I’ve noticed that it appears as though you wear it most of the time-or that just could be for videos.;) I adore you & your channel. Two garden things: DO NOT put that mint in the ground unless you want your whole garden to be mint!!!! And carrots are a cool weather crop 😊 there’s plenty more to say but half the fun is figuring it out yourself. You’re doing a good job!!

regarding the carrots, they actually can handle insanely hot weather. I live in the mountains of CA where it is VERY hot and dry in the summer (today was 109) and that is when we all grow our carrots and they do great. Mine have zero shade and like 14 hours of sun and they're perfect. However, because of the climate, everything is on auto twice daily watering, so maybe thats why they do so well

Heads up on the mint; you might want to keep it in a place that you don’t mind it spreading. If in the garden, it will take over everything and choke out the rest of what you plant. Mint is extremely invasive!! I learned this the hard way. It even spread into the lawn, which was ok with me because when we mowed, it smelled amazing. lol Keep doing what you do, girl! You’re amazing!😉🤗🥰

Don't cut back asparagus until the foliage turns at least yellow if not dies back completely. When it's huge and unruly, it's feeding the nutrients back to the crowns (to grow and spread) and to make seed (which are produced in what will look like teeny red berries).

You did it Hannah: 100 million views! And coming soon, 1 million subscribers. You should be so proud of yourself. These are symbolic milestones, but they are a true reflection of your success, of what you have been able to achieve in barely 5 years on KZbin. You deserve it so much. We all know that the road to get where you are now was full of obstacles. Beyond the numbers, your most impressive achievement IMO is that you are so much more than a “content creator”. You create beauty, you create happiness, you create a better world for so many people who are waiting impatiently every Sunday for your new video. And it is amazing that you achieved that just by being yourself, happy, funny, beautiful, free spirited, creative, charismatic, talented… Congratulations Hannah! It is worth a celebration with wine, Champagne, or what you are in the mood for. Thank you for sharing with us these instants of your life. Everybody here is so happy for you.

Enclosing part of the porch for a pantry was a brilliant idea! You could actually turn the top of those shelves below the window into a baking counter. Great job on your garden. One tip with the basil - if you want it to keep producing, be sure to pinch off any/all blooms. Once basil blooms it tends to stop producing. Also, you'll want to harvest your herbs even if you don't want to use them right away. Don't harvest all of it, just take maybe 1/3 of the plant, and that will keep them producing. Same with the other veggies....the more you pick the more they seem to produce. You could line the inside or outside of your fence with a smaller type of hardware cloth and it will keep most of the snakes and smaller animals out - just a thought. You can also add weeds to your compost pile. Sorry for all the unsolicited advice - I just love gardening. It's so calming and therapeutic. Your wall looks AMAZING!!! Great job!

2 bits of gardening info. Sunflowers are heavy feeders, especially big ones so they will deplete the nutrients in your soil. They need a slow release granular fertilizer with trace minerals. You work it into their soil about 8 inches down once a year. That puts the nutrients back into the soil. When you plant root vegtables like carrots and beets , if your soil is compact ,which yours looks like it is, you need to mix in plenty of chopped up straw or other material into your soil. I know you mixed in some stuff but maybe not enough for the root veggies . Oh, one other thing, if it is animals rather than insects getting you strawberries you might consider building a wire enclosure around them. For your first garden you are doing fabulous. I'm proud of you. Thanks for the garden tour. .

Plant some lavender around the outside sitting/eating areas at both the cabin and the cottages because they not only smell great they help keep mosquitoes away. Definitely add insulation to the wall you built to prevent anything being stored in the pantry from freezing during the winter. If you add a countertop to the area near the outlets in the pantry you can keep the toaster plugged in on the counter as well as other appliances you use but don't want taking up the little counter space in the kitchen. I would store dry goods in glass jars/containers to prevent the nice from having a feast.

I do not have the amount of land you do but always keep a small garden of my favorite vegetables /container herbs and strawberries. Also if this is your first year with strawberries and they aren’t producing well for you do not fret! It took mine two seasons to establish themselves. I’ve since learned to cut back the runners too-this will help produce more fruit❤ ❤❤ Also, I’m still *impatiently* waiting for the conclusion on the cabin bathroom Reno 😆

Hi Hannah! I’m a kind of beginner at gardening too but from my understanding carrots need really aerated less clay-y soil so that their roots (the carrot part) can grow deeply without a struggle. Sometimes people mound the soil so that it doesn’t get too dense. Maybe that will help for next year. But you’re doing such a great job in your garden!!😊

One thing I never knew about gardening. Do you want to garden organic or non organic? We (my mom and I) always grew organic with organic fertilizer, coffee, chicken and goat doodee. This year I wanted to try Fox Farm fertilizer and organic fertilizer on all my plants (indoor and outdoor) the difference is day and night lol. I finally have a cantaloupe growing on a trellis that I made lol. Only draw back you need to cut the non organic fertilizer back a month before harvest. My passionfruit has hundreds this year, our lemon tree is back to being her beautiful self. Next year I plan on going back to organic growing though. It was a fun journey this year seeing our garden flourish and to learn some of the people we look up to for gardening inspo might not even be organic gardening lol. There is no right or wrong way to garden, have fun with your beautiful garden.

