@@NinthSettlerDepends on which one Dark Souls 2? Pretty comparatively easy, the only real diffucult thing is mapping everything out Dark Souls 1? Camera causes most of your deaths, pretty linear and not too difficult to grasp Dark Souls 3? Def the hardest of the bunch, especially with DLC. The thing that makes Dark Souls as a whole really hard though- are the challenges players give themselves. Limiting yourself and playing through as a challenge is where the game's difficulty really shines. But I will admit, it isn't nearly as cutthroat as everyone says it is.

Also the new support makes that mentioned above a one card combo and adds the negate to hand. Also u can main shifter. Please try out cards before making judgements 🙏🏾 **Watch Josh top with this deck then y'all gonna be like this decks broken lol **Also here's some sauce for the haters lol: bonfire can search red nemesis (pyro) to green to make thunder dragon Colossus and earthbound fusion can be used for guardian Chimera on opponent's turn as well which has synergy with your field spell on their side of the field for multiple pluses. Something to think about creativity wise

Do you have any idea how much Tistina would kill for a card like Priestess? That deck is truly ass. Not saying ashened is meta or anything but it for sure is no where near Tistina levels of bad. I could win with ashened (at least in play testing today) off of the merits of the archetype’s cards. You can’t do that with Tistina (with the exception of EXACTLY Demigod). TL;DR Ashened is an ok/decent deck that can be fun in casual and get you a set win in local settings (maybe even a regional if you’re lucky) and Tistina is a travesty of game design that genuinely looks like it’s AI generated.

I dunno if Josh has actually tested Ashened before, but take it from someone that has played around with the archetype for a little bit, these cards are in fact better than he thinks. This deck needed some way to recycle it's cards because it runs out of steam otherwise way too quickly, and Shaman accomplishes that quite well, and it pluses you in addition to that. Spearhead by itself isn't very good, but having another level 4 that you can special for free is essential to go into important combo pieces like Banshee. Also it and Rekindling happen to complement each other quite well. You can special Spearhead, tribute to bounce, and if your opponent tries to disrupt it, you can immediately chain Rekindling to shuffle it back and negate another monster's effects, so it dodges things like Called By and disrupts attempts to stop Spearhead Extinguish is just a good card, period. Another way to search Veidos or any of the other high level monsters. The trap is a little tricky. Considering how Obsidim works and it's own nature as a trap, it basically means that unless you can summon Veidos and set the trap on your opponent's Turn 1 by popping one of their Field Spells, you aren't gonna be Superpolying the field away until Turn 3 at the earliest. So it is a little awkward to use in that sense. That said, while the synergy is there, I don't think pivoting to a Fusion strat is necessarily what the deck needed. The fusions are fine. I don't really have much to say on them, but how good they are is dependent on how you got them out to begin with. Using the fusion spell on Embers is probably okay, but obviously you would much rather use the trap to summon Veidos. These cards give you multiple means to access it's lines, gives you recycling, more power, flexibility. They aren't quite enough to shoot it up to Tiered status, but I would by no mean call these cards a total failure. Not quite there with the likes of Gold Pride, but around the level of pre-PHNI Ghoti, maybe slightly better. People comparing this with Tistina and War Rock are capping hard. This deck has a cohesive game plan and relatively easy access to that game plan, which those two barely had if at all Note: You may be able to play Shifter in this, since Rekindling and Shaman both recycle banished Ashened cards, and Obsidim triggers when banished. You may also consider playing Allure of Darkness, but without a surplus of Darks, maybe that's a little risky

In my head they had to give this archetype a monster in the hand that could, as a quick, discard itself to set the field spell to either field zone, this would have given this deck another way to disrupt field spells and another 3 copies of terraforming, putting a gy effect that protects your pyros from destruction to let you use veidos to blow your opponents field on your turn and that's a cool card right there

Also everyone seems to forgot that in infinite forbidden we basically will have a busted card for the deck, the new cosmo queen, literally a free lv8 that can destroy your field spell (obsidim most of the time to start the combo) to add another field spell, and that's really busted cause you have access to floodgate or a starter for other engines you want to play with the deck. Currently i'm trying it with invoked cause aleister is lv 4 and also you have another fusion based strategy, with cosmo queen the two archetype seems to play really well but i'm sure there are better things to fit in. (Also trying to see if there's a combo to summon consistently pharaonic advent to add DNA surgey along with the fusion trap so you can fusion all you want from your opponent but that's probably copium)

I will be honest - the trap should be a quick spell. Even then it would be worse then super poly but you would have "in-archetype" reason to run it. Now its just too slow. Also the extra deck vados isnt even good tower endboard. And what is they game plan/win con? Trying to go 2nd, hoping to open with super poly in hand and fuse with enemy board? Like pure despia did it better in 2021, 3 years ago and no one played it before branded. edit. Also this locks you in to Pyro fusion.... and there are almost no good pyro fusion. Like literally the only good generic one require a machine lol.

So far, since we need to get Obsidim on the field for the deck to start, that's the main problem to solve. The Priestess and Shaman aren't enough, Terraforming and Set Rotation aren't enough... there's more stuff needed for the deck to work. Let's see what us players can cook!

i don't think getting Obsidim on the field is the problem. Priestess (+ by extension Bonfire) and Awakening both get you to it I think what would be nice is having an extra way to pop or banish the field spell. So far I think Veidos is the only reliable way to do so.

