly fan as well. I'll look up that one!

It's very, very old. I've heard Jelly Roll Morton credit himself as the composer on the Library of Congress tapes, but there's no reason to believe his version was anything more than an arrangement, if that. Many old-timers had a version cobbled together from vernacular scraps. Favorite version is Lead Belly with Woody and Cisco. I love the wild, anarchic sound of all those recordings. Nice job, amigo.

Thanks! Yes, well according to Jelly Roll, he invented everything, didn't he? The Huddie-Woody-Cisco hoot is the only version I've ever heard of this one (as opposed to "Alabamy Bound", a song I've never been too excited by, though Ray Charles made somewhat of a silk purse out of it.) Anyway, do you know where I might hear any other versions of this one?

There is version on the internet Lonnie Donegan with Van Morrison. Just love the sound of a 12 string!

Diggin' your 12 string blues, bro

Nice playing. I'm fully engaged just beating on my 6 string box. I can't even imagine trying to play those riffs on a 12 string.
