This story triggered a long forgotten memory. When I was about 5ish (30 years ago), I had a nightmare about a closet in my childhood bedroom. In the UK, closets are rare, and at that age, I didn't know what a closet was. In my nightmare , I went into my bedroom and a closet that didn't exist, suddenly appeared and opened up. A Monster came charging out towards me, yelling in a demonic voice "IT'S YOUR FAULT I'M HERE!". That nightmare messed me up for weeks 😂. I had forgotten all about it until now.

I'm 47 and have always had a fear of closets. I saw Poltergeist at like 6 years old and it led to a severe fear of closets. It was even worse in my childhood bedroom bc it had 2 closets. One was a normal closet with the doors that fold open the other blended into the dark wood paneling that the walls had on them. To this day I can't stand to have the closet door open especially when I'm trying to sleep. I swear that on more than one occasion I saw a furry little creature in my closet when I was very young kid

Rule of law to note: Never lie to the FBI because that is a Federal charge. A felony in fact. That is why some state police have an FBI agent embedded during questioning (depending upon the kind of case of course) so you have a better incentive to tell the truth. Or you can plead the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution of course. This read I am salivating for...

Never, never in your life should you agree to be interviewed by the agents of the FBI. Only with your own attorney present do you chat with those guys. This story is terrifying, not because of the monster within it. But instead because of all the nights I've held a crying child explaining to them that there's nothing in the closet. Telling them that the shadows can't hurt them, missing children's stories are always the worst.

Closet stories scare me to death ever since 2009 my oldest son was 4 and I was tucking him in and he said mommy the monster in my closet keeps laughing at me and the one under my bed keeps yanking my feet. Even as an adult it scared me so bad that I blurted out don't say that, there's no monster but trying to convince myself and I hated his closet since then. One of those that's long and even with the light on the back is still dark.

That is just sad. I just have some questions. Did it happen to all other detectives that went to her son's room? If not, is it because he didn't turn around like the woman was expecting him to do? The monster followed him, right? What if he and the woman were possessed by the dark thing and they were the ones who are responsible for their son's death, but weren't able to recall it?

Great story, but one thing bothers me. If he knew how it spread, why would he want another parent to lose their child? That actually goes against the psychology of a parent who just lost their child. Why didn't he ask if anyone was a parent before suggesting that they check the closet. He's FBI. He should be bright enough to distract one with kids so one without could look in. I know, a little thing...I am not trying to f up the fantasy....but the end seemed out of character for the FBI agent who seemed wary and scared before. Maybe I am just overthinking this. Love the narration!