I'm not one to comment usually, but in the beginning of your video, at around 4 seconds in as you are walking through ferns under a tree, you are getting a rattlesnake warning. 😨😱 If you listen, you'll hear it. You may want to take a few minutes to listen to rattlesnake sound online to familiarize yourself with the sound. ❤Depending on the size, they can be very high pitched, or very low pitched; fast or slow. If you aren't taught what the sound is, you tend to write it off as 'bugs.' Just a head's up. No need to freak out or anything, 🤣 just keep some open ears, and watch where your feet are going. But this year I have lantern bugs. Many, many, many lantern bugs. They are everywhere and there is not too much to do, to stop them. The adult will come early fall but right now they are in the early stages. I probably would not of planted this year, had I of known they were here. To put a seed in the ground, and to make it grow and see the benefit it provides is indeed, a miracle. Nurturing is a lot of hard work, but so worth it at harvest time. You are doing great!

Hi sweetie, dint plant your mint into the grown as its roots will go mad and you'll be pulling it up for yrs to come, it's best to be kept in containers or large plant pots, then every couple of yrs thin out the roots so it thrives better. Good luck ❤

Full-time veg grower here, the garden's looking great :) I would stagger your plants whenever you can, so instead of planting them in a grid shape, plant them in a zigzag shape, if that makes sense. You get the same number of plants but there's more space between the rows. I'd also mulch if you can, especially for things like the courgettes and tomatoes where there is lots of bare soil in between them - you could just use grass clippings and it'll help them retain moisture and feed the soil eventually too. It doesn't look as neat but it does a lot of good. Thanks as always for the videos :)

Im SO proud of you and your garden. Once you start gardening, it has a way of creeping into your soul and becoming part of you ❤ Please, for the love of all things good in this world, do NOT PLANT THE MINT IN THE GROUND LOL! It also has a way of taking over your entire life (and garden) forever like a rascally little asshole you’ll never get rid of. Imagine the worst weed you’ve ever had to deal with, multiply it by 100 and sprinkle on a little cocaine and that is what mint is when it’s grown in the ground ☠️ It will literally eat you alive 🤣

I grow carrots every year and it’s a hit or miss, I found planting each tiny little seed one by one makes a huge difference even tho my patience hates it. The ground has to be very soft! Turn over the soil every year and remove as many rocks as you can, if they’re still struggling my mum likes to mix in some sand to make it extra soft. Don’t forget ur manure!! They’ll grow like crazy :) to store them so they last through the cold winters you have to wrap them each in newspaper and put in a box that has holes so they can breath, in a dark warm space. This technique was used by my great grandma in Russia to keep her veggies over the winter! Your garden look great!

Hannah!!! You can make wine from anything including table grapes! I don't know what kind of grapes they are but if they are purple you can make a nice sweet sparkling wine from them that is super quick to get to drinkability. (It's fondly known as backyard bubble in a bunch of wine groups). Wine making is super fun and I think it would be right up your alley. Plus now you have a pantry for all your brewing gear!

You can garden any way you want. In my opinion if veggies grow you're winning. If you keep up with the weeds youre really really winning. Have fun with it and enjoy it. You will learn what works best and increases your harvest if that's what you're after.

Depending on the variety of strawberry (June bearing vs ever bearing) you may not get strawberries until next year. If they’re June bearing they’ll all come on next June and you’ll have to make jam or something to keep up 😆 Ever bearing are better for snacking. Also if that was a garder snake, that’s a good sign for your garden. Though they still startle me too lol. You’re doing great and am so happy to see your progress on both the house and the garden!

GO OFF GARDENING QUEEN! so many of your plants are doing amazing! those beans & sunflowers especially! to add to what you already said you were gonna do: when you do trim back the tomatoes, i like to clear the bottom 4 inches or so of the stalk so that they will grow tall & not as wide. that helps them not topple over or bend their cages as much. tomatoes are very resilient! also, when you showed your zucchini it made me realize you may have the same problem as me which is either powdery mildew on the leaves or squash bugs (those little bastards)... so just something to watch out for! i am currently trying to remedy the same thing lol

Hannah's construction going strong. Mollasus, egg shell and bone meal makes good fertilizer. They make a pantry door that's shaded opaque glass with a lil graphic that says pantry. Let's light they but hides the storage. If u can tangle with a bat you can handle a garter snake. He's eating the bugs 🌙✨✨✨🌀 💜

If you start seeing squash bugs... which kinda look like stink bugs, sprinkle the plants with a bit of flour. Yes, the regular kind of flour as in baking flour. It will wash off and be non toxic to the environment. The flour irritates the squash bugs little moving parts and gets under their wings... and kills them by this method. If that doesn't work... then you can get food grade diatomaceous earth which is a bit more irritating to them and still ok for the environment. You'll have to reapply after the rain. Google it so you know how it's supposed to look so you don't cover all the leaf and knock out the sun for the plant's growth process. I think it all looks really good. And you can use this method on all plants. Love the pantry too.

For your first time gardening, you did an amazing job!! One tip that will save you a lot of time weeding and watering is to MULCH between your plants! Especially the plants that will be sitting a while like garlic, squash and peppers :) It adds nutrients, helps soil retain moisture and prevents weeds. I love using lawn clippings because it is convenient, but hay and other material work or even compost! Happy gardening!

Our house had this huge, open area as you walked into the house, totally wasted space. I did essentially what you did and created a room. I toenailed the studs into the plate and cap, sheet-rocked and taped, and hung a door. Now the entry area isn't stupid big and we have a meditation room (that my wife also uses as a sewing room).
