You are not being selfish at all! If anything, you're doing what's right for your child and your own health! I took a break from teaching 3 years ago so I could focus on my children at home, and I've never regretted it! You can never get back these precious years with your kids. Teaching can zap up your time and energy! I still love to teach, but I do it from home now part-time and it's a wonderful compromise!

Thank you for the very REAL classroom! You gave me so many great ideas without the standards feeling unreachable! So many tours are these perfectly labeled rooms that I roll my eyes at, but yours is so functional and cute and real! Many blessing to your growing family!!

I think you are very wise to take care of yourself and your health in this season. You hinted that things have not been smooth sailing - I'm sorry to hear that and I will be praying that whatever those problems are, that they'll resolve in a positive way. I'm in my 4th year of teaching (but I'm much older than you!), and I'm starting to hit some hard brick walls. Mostly because I'm in a small school with no team. I'm the only Year 3 teacher, so I have to do EVERYthing. I love that you are making careful decisions about all of those things. Teaching will always be there when you're reading to come back to it. In the meantime, we get to see you more often, so YAY for us!

Good luck! I know leaving the classroom isn’t easy, but your personal and family needs come first. Schools will always need teachers and they will be lucky to have you. I’ve been teaching for many years, but I definitely stole some of your ideas! I can’t wait to see what’s pops up in your TPT store!

Good for you for taking care of you! If you don’t take care of yourself, you have nothing to give to others. I hope you don’t take too long off because you’re obviously an amazing teacher. Your students are very lucky to have had you! Best of luck in your new life!

I discovered this channel after already following the Nichols Nook. I have recently qualified as a teachers aide/assistant/support so always keen see the teacher side of things. Last video I saw on the Nichols Nook was the telling the family video, it sounds like the pregnancy has been rough and I hope everything is ok. Enjoy the teaching break so when you do come back, you are refreshed and ready to tackle teaching with a clear mind and not burnt out.

Jess, I've followed your classroom vlog since last summer, and just recently your family vlog. I love them both! I have loved keeping up with your classroom updates, your beautiful journey with your Little One and now your pregnancy! There is a time lapse between your actual pregnancy, and your pregnancy updates and I totally understand why, but in this video you mention complications. I am praying that everything is going well. I was selfishly disappointed that you were not doing Classroom Diva vlogs anymore, but I get it. You need to take care of you first so that you can care for those around you. Blessings to you and your family!

I really appreciate your videos! I love your classroom. I respect the fact that you let it be known that your classrooms are "used". I love this because this lets me know that your students use the classroom. Deeper than that, they use the classroom themselves as a way to take responsibility for their own education. I always hold my students accountable for that. Yet you are so very organized to me. I actually put on one of your videos when it is time for me to organize something at home or in the classroom!! Powerful stuff! Keep up the good work.

I love, love, love the calm down area! When I was younger I didn’t get in trouble but maybe twice.. ( I have adhd so I would get off track of the subject) but when we was put into a time out or something in those lines lol the teachers would make us write what we did wrong and then make us write what we should have done and then write “I will not do” whatever we did, Now as I seen that didn’t work for the kids in the class they would come back and just go back to doing what they was doing originally, lol but I think the calm down area is amazing! Instead of having to write this big that would be thrown away, I alway grew up coloring and drawing and holding thing like a stress ball just something that would calm me down, but my school don’t believe in that because of “too much attention”. Coloring always helped me get back on track of what I was doing, when I moved out and got a job my first job was fast food, I worked at Hardee’s, I also have anxiety as well and so I would bring a one of those small on the go coloring books and just color (when there was no customers or things needing to be done also on my break) so I really appreciate what you have done with that! I’m sorry this was a bit of a long comment😂 but I just wanted to let you know! ❤️

I am in florida and there is something called FLVS or if you want to be with a district OCVS. And you are a teacher from home and it is awesome from what I have heard. I was a student with OCVS. my teachers mainly called me once or twice a month and you work from home and get paid the exact same for the Orange county pay schedule. It is k-12th grade.

Alexis TheBunny What does FLVS and OCVS stand for?
@SpaceLexy6 жыл бұрын
Caitzee FLVS is Florida virtual school and you can be anywhere in Florida and use that school as a platform to finish your high school education while still physically being in high school. High schools in Florida use it as a tool so that you don’t have to enroll in a lot of classes, you can take classes online along with your normal physical high school classes. FLVS does not give out diplomas. OCVS is a part of the Orange County district do it stands for Orange County Virtual School. OCVS is an actual high school that many kids go to and it awards diplomas because it is an actual school. You don’t have to attend physical school so it is considered virtual homeschooling. Both FLVS and OCVS are for k-12 and FLVS is used as the learning platform for OCVS if that makes sense. OCVS uses FLVS virtual learning system. Only difference like I stated, is OCVS awards diplomas. Teachers are able to be more one on one and when you fall back in class you have to work one on one with your teacher at the district office which is super awesome to be honest because it’s not like a normal physical school it’s like a fun place to learn and get to know your teacher and the subject your are struggling in. Once you have caught up on your work you can go back to doing it online. I am in college now as a Junior and wow let me tell you, OCVS definitely set me up for a easy time in college because I was used to doing school online by the time I graduated high school. Where I live it is normal for students to do online school because everyone is normally in a sport or activity where they need the flexibility when it comes to their education.

I’m not normally a commenter, but I just have to tell you how encouraged I am by your story! I have been following you for several months now and love seeing other Christian teachers in the trenches too, as well as you all stepping in to foster a child in need even when your husband was deployed. I think you taking some time off to focus on you and your baby’s health and your family, is a great thing, and I don’t think of it as a selfish decision at all. I have been teaching for five years in very hard and stressful title 1 schools and am transitioning to a small private Christian school hoping it’s way less stressful. You definitely have to care for yourself or else you’ll be no good for your kiddos. I have teared up watching all your pregnancy videos, and am so happy for y’all. Praise God! Good luck on your upcoming move. I’m a Floridian as well and have to agree that it’s the best place. 😊

I wish you all the best in the future and believe it that I will still follow you on The Nichols' Nook . I truly cannot get enough of you being one of the most resourceful , sweetest and beautiful teachers on earth . I just said this to someone else today and really I should have saved it for you in these times but without repeating too much of it those students are going to miss the everything out of you and they will have a void in their hearts that can only be filled by you and really Our Nation's Public School System needs a teacher like you in it and in my view I wish that you were in it like 1980s long time ago .