Well, if you want to pop Obsidim, you can try a small level 3 synchro engine and use Ancient Fairy Dragon and Black Rose Dragon to pop the field spell or all cards on the field. We have good access to Veidos with Awakening, Extinguishment and Veidos itself, so there should be enough, but those synchro 7 would maximize the options, or some other choices!

Yes, these cards are *way* better than what people are giving them credit for. It's very consistent to build boards now and make them very threatening. Veidos fusion can pop the continuous trap, to make everything Pyro on the opponents turn, so you can do even more super poly plays. Also, with Yubel being a solid choice this meta, you can put in a copy of Yubel Loving Defender in the ED to Super Poly into.

Joshua YOU KNOW Konami TCG is legaly forbidden to make new good tcg ex archetypes. JP Konami has a document stating that!!! You know it. I think the Ashened cards are incomplete. Maybe in the future they can be pretty good. I noticed that with Konami, they lay groundwork for decks to be relevant. Ashened might never be relevant but with the right extra deck support and a way to manage it's own resources, this deck can be cool.

There definitely could have been some slight alterations to make a lot of these stronger, but I think a lot of people are underestimating the value a lot of these cards have. Shaman is a 2 of that is now a vital part of the mainline combo summoned off king to put back your asheneds and replace the obsidim you popped with veidos. The trap while a bit annoying to get set up sometimes is amazing to set turn 0 if your opponent plays into veidos and that's probably why it can't activate same turn, because that would basically make veidos an FTK vs snake eyes. But once it rolls around to your turn, and especially with the lack of Baronne and Savage in the format, if you can get obsidim to stick there's a lot of neat stuff you can do with these cards. Will it be strong enough to break into the meta? Probably not, even with snake-eyes on paper being a very good matchup. But these cards solved a lot of the problems and holes ashened had in its gameplay from the first wave. Some of the cards just don't quite have enough bite to sustain the deck on 14 cards, even if that's plenty to fill up your engine slots in the main.

Ashened Yubel , Give opponent 3k beater force them to attack your yubel monsters burn for damage , if opponent would answer yubel super up and removed board.

Yubel does this already with their Geiss monster that if it hits the Gy gives you another yubel card.

Giving them 3 k beaters seems bad but giving then an ashen seems better as if they link summon with it it would get the effect right to pop all monsters on field meaning yubel then becomes terror incarnate or ultimate. And its an additional super poly target unlike geiss, (geiss is okay but it should have the option to summon to either sidde of the field when a yubel monster is special summoned).

What shocks me is that people had expectation for this second wave. When was the las time a TCG archetype got a good second wave? and for the hopeful people that says "Now we have to wait for the OCG to make it good" When was the last time the OCG gave something that makes a tcg archetype GOOD/Competitive? sure, they print card that are JUST fine, but nothing that makes the deck at least rogue (which is what most people want). At least this is no War Rock nor Tistina.

yes, and you can also make the opponent monsters to superpoly targets. Problem is, it is a permanent trap that is not supposed to leave the field that fast, and it is also a waste to play foolish burial goods just for the type altering graveyard effect.

I feel like the biggest issue with this deck is still just the fact that S:P exists. S:P makes it so you need to remove Veidos from your opponents board on their very first summon, otherwise Veidos’s Gy effect gets you no value

Honestly, I think the main issue with Ashened is that it still heavily revolves around the Field Spell. Honestly if they changed Spearhead into a Commandment-style effect, this wave would be received significantly better. But outside of that, it's not a bad wave like you said. The Fusion mechanic makes a lot of sense in the context of the archetype (which is a rarity in the context of second waves for TCG Exclusives that try forcing in an Extra Deck mechanic) and I can genuinely see this paired with Volcanics for now to help bolster the Deck's pyro count for Shaman, the Fusions and Emperor

custom field spell idea for the deck: call it "ashened custom(AC)" and the card effect would be: This card is always treated as obsidim, the ashened city. If neither player has activated a field spell this turn (quick effect): you can activate this card from hand once per turn. when this card is destroyed you can add to your hand or set an "ashened" spell from deck except "Ashened AC. you cannot activate the effects of non-pyro monsters for the rest of turn". would make the deck way more consistent and aim it towards a going second deck. which proactively sets up you turn to blow up the opponents field. turn 1: during standby active AC, activate veidos to pop AC. set or add both the field spell and a trap. sets up a field spell early and gives advantage.

10:15 Konami has been doing this design in archetypes for several years now. We get very few monsters and not enough ways to get to them consistently, or very few Spells/Traps along with the few monsters as reasonable amount of cards for an archetype and expect them to be playable; not a thought comes through their heads to consider playtesting them before release and/or make their impact in the meta as rouge or tier 2 at most that'll survive for several years. OCG has their say over TCG, so we are not allowed to get decent exclusive archetypes in that design. This along with their way of designing TCG sets which makes any of the card markets wallow in high expense just proves Konami just hates TCG countries and consumers.

I'm now sure about it, this is the scheme of Konami about tcg exclusive archetypes: first captivating wave of cards you'll play as 2-3 ofs, second filler wave of cards you'll play as 1 ofs, ocg broken support cards you'll have to wait for.
