I live at 4,000' right on the WA/BC border, and I'd say we are having a rough spring here. Not huge storms, but we get 4-6" of snow which turns into mud, and just when it's starting to firm up the cycle repeats. While this cycle is normal for spring here, it is the number of consecutive cycles that seems abnormally high.

It can be intimidating to be searched when crossing the border. As long haul truckers, my husband and I have crossed back and forth from Canada into the USA (including Alaska) and back again numerous times per year. It helps to be prepared, and to be able to answer all questions when asked, and to know which items can or can't cross. It is part of our job to cross the border, and is usually routine, unless you are questioned by an irritated border agent, and don't have a precise answer to their question. I have since started keeping a written log of each of our border crossing locations, and date, and can now answer exactly the last time we were at that port of entry. The onboard searches are part of their job to keep everyone safe, and can be embarrassing, but it's all OK. Glad to know you made out alright.

I got so nervous that I was accidentally smuggling drugs across the border without knowing haha! definitely an experience to remember.

The man who approched you probably spotted you from across the river while you were plunging in the frigid water. He had probably been watching you with his binoculars and decided to take a closer look 👀👀. He most definitely wanted to see if you were alone. And it's not a coincidence that the man took off just as soon as he heard Simon's name. It's quite reassuring that you didn't camp alone this time 😊😁. As to the search at the border, I am afraid that your skin complexion had something to do with it. Don't ever, ever let it discourage you from traveling to Canada, though. Stay safe!

Always a race-baiter around.. She said she has been back and forth a bunch of times and never searched, does she somehow have a different complexion now? Read the comments, plenty of white people have been searched as well.. its part of their job, they have to search a certain percentage of peeps entering. And your "Im afraid your complexion had something to do with it" is pure projection. lol
