Just an interesting fact salicylic acid was originally found as an active constituent within the Willow bark and Poplar trees. It was then isolated and standardised into what we know as salicylic acid and Aspirin. Just because willow bark is used in a cosmetic formulation doesn’t mean you would get the same effects from willow bark as you would in salicylic acid. With any plant extract just because it’s a part within the plant doesn’t mean it is as bioavailable as a standardised ingredient.
@KellyDriscoll

Yes, of course, extracts vary wildly in quality, it's really dependent on the extraction and an ingredient list will never tell us that. But in my experience using the essence for about 4 years, it has made a difference for my skin and breakouts.

Wow this came at the right time. I'm also currently having hormonal acne on my chin. My scalp was extra oily too. To be honest, at 41yo and still have to deal with acne is just making me tired. I thought of buying the minimalist tranexamic acid but maybe will try the haru haru serum.

The saccharomyces And fungus extracts are the worst thing for acne prone skin .i've been fighting with acné for 5 years and dont use anymore products with that because i find out my skin turns with More acné oilness and irritation (even using adapaleno or tretinoin that keep my skin calm ) i think you can avoid the saccharomyces and see how your skin react .. send you love❤ love the rest of the routine

Hi Kelly any skin type can break out and being female means hormones can cause havoc 😂. I think your skin looks good and having a few breakouts doesn’t mean that it suddenly looks terrible. No matter our age or skin type we can have occasional issues with breakouts. My mature super dry skin was recently clogged up and I had some pimples 😱. This is highly unusual for me but I am having some health issues and perhaps had become a bit lazy with cleansing at night😢. I was using an oil cleanser (BofJ ginseng oil cleanser), but wasn’t double cleansing due to fatigue. I often can just use an oil or balm due to being so dry, but this one needs a separate cleanser used afterwards it seems. I just got clogged up causing texture, pimples and some inflammation. I’m on prescription azelaic acid 15% for my rosacea and I added in some BHA for about a week and a half until I got it cleared up. I’m ultra pale so I get red marks rather than dark marks and they will take longer to fade, but the azelaic acid and other ingredients I use for my rosacea will help. Best wishes x

It's definitely hard! For me, it's usually something inward (stress, diet, sleep, hormones) or outward (weather, allergies) and sometimes it's factors I can't control! That may or may not resonate with your situation, but I know sometimes it feels like we have all the skincare parts right but maybe something internal is going on.

hi kelly,, thank you for being real with your skin. how about your diet & exercise routine? is there something you add or reduce during hormonal acne?
@KellyDriscoll
@KellyDriscoll 2 ай бұрын
Diet and exercise are fairly consistent, I eat mostly low inflammation and I make everything, I rarely eat out or processed foods since they have caused me a lot of problems in the past. Elimination diet helped me a lot and now I have an easy rhythm with what works. I'm active about 4-5x a week and the only change for skin there is making sure to get the sweat off as soon as possible! I'd suggest making changes like these permanent rather than only when issues crop up because consistency is key! But this one was easy because hormonal BC was switched up so definitely some swings as my body adjusted.

i started using Numbuzin No 5+ concentrated serum because of your videos for brightening, i always get red/purple marks some go brown after my hormonal breakouts. I also have sensitive oily skin, im 4 days into using it (only at night) and thankfully no problems from it. I hope i start seeing results soon! I want to get the propolis ampoule by wishtrend as well soon! What do you think about the Numbuzin No 3 super glowing essence toner in terms of ingredients for sensitive skin and adding it into routine for further brightening? Do you think it is worth it, or we can do something better than a toner?

I've never used the product but a quick scan shows quite a few essential oils so be careful if you're sensitive. I think snail is amazing for soothing inflammation, they have willow bark in there too, and I do see niacinamide I assume for brightening. It could help but you might need something with more brightening power for stubborn dark marks.

i often get cystic pimples on my chin and the worst thing are always the red marks bc even if i technically only have 2 active pimples, my whole chin is still covered in red marks from pimples i had weeks-months ago so it looks way worse than it actually is.. 😓 i was talking to someone about my skin and how i luckily do not have that many pimples rn and they were like "huh? isnt your whole chin covered in them?"... no. these are red marks and not pimples anymore. 😭

Hi Kelly, Michelle from lab muffin recently discussed about Tranexamic acid in skincare that actually can’t do anything for hyperpigmentation, what’s your thoughts? TY for the video Kelly 🩵
@KellyDriscoll
@KellyDriscoll 2 ай бұрын
I haven't gotten around to watching it yet but my personal experience has supported tranexamic acid's benefits for sun damage and hyperpigmentation. Not sure I can speak to anything else not having seen Michelle's video yet or understanding the nuance of her argument, but I've used it with success for a few years in a few different products and whether it's due to TXA being the star or supported by other brighteners, it's worked better for me than many other ingredients.

l love that haru Haru TXA Serum, I went through like 4 bottles of it, and also the Numbuzin no 5 serum for hyperpigmentation. They are indeed powerhouse products with great ingredients. Propolis serums and toners and also cica are my faves for soothing irritated skin, the Skinfood propolis serum is my favourite but the wishtrend was really nice. I've tried your recommended product the skin1004 soothing cream. It's good, especially when the weather is hotter but I don't feel it's long lasting enough for hydration and moisture. Not really, I have been doing this for over 6 years and have figured out how to add something to a core routine without switching up everything completely.
