I had a friend with a civil engineering degree who decided to bartend at a popular nightclub in Chicago and she was making more money as a bottle girl than many of her friends with the same degree. Women actually do make a ton of money in the liquor industry/nightclub scene because people will always want to party and drink and be around pretty girls. However, it's a young girls game and they do age out like strippers.

@@robertgardner2782 I agree. They studied "trash" because it's easy. The majority of students study the worthless courses, that has no demand in the employment market, due to the ease of passing those rubbish courses. They are also able to reach advanced levels such as master's degrees because their courses consist of low-level easy-peasy subjects, unlike those who study very difficult fields such as AI engineering and development (for which there's a huge demand) where it's intensely difficult to just get through one's undergrad. I have a bachelor's degree in finance and I shat bricks to obtain it. It is a far more valuable degree than any Phd in rubbish and I've never struggled with decent paying employment in mostly corporate settings whilst my peers, who opted to study the easy crap, are still struggling with low-paying employment in our middle-aged years. Go figure. It's always been about supply and demand. Not about GenZ or any other generation's particular time through which they came up.

@@shaheemtaylor960 I can tell by your comment that you don't pay attention, read, or comprehend. You just watched a video where a woman in Florida told said she earned her masters degree and it didn't increase her salary "a lot". Yet you still insist that it "actually increases your salary a lot." Clearly that it not universally true, and I simply and briefly pointed that out. You talking about working in education for an extended periods (which is not the situation being discussed by the woman nor being commented on) doesn't actually speak to her reality. Not only that, introducing that simply muddies the factors that can contribute to differences in salary, like year of experience vs a piece of paper degree but little or no experience. Most jobs prefer a person who has lengthy experience to a person with a high level degree and little or no experience. That holds true in most fields, not just in education.

Let’s keep in mind that she says she uses savings to pay rent. That means mommy and daddy are still taking care of her cause there’s no way a poor ex student would even look at an apartment for 2900.00 at all makes no sense. She’s getting help or was handed down some cash from family for graduation gift etc.

A lot of these kids go to college and take out loans not just to pay for college but to pay for parties and stupid stuff. I went to college and graduated without any debt because I was smart enough to get grants and I worked. After I graduated it took me 6 years of working in my profession to get to 6 figures. I was really broke for the first few years and then I started to climb the ladder. Everyone wants to start at the top when they graduate.

My wife is a teacher and makes 70k a year. We live in Utah. Cost of living is cheaper than Florida to. She gets an automatic $4k raise each year from the state (state incentive to keep teachers). Plus she negotiates another 4k from her school each year. So she gets a $8,000 raise each year. You have to go where the money is.

To be fair, I am a math education major and I am a teacher. You just gatta go to a city that pays well. Teaching in DC you can easily make 6 figures if you qualify as a highly effective teacher. Not to mention, I don’t live above my means. My rent is only $1,400 for a one bedroom apartment. It may not be a luxury apartment but it fits my needs and I’m not trying to force a lifestyle I can’t afford. Paying $2,900 for rent is INSANEEEEE. She clearly has a budgeting problem.

$2900 a month is ridiculous for an apartment. Hell, where I’m at that’s the cost to rent a 3 bedroom house in a nice neighborhood. Maybe that would get you a 2 bedroom apartment in a high rise in downtown Seattle, overlooking the water. My guess is that she’s renting a condo in downtown wherever she’s at that $2900 is mostly an HOA fee, which those HOA fees are crazy down in Florida.

Unfortunately it has become increasingly necessary to obtain advanced degrees to get certain jobs because of number of people competing for them. Let’s say everyone applying for said job has a masters or doctorate and you do not. Who do you think gets called for an interview and who gets the email thanking them for their interest while informing them that they are not the most qualified.

If she had a "passion" for Education, she should've looked into being a Speech Pathologist. This way, she could've decided whether she wanted to work in a school setting or clinical setting... As for Social Work, that's tricky. I have two friends who majored in social work and both make well over six fugures. One is a Regional Manager for Child Welfare while the other is a Clinical Social Worker who works for John's Hopkins. Maybe they got lucky, because that's not the story of most social workers.

She cute too. sound like she got a little hood in her. But I don't understand how people think a masters degree is going to get them CEO money. especially in that field. Everyone has to start at the bottom and work their way up the ladder. Maybe she should get her Phd and try being a college professor. I knew of some officers in the Navy even had their student loans paid for when they joined. Thats also an option. There are so many options but it seems like people would rather play victim. So weird.

Imagine thinking education is a wasted degree. People will say anything. It's the fact that this country doesn't invest in children's education is the problem. Put more and more burden on teachers without inceeased pay. I knew about 20 people in college who went into US education. Only one still teaches in the US (one friend teaches in Japan.) 2 went into real estate. The others are corporate trainers. All that's to say it's not a wasted degree, it that people don't give af about educating kids. And then complain about how today's kids can do things we learned in elementary school.
