Yes, I too wish that Google and Amazon could come to an agreement that would allow Amazon to put back the native app they once had for KZbin back onto their devices. But Google won't allow it. So Amazon has come up with the best solution they can, using a browser to access the site. You can use your voice to call up the site. You do not have to type. Once you have chosen which browser you want to make your default either Silk or FireFox. All you have to say is Alexa open KZbin. It will open right to KZbin. Also on the keyboard there is a very large microphone that you overlooked. instead of typing you could have used the microphone and spoken your request.

I use a piece of electric tape. The adhesive on the back isn’t overly sticky and it’s black, so it blends in.

RE: The camera - if it really bothers you, you can cover it with a small piece of electrical tape. However, if you want to use it, for, say, video calls, it becomes a hassle. I really believe these types of devices with front facing cameras (including laptops & tablets) should always come with a small shutter you can close when you don't want the camera to be able to see you.

I got the 2nd gen Echo Show for Christmas yesterday, and the sound quality is absolutely amazing! It replaces the gen 1 Echo Show in my kitchen (the gen 1 is now on my desk in my office), and I'm now thinking about moving he Sonos Play 5 that is also in the kitchen to another room. The gen 2 echo show sounds that good. The screen is also huge and beautiful. I was impressed with the audio and video quality of the original Echo Show, but the 2nd generation is noticeably better.

@@ThisIsTechToday I was gobsmacked. I have 2x27" 4k HDR monitors (Neither of which put out that sound quality) a 65" higher end LG 1080p TV, sound quality PALES in comparison. It's almost as if they took a soundbar and bent it around the entire device to create an excellent stereo surround system! (Currently, rocking my kitchen island) It, of course, does much more than music and movies but at the "Prime Day" or "Black Friday" Price points, bundled in with other devices at $170? Or even at its base $230? It's worth it for the speaker system and portability, alone.

Hi there I am an Apple user but as far as smart speakers go we have a couple of Google home speakers and my question is I have a Sonos system throughout the house but they won't work with Google Home speakers, if I buy, say an Echo Dot or Echo Show which I believe will work with Sonos soon will I be able to voice command music from my Apple Music account to play through my Sonos system? and out of curiosity would the Amazon Show gen 2 be more beneficial than just an Amazon Echo Dot for controlling Sonos? It is a prime product and yes you can have Amazon prime video on it if you are a prime member, and Netflix, Vudu, and if you are having a hard time putting Google play on it! There is an awesome way to get around that😀 just sign into your KZbin account and all your Google play purchases movies and TV shows will be available in your purchases on KZbin. I have the Show 2nd Gen and am quite happy with it. However I'd really like to get rid of the: ' Try "Alexa, play a podcast" ' suggestions it insists on continuously showing along the bottom of the screen! I didn't mind them for the first week or so but now they're simply annoying. Surely there's a way to turn these Alexa suggestions off, I just haven't found how to do so yet. Anyone know how?

My mother has poor vision. I was thinking about getting this for her. Would you say that most of the features can be accessed through voice commands? She will only use it for outgoing calls (will get an app for that), and possibly text messages, photos, maybe email. She needs to have something that shows the calendar and that verbally reminds her of dates and appointments. I like the home screen for that purpose. Would appreciate any feedback. Yes most features are accessed through Voice Command. As long as your Mom has a cell phone you can register the device using her Amazon account and cellphone number. Then she will be able to make outgoing calls. If you want her to receive calls she would also need the ECHO CONNECT device which uses Landline 📞/VoIP. With that device connected to the Echo she can make and receive phone through her Echo. This device will allow her to set Timers, Alarms and Reminders. You can sync your Google, Apple, & Microsoft’s Calendars to the device so it can visually show upcoming appointments on the screen you can add them verbally too. However it will not display an actual Calendar 🗓, but when you ask it to show you the Calendar it will show calendar entries starting from the date you asked and then you can scroll through the other dates.

I know you posted this a week or so ago. Which one did you end up going with. If you still haven't decided. I would go with the Echo Show or Echo Spot either would be better. As I mentioned to someone else. The Fire Tablet does have Show Mode, but with limitations. There are features you will have with the Echo Show or Echo Spot that you will not have with the Fire Tablet with Show Mode. But if you want a Tablet by all means get the Fire HD Tablet. What I am saying is don't buy the Tablet just for Show Mode.

Nicola Davies a Fire Tablet 10 has a Show Mode that is very similar to the Show, but is also a full blown tablet, for about half the price. Same for the Fire 8 for 1/3 the cost. Sound isn’t as good, nor as loud, so a blue tooth speaker would be a must. I have both. I like the Show for the kitchen, and the tablet for everywhere else. But I got my gen1 Show for $90. I wouldn’t pay $200, or even its $179 sale price,

I wish for once one of these videos (not just yours) by self proclaimed Tech people would talk about Drop In as if they actually know how it works. Random people cannot just Drop In on your home. You have to enable the feature and you have grant people permission and those people also have to grant you permission. Without both parties granting each other permission you CANNOT DROP IN.

This is a home device. Why would you need directions to a location? I think it’s good enough that it gives traffic times. But I don’t understand why you would want directions? Are you gonna memorize the directions or are you gonna write them down? Just use your cell phone, don’t ya think? 🤔

This Is Tech Today I could see why it would work with google devices cause they are all connected. But amazon is not connected like that with either android or apple. So that feature wouldn’t make sense on this device. Maybe future update can integrate it with amazon Alexa phone app.

TravelLove Add your Google calendar in settings? As for lists, there are IFTTT triggers to add items to your iOS reminders if you aren’t a fan of the Alexa apps version. There are also a few other third party integrations as well available that you can enable from Alexa.

There's no HDMI port, but you can communicate through it to control your TV that has the fire TV stick hooked up to it!

So this does Video calling including now Skype, but not KZbin (very well). The Google Home device does KZbin but not video calling. The Facebook one does great video calling, but it's Facebook. MEH.

@@thinerj1 Cool, glad you got the thing that works best for your needs.....just as I got the thing that works best for mine. I nearly got the JBL, because I'm a huge Samsung fan and JBL is owned by Samsung. Ultimately though, I'm too invested inthe Amazon ecosystem. For instance, one of my uses for the Echo devices is to read to me Audible books. While I could always use Audible on my phone and pair it (and then unpair it) with the JBL, it's just easier and smoother doing Audible on an Echo device.

Great video! This product unfortunately seems like garbage compared to any of the devices that are Google-powered. The software seems clunky and unintuitive. It also looks like the put absolutely zero effort into making it aesthetic to be places around the house. I'll stick to the best of the best, the 10" Lenovo Smart Display. 🙂
