I've got a vittoria martello 2.8 on a 4cm inner width rim that seems closer to about a 2.6" wide. If it was on the front it might bother me that it seems narrow but it just fits the frame so I'm happy. As far as performance, it works well, if I want grip I bring the pressure way down or if I want speed I pump it up.

Comparatively the 2.6 Mazza looks narrower on the same rim as my 2.5 Maxxis Assagai. That’s the only reason I measured it because it looked off.

Thanks for all the info. My guess is that the rim width will dictate how wide the tire will really be. Wider rim will change the size of the contact patch size. Thinner rims will make a 2.6 measure smaller. How many mm. I don't know; but smaller for sure.

Thanks for the tip about running them for a couple of rides w/o inserts before putting the inserts in. I recently had a BEAR of a time getting my brand new rear tire on with an insert. Thinking loosening it up first would have helped. Next time! :) After swearing by Schwalbe (Magic Mary and Hans Dampf) for the past couple of years, I decided to go with Specialized for my most recent build - Butcher up front and Eliminator out back. So far so great, TBH - and way cheaper ... around $70/tire compared to ~$100 for Schwalbe - and much easier to find. Anyway, great video - thanks for sharing!

Awesome! Its an actual tip from Tannus, they recommend it before putting their inserts in a new tire. So I've been doing it ever since and it has helped for sure. I'm in this phase of always trying new things and tires is one I haven't settled on yet.

Great vid friend. I’ll be installing the e-Martello tires on my specialized Turbo Levo Comp Mullet as soon as these original Butcher and Eliminators are done. Pay no attention to the critics and haters. Cheers.

Maxxis tires I’ve not had good experience with on my trek rail! Also had to return the last set because of defects in the side walls!

Tires width are measured at 60 psi by manufacturer, some modify tho for 35 psi to be max width now tho

There is no wrong way unless it doesn’t work, other than that do what works for you, and keep shredding, I run Vittoria tires on my e-bike and I’m running the non e bike Mezcals..

Give the IRC Tanken front and rear a try!!! My use case is totally different, 32 pound steel hardtail (220 pound rider) but the IRC has the best grip to durability ratio I have found and once the rear burns in it roll’s surprisingly well for an aggressive tire. I destroyed the side knobs of an aggressor like you no issue on the IRC.

I'm curious about the new Kryptotal tires. A buddy of mine just got a set so I'm anxious to hear more about them! But if they're giving you more confidence then that's a win/win!

I bought the reinforced rugged tires front and rear for my turbo levo. You mentioned that they were like an asagai. Would that be like me running an asagai front and back?

What Casing and compound were you running with Maxxis? I'm a 200lb rirder on a 52lb E-Bike and I run Assegai and DHR double downs and have never needed to run an insert.

Both are EXO+, I don't know if I "need" to run inserts but since I've been using them on all my bikes I have yet to ding a rim so there's that!
@BudoDave76

@@midlifeshredder id definitely run an insert on an EXO or EXO + to prevent burping the tire. Those new tires seem to be double ply so maybe you don’t need in insert. Just a thought.

How satisfied are you with e-mazzas after a while? Is it worth?

I’ve been really happy with the life I get out of the e-Mazza’s. I prefer the grip and feel out the Maxxis Assagai/DHR2 combo but on e-bikes, they just don’t last as long. I’m about to put another set on my Timp Peak to replace the stock Maxxis.
