Good idea Steve. I used to have 3 dogs [now down to 1] who went on the shore every day, my Hoover Turbopower 1, 575 watt motor [1996] it got broken, I bought an Electrolux "The Boss" 1400 watt, it left most of the sand in the carpet, seeing a 1994 U278 Hoover Turbopower in my local market I bought it, cleaned the carpet twice with the Electrolux, then went over once with the Hoover, you wouldn't believe how much sand I got out of the carpet, I still have that Hoover as my main cleaner

Great idea Steve - the comparisons of something old versus newer and the like would be very interesting - for example a face off between the various hoover juniors- or a first turbopower versus a latest one perhaps?

That's a good call. A 1983 TP versus a 1999 TP

Lovely to see your handsome face back on our screen 😉 We'd enjoy seeing some vintage machines in action and their performance stats. We think our flagpoles will be all aflutter.

Yes, yes, and yes to the deep clean tests. It always my favorite test in vacuum wars and it would be even more fun with vintage machine. Would love to see how vintage hoover and Electrolux preform!

Sounds like a great idea. It would certainly be interesting to see how well vintage machines perform.

What a brilliant idea, it really would be interesting to compare today's machines to those of yesteryear

Well I have to say that in an era where it's all "Photos or it didn't happen" and the belief that it's all about audience figures, likes, and shares, as opposed to pounds, shilling, and pence, it is truly refreshing to hear such honesty from a channel owner as to how they feel about their content. As a viewer, there are so many things I could comment on, but I don't, because like you say, you have to be in the mood, and of course it takes time. If I can't find my reason "why" (and very often I can't), then I don't do something. This is why I love commenting here, as I am made to feel like my contribution has some value. Moving on to the concept of testing the cleaners, I think it's a great idea. The Consumers Association did the exact same thing for their Which? magazine tests in the 1970s, and possibly before & after. I know this as I used to have a stash of old Which? magazines I bought from Ebay to help with work I was doing a few years ago. I recall clearly seeing a report from - I think - 1977, where photos showed dust being pressed into a carpet by what looked like a huge lawn roller, and the entire vacuum cleaner was weighed both before and after cleaning the carpet. A photo of an Electrolux 504 on a set of industrial scales accompanied the text that explained all of this. What I would like to see here is the test in video format of cleaners from the same range, and then an objective discussion in the comments here, by the viewers. For example, I'd like to see if there was any appreciable difference in the cleaning performance of a Senior, Starligjht, Convertible, and Junior, all of which were on sale together in the 1970s. From there, I'd be really keen to know what viewers thought of the outcome, and compared that to the price difference of the cleaners, the physical size of them, and if a smaller cleaner that performed to a lesser standard actually cleaned better overall in some homes due to the convenience of it making it easier to use, and so on & so forth. This, I remember well, was one of the many things I loved about the older Which? magazines, that comments were often objective, unlike what I found when I subscribed to it from 2011 to 2020. I recall from one article that the floor tool of the Electrolux 350E did not have side channels, meaning it did not clean right to the edge & therefore edges needed cleaning with the crevice tool, unlike the tool on the National cleaner which did, however, the 350E tool had proven to clean the carpet better over all than that of the National. Similarly, in a report on steam irons from the late 1980s, the (then) new Tefal steam station - with its separate water storage tank (not to be confused with steam generators of the present day that have a separate boiler unit) - was very expensive and described as being "a lot of more for what it is, but was well liked by our users". I really do miss that level of objectivity, on the basis that one man's meat (ooh err missus) is another man's poison. We can't all like, want, or need the same things.

I think its a great idea. Always thought hoover made better uprights and Electrolux made the better cylinders . Be nice to be proved right (or wrong come to think of it )

Hi Steve. It's a good idea doing the deep clean test. But take your inspiration from Vaclab. As hia methods are more scientifically accurate. You'd be better using 10g or 20g of sand or baking soda than 100g as you don't want to overload the test carpet. Plus make sure you clean the test carpet after so you don't get false results like this vacuum got 130% more dirt that you put down like ive seen on some other channels 😁 Hope your well.😊

I definitely will clean the test carpets between each use but we must remember that this is all just a bit of fun and in no way at all scientific!

Lovely idea sweetie. But how about a longevity test. ? Dyson versus the older vacuum cleaners? Strange how you see so many of these over priced monstrocities down the local junk tip in such short order. Ohhh, slap my wrists, shouldn't have said that. Sorcer of cream for table 10! Lol!!! 🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶🍶😃😃😃😃😃❤️❤️❤️❤️❌️❌️❌️❌️❌️❌️❌️
