Hey, so just some input here, but it was originally referred to as soccer by the British. The British started calling it football along with the rest of the British colonies once America continued to call it soccer after the British lost the revolutionary war I do believe it was. Kinda like the American accent is the original British accent and the British accent of today was a fake accent used by the high class people of England to differentiate themselves from everyone else.

First of all, it is called soccer in many other countries as well, including Canada, Australia, NZ, Ireland as well as a few African countries. Most Americans that actually watch soccer/football would tend to agree that we are not the best in the world at the sport. But to say that we as Americans think that America is better than everybody else just because we call it something different is ignorant on your part. As I said, many other countries call it soccer. I also understand it is upsetting and pisses you, me and everybody else off, but to also call it an "Americanization" of something is outright ridiculous. I may be the ignorant one on this part, but I fail to see how America is destroying something in Europe. These teams are owned by many different people globally. Stop blaming only America for this. There are many other parties and countries involved. I get you are upset, but come on man.

Four of the club's owners are American, they bought these clubs knowing that they would make lots of money. They don't understand how Football works and can't get their heads around the concept of the European way such as relegation/promotion. They want to turn clubs into franchises similar to league such as the NFL, where every team is guaranteed a place whether or not they earned it. They don't understand that football clubs were developed by working class people in cities and have been an important part to communities since the 18th century for many clubs, unlike American franchises that can move be moved whenever they feel like it. That's what they want to do. That's what he means by 'Americanisation,'it's a term that has been used here in the UK for ages.

If the term "Americanization" did not have a negative connotation, then this would not be a problem with me. But the term is always used in a negative way. We just have our own way of things and just because a new league is similar in structure (no relegations, etc.), does not mean the structure is inherently bad. I also understand these clubs mean a lot to the fans and communities. But there are plenty of clubs and teams here in the US that have decades, if not over a hundred, years of history that have had HUGE impacts on their local communities as well without moving. Movement does not happen very often in American sports, and when it does, it is usually due to small fan engagement (and sometimes greedy owners). The teams in the super league are not moving anywhere. They are just playing other good teams every week. I am also not arguing that this is a bad idea. I dislike this super league proposal as well. I am just tired of people on Twitter and other platforms blaming America, and only America, for things like this. Let's blame the greedy owners as a whole.

They European football leagues are all about merit, you earn a right to play in the biggest tournament in Europe (the Champions League) by finishing well in the league and if you're not good enough you go down to the league below. These team owners want the American system whether or not they're American because playing in Europe guarantees them money whether or not they deserve it. Furthermore it is not all about playing the big clubs week in week out, you have to earn the right to play the 'good teams' in this country. Arsenal are currently NINTH in the league yet they believe that they deserve to be in this Super League just because the owners see the ability to turn them into American-style franchise to line their pockets. It is literally reported that the American owners couldn't get their heads around the concept of relegation and a basically fair competition system that has been used for almost 150 years. While not all of the current 12 confirmed teams have have American owners, fans here feel as if this is a system and goes against basic sporting principals of merit and earning your way. These owners just want to be part of an elitist group where there's no threat of relegation where they can make their money. They don't care about the fans.

Amen on that brother. We should also call highways motorways and use the metric system as all, but the US and a few other countries, use the metric system as the main system; so it makes complete sense to switch. Finally, we should also start using the day-month-year system of the date as it makes more sense than the month-day-year system we have now. Even if switching over to the metric system is hard, changing the way we spell the date is easy. Plus, if you think about it, the day-month-year system is in order, and is used by more than half the world, were as our month-day-year system is not only out of order, and therefore doesn't make much sense, but we are literally the only country who spells the date that way. I agree that I am sick of being tested by other countries cause sometimes being different is not always better. I also think we should care more about our infrastructure, education, childcare, and gun violence because these issues are worse than people release. I live 45 minutes away from Sandy Hook Elementary so I know trust me. Sorry, but no offense, the Governor of Florida is kind of an idiot for thinking this tragic mass shooting was and is still not real; when in reality, it is. Sorry, it annoyed me when people call both Sandy Hook and 9/11 a hoax cause they are not as my parents knew people who died in both attacks. All I am trying to say is that maybe it sometimes America does need to keep up with the trends of the world, especially in technology and infrastructure cause no offense, but China is better than us at both categories, and they are our enemies. And what do you do with enemies, defeat them at their own game that is what. One more thing, no one tell me that the Covid 19 is a hoax cause I lost a close cousin, uncle, and grandfather to it. Also the attack on the capitol, which is what it was, was completely un American, stupid, and cowardly.
