I’m an AMG Convert: Collecting my Perfect M3 Touring from BMW M!

My Perfect #BMW M3 Touring arrives! 😈 Welcome back to RBR and it’s #NewCar day guys! Having owned over a dozen C63 AMGs, this would normally be when I would consider buying the new one - But I don’t think I’ll be getting a 4 cylinder hybrid anytime soon, after my review of that car!
My journey to the M3 Touring started back when I was involved in the car’s first Teaser video in the “M Town Drop” - with BMW CEO Marcus famously sitting in the boot, I got to see the car very early on! Despite having the E63 Wagon and Taycan ST in the house - this car was compelling enough to bring into the RBR fleet.
The spec of totally unexpected for me too - I had originally spec’d the typical Frozen Grey look with red interior, as shown in the press car - but a friend’s M3 inspired me to go totally balls to the wall! 🤓 I’ve chosen the individual colour of Aventurine Red Metallic, alongside the Silverstone and Black two tone interior. I also spec’d up the “Ultimate Pack” in the UK, which gives you the epic carbon buckets along with a host of other options.
FYI: I’ll be going through every UK package in the video too including the technology plus pack, comfort pack, and M Pro Package.
I’m collecting the car today from BMW Berry in Croydon, South London, with the infamous “TRL” Tony Lewis! Bought every BMW I’ve ever had from these guys, but even I didn’t get a discount on the Touring thanks to the wait list! 🤣 Regardless, they’re extremely professional especially when things go wrong, and also throw in freebies to sweeten the deal - can’t recommend highly enough: / trldeals
Today I’ll be travelling on train to Croydon, we’ll go over the spec there and then bring the car back home to have a proper drool over it! :)

Will soon replace the two Mercedes in the garage with two BMWs. My wife and I are car people. From down sizing engine displacement, and soon forcing EVs on us, we have had enough. Not to mention the fake exhaust tips! BMW is not falling for the rush to have everyone drive EV.

I would choose red interior with this color. Its going together much nicely! But I guess its kind of a personal taste.

It's not for Merc it's for Ferrari and other companies too. Generally 8 cyl V8 don't meet requirements so it's either 4 cyl or 6cyl. Bmw are lucky that they have a good 6cyl platform, Merc do too but idk why they didn't use it maybe cuz of requirements again... In the end everyone will go 4cyl just a matter of time

AMG never made a better driving car than the M3. Not once. The C63 was better in sound, yes, but not in driving, which is the real deal. Remember how the Top Gear trio agreed on the fact that the E90 M3 is better than the C63? Exactly.

I get mine in September, been waiting 18 months…. Colour wise I’ve gone old school…. Techno violet with Ivey white leather, full ceramics, full carbon pack, ordered a CSL bonnet, front bumper & wheels (used my M4 CSL chassis number to get these👌) which will be painted & fitted before collection, in total £113.869😳🙄

Yes!!! Had a feeling this was coming given the C63 downgrade! What a Sunday treat for us Raz, great to see Tony on your channel as well. As far as the color, the red didn't seem to be a Raz color but love the interior color. I know my i4 M50 isn't a nearly full M product, but this still makes me want to say welcome to the club - of course, the Laser lights , carbon fiber trim and 50th M badges (I have all these) - great choices - I am so glad given the delay in my car - i was able to fall into that March - to March period. Looking forward to the videos with this car! P.S. Yes those seats, though a bit awkward to get in and out of, so damn comfortable and yes, love the digital key features. Don't need to have the key on hand if I just need to run to the car real quick etc. Such a great feature.

KW H.A.S. is a must. I have them on my G87 and the ride quality is great. Get it lowered by an inch and get spacers to finish off the look.

Can I ask, how do you find the insurance with these (admittedly mild) mods? I gave up changing my old M4 from stock simply because it made the insurance a nightmare.

You can enable proximity detector on your vehicle, and it will automatically unlock when you approach to the car with your phone in your pocket. No need to put it in the wireless charger to turn the car on either. Just sit and drive. I have it on my x5 and I love it!

The grille works a lot more with these touring proportions What a beautiful colour combo. The hype was black ages ago. Then red on white at some point after 2007 or 2008 or so. But this white on red definitely works like bread and butter I'd say modify the inner grille piece for thr CSL style one like Imran did on Evolve Automotive. Then its perfect

Funny you say that I think it works a lot better on coupes opposed to longer slimmer vehicles. That kind of grille is so outlandish only a sports coupe could make it look half decent

Personally I'll still stick to AMG. Out the box M cars aren't the best unless u tune them. City driving/ lower gears / daily driving its not as smooth. Especially a new car I'm not thinking to tune since it's under warranty.

Top tip for anyone considering the carbon package. You don’t get much carbon fiber to justify the price. The only reason I got it was for that front bumper element shown at 9:56 in the video. I didn’t like the plastic honeycomb look. Well I later found out that the same diagonal “shark fin” exists behind the honeycomb and all you have to to is just pull the plastic out if you like the look of those

I’m the same. Big AMG fan until their current lineup, absolutely just boring. Still have my C63, but ended up also getting the M3C and then trading for the M2CS manual. I hardly drive the C63 now. There’s a reason the 2 most popular cars you see at the tracks are BMW and Porsche.

Shouldn’t comfort access plus allow you to enter and start the car without having to put it in near the handle or in the tray, though? While comfort access (non-plus) should have that requirement.

Comfort-access means key fob stays in your pocket and you can start the car without having to remove it. Also it adds the kick-under-bumper-to-open-boot-mechanism, as well as not needing to unlock the car with the press of a button, the car senses when you have the keys on your person and when you’re nearby all you need to do is touch the door handles and the car unlocks itself, and also locks by merely touching a certain spot on the door handle after getting out.this is how it works on my 2016 f80 m3 comp, so it should be the same or improved with the g80 series.
