My husband fell into the habit of watching your house/reno videos with me. He pretends he doesn't care but has asked, "Is Loepsie back yet?" at least three times in August 😆We're both glad you're back!

Keep the extra refrigerator either turned on or keep the doors open if you decide to keep it off. Like a other commenter said…it gets smelly when they are turned off. Everything is looking great!!
@stone.durfey58622 жыл бұрын
When a refrigerator is turned off, you must leave the doors open a bit. Or it will mold and smell really bad..just in case you didn't know 😊. Your home is coming along well and looks lovely. And oh boy your library, all those shelves. My hearts dream. Looking forward to seeing the kitchen done and your space decorated. So excited for it all.😄💞💛

Totally agree. Pls excuse me for this but Loepsie, if you read it I think you should know that automatic captions translate Slovakia as SLOVENIA XD Have you thought of putting closed captions or maybe even single subtitles for when the algorithm gets sth very wrong?

Never underestimate the power of a second fridge. Also never underestimate the power of a dishwasher - as a longtime apartment dweller, I'd about kill for the option. The house is coming along so well. Can't wait to see what you do with your studio space. Welcome back. You are making so much progress on your home and I can't wait to see the finished kitchen. Oh, just a tip... If you can, leave your second fridge plugged in and running. Shut off fridges can get really, really stinky. I'm talking there isn't enough baking soda in the world stinky. Ask me how I know. 👀

I remember when you used to live in that little studio before you moved in with Robert- you only had like a few pieces of furniture if I remember correctly. It's so fulfilling to see how much you've grown and how far you've come. Cheers, friend, to many more years 🎉

You can keep your fridge turned off but make sure it is thoroughly cleaned and dried beforehand and put something in there to absorb any moisture while it's off. So excited to see this video in my feed. I'm avidly following your Reno journey. Can't wait to see your new kitchen!

I'd suggest you consider insulating the ceiling in the utility room. It would be a relatively straightforward job. It will help with extremes of temperature. And I see someone else already suggested a dehumidifier.
@dulcieandrews7122 жыл бұрын
I see advice on the second fridge & hope I’m not repeating- it takes a full 24 hours for a fridge to cool down inside once it’s room temperature so remember to turn it on a couple days before your party. - if it were me- I’d turn the setting to its highest temp & leave it on & turn thermostat back down when you stock it. If you choose to turn it off, place an opened bag of plain charcoal inside it to absorb moisture and help prevent odors from permeating the plastic & evaporator coil. When the charcoal has absorbed moisture it can be “ reactivated “ by baking in your oven. I’m sure you can find a tutorial for that. Cheers!!

I am surprised you are not donating the cupboards and all that. I'm in the United States, but we have places that will take old cupboards, trim, appliances, etc. They sell them and use the profit to build homes for people in need. I don't know if there is much need for that in your area, though.

Now it looks like my house! Except, I never finish anything....... Advice for people about to embark on this sort of thing themselves.....if you are getting rid of old units such as these kitchen ones, there are often lots of useful components that can be harvested. Screws, angle brackets, shelving, hinges etc, all tend to last a lot better than the units themselves. If you have storage space, lengths of old worktop are unbelievably useful for making shelving in sheds and garages and workrooms. Very little ends up at the tip here, it just gets repurposed if it is not mouldy, soggy, smelly or brittle.

Good luck with your kitchen! It will be so nice when done. Looking forward to seeing your studio/filming space. So exciting! Yeah, agree with others that a fridge in storage needs to be left turned on, or doors opened, or doors removed (anyone else grow up in the 80s and see the Punky Brewster episode where Cherie suffocates in an old fridge and was traumatized by it?? :) :) )

Tiny little tip for storing that freezer: put something in between the doors to keep them open. I did not. Apparently, when there is still a tiny bit of moisture inside, fungi thrive there. Got quite the stinky suprise when I opened it after a year...
@Woeschhuesli2 жыл бұрын
It‘s actually pretty funny that your old kitchen is probably also an Ikea kitchen… 🤣 That style was very modern around 1995, as my friend‘s new place looked just like that and a lot of places renovated then also got that sort of kitchen. And my MIL’s „new“ kitchen from the late 90s has a load of mirrors, too 😳 Ah yes, been around a while longer than you 😉 My own kitchen is over 30 yrs old but good quality wood, I‘d really like to paint it green (yes, rather like your dresser!) and get pale marble-style countertops as I hate the dark granite we have, also we need new appliances… sigh, dream on! Good luck with your new kitchen…

I'm glad it's all going so well! Kitchen grime is the worst 😶 I think it's worth checking the old fridge for lead content, you can buy lead check strips online. I recently read a lot about lead levels in old stuff, it can be in the surface material of the fridge too. Scary stuff. Changing the subject, I absolutely adore your look in this video! This dress, lip color, hair, glasses... Everything goes so well together and is so harmonious with you! I think it's my favorite look of yours 😍 now I want to make myself such a dress, haha

For your booknook. Do they still do the tiny open shelves in Ikea to add on to those? It's maybe hard to explain, but they're like 1/3 to half shelves, little ones and you can add them on. Not sure. In my day, when I created my booknook (6 times the size, no joke Lucy), they still had them. I have the oak look and glass doors.

Nice vlog! Was it possible (and probably less expensive) to just cover up the asbestos with the flooring of your choice instead of having to get them removed? I know that asbestos removal here in the US is very expensive and is this whole lengthy process.
@P0nyl0ve2 жыл бұрын
In the Netherlands, it is normal to remove it as soon as it's found and I believe it is free too
@Loepsie2 жыл бұрын
In hindsight, maybe. At the time I was worried the new floor would come out uneven as the vinyl didn't cover the entire floor, and I also honestly just wanted it gone, haha! I do believe the guy we called to check if it's asbestos or not said he was required to call it in now that it was discovered, and we were more or less obligated to have it removed (not 100% sure on this though). It's common to have asbestos removed over here indeed, we have very strict regulations surrounding it. It's definitely not free though, it was rather costly unfortunately.
@sweetstufff2 жыл бұрын
That is great that it is required to be removed. Yes, I would also want it gone if I had them, lol. I'm sorry it cost so much, though! Thanks for the reply!
