Depression is debilitating and you cannot just logic your way out of it. He sort of framed it as a character defect when it is more likely a combination of trauma and epigenetic factors.

Yeah it’s hard to say. I have worked with many young people with major depressive disorders and I often challenge them to take responsibility despite how they feel or their circumstances. Honestly I don’t even like to dwell on feelings all too often, life demands our action regardless of our emotional state. Working through your problem requires action and facing the things you don’t want to look at.

As someone who seen some dark days and have plenty of 'mental issues' there is only 1 golden thing I learned from 30 months of therapy and that is this: Work on a better tomorrow, doesnt matter how small the thing is you decide to improve, tiny steps forward day by day and keep thinking this every day to work on a better tomorrow. 180 days of small steps forward will still result in crossing a bridge. In 10 years from now we are all older and wish we were the person we are today, so why not start improving right now.
