I relate to this video so hard. I'm turning 29 this year and have worked in HR for 3-4 years now. I was never really passionate when I got into the field in the first place tbh, and the more I worked in HR the more I became unsure about staying and growing in the industry. I had my suspicions deep down that I didn't like HR but my turning point was today, when I had my three month / 90 day check in with my manager to talk about goals and how I've been feeling about the work I do and the company overall. As I was speaking to her about the things I enjoyed...I realized I didn't actually enjoy it at all. It was like a lie I was telling myself to try and convince myself to stay since I spent so much time and effort and MONEY!! Just to get my HR certificate and CHRP and to renew my membership every year. I had first thought if I should specialize in a specific area (rn I'm a Generalist) but I couldn't find a single area I wanted to focus on. And that's when I fully realized HR isn't for me. Sorry I know this video is old but I just had one of those 'couldn't sleep, it's 2am, mind thinking about things, and it hit me' and felt very overwhelmed by it all.

Thank you for sharing this! I'm glad you realized sooner rather than later - something I wish I came to terms with earlier. I'm wishing you the best - good luck!
