Hi, I have a pair of blue bars. They've had some babies in the past, all blue bars. This time one of the babies looks like a check bird. I know it's not possible so I'm wondering what it could be genetically.

If they're not bred in a closed pen the most likely explanation is that a check male mated with your hen, it is quite common.

Yes, sooty can mimic check, however I believe it to be dominant so it shouldn't appear in a pair of BBs. There may be a recessive form though, some people have reported it

I have 2 hybrid male Pigeons from 1 Jacobin Father and 2 different female fantail moms Both of the hybrids are big as their dad with a double creast even though their moms aren't so ai mate these half brothers hybrid males with fantails hens I have got a big fantail chick and 2 undeveloped squabs I'm gonna keep breeding from each grandchildren so I can get fantils with a Jacobin neck coat

There is only one family of birds that i know of to carry crests or caps as we call them are the old line trenton family. Does that little capped baby have any trenton in its background?? I don't think its a desirable trait when it comes to racing. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder right, curious to see what your plans for that baby will be.

No, no "Trenton" in these birds, or even in Australia at all as far as I know. Crest is simply a recessive gene that has been in the breed since it was developed - some of the breeds that went into the creation of the modern homer were created.

Nope, but its from an accidental bro/sis mating, both parents all Goodger on one side and long distance Perth blood on the other. No idea where the crest came from, but I'd say just one of the grandparents carried it and its come out in the bro/sis mating.

Yes it is, grizzle is a dominant gene. You only need one and will easily be able to breed more 👍
