Idk if you'll respond, but I am studying to be an elementary school resource teacher and the no under-the-table rule was interesting I want your thoughts overall on what rules would make sense for a teacher who pulls from Gen ed (aka not self-contained) ⭐So on the no list: - Chairs up (because a lot of chairs up and down if every hour) - Wipe table (time could be spent academically and a lot of wipes) - Eyes forward (autistic students struggle with eye contact) - Raise hand (does this apply in small groups? I've been a para in resource and sometimes it does/does not) - Say please and thank you (I always feel naggy when I ask for that tbh, plus I have a hard time remembering too, but I will model the thank you, please sounds weird to me) - Follow directions (I feel like that is expected already) - Believe in yourself (for someone with anxiety that is stressful) - Have fun (pressure to have fun, sometimes we have bad days. I think that's where teacher personality steps in. Plus I'll repeat that teachers want school to be fun) ⭐On the change-up list: - Enter the room quietly = enter room respectfully, you can say hi but not loudly - Do your best (puts a lot of pressure - as an adult, I sometimes don't feel my best) = Try - Ready to learn (anxiety-inducing - what if I'm not ready) = Open mind - Respectful (Golden Rule - that has stuck with me from childhood and it's a way to make it a more tangible model to follow, especially for autistic students, I'm autistic but was never in SPED) - Hands to self (Children need hugs and high fives for development) = Consent (I think I need to workshop that more though) - No under the table (this is where it is dicey, would a gen ed teacher be mad if in the sped room the teacher allowed it as a reward? because that would be an AWESOME reward if it was set up with student safety in mind and had a specific table) - Work area clean always (I know I tend to devolve into chaos easily from ADHD) = Pick up/put away your messes (it also makes the instruction simple and detailed. Pick up and put away means everything has a place) ⭐On the keep list - Hallway quiet, yes yes yes yes, but there can be quiet conversation if walking with an adult - Take turns - Clean when done - Eliminate distractions (though that feels more like a classroom environment thing) - Don't touch other's items ⭐On the added list - Communicate/talk/tell an adult (so much can be helped if they just say something) ⭐On the unsure list: - Fidgets (I need to ponder this a lot) - Be kind (I want to be simple and this feels like the same as the golden rule but idk)

There's a rule you forgot to mention...be good looking. Humans, and especially teens, react immediately in a positive way to good looking people, this has been shown in countless experiments. This isn't to say that if you aren't an attractive person you won't be able to control your classroom, but is sure helps. Unattractive people have an additional hurdle they must overcome, that's simply a fact. Teens, just learning about the world (mostly through their cell phones these days) are extremely shallow.

I never got attention at home because my parents worked all the time and i was raised by nannies. Many times my nanny wouldn't have time to make me breakfast or lunch and i would eat my first meal when my mom would come home around 17 o'clock. But at school, my way of getting attention was to be the best! To always raise my hand when the teacher asks something, to get first into all the contests, to do all the extracurricular activities and to be praised. Interesting fact, why do some choose this way and some the other way?

Do you still come on here? I have a question, not everyone has a garden room. We do not, we have a large window, can we just grow them inside the classroom?

In one of my feild classes in college, some ideas for class rules are four things, Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Do Your Best Work. It's not to much for them, and it can be used to determine if the behavior is appropriate or not. My middle school actually did something like this and called them the four expectations.

You had such a sweet class. I just had the school year from hell that I'm now recovering from. Constant screaming, crying, students fighting, students insulting teachers, students hitting teachers, parents fighting each other outside of the school. We had little to no support from admin but were still expected to perform amid extreme student misbehavior. I spent one year at that school and in that district. I went there not knowing about the teacher turnover rate as I moved from out of state. Through all the chaos, my students grew academically, but I was so physically and mentally exhausted. Watching this reminds me of teaching before this last school year. I LOVE teaching, but this past year almost spoiled my joy of teaching, but I wouldn't allow that. I'm hopeful that this new year in a new school and district will be much better. There were near 30 of us teachers and para that left. We are all so psychologically traumatized that we are hesitant to get our hopes up for the new year in our new schools. Please pray for teachers everywhere.

I bet your male students dream about you every night? You look just like my 7th grade teacher and I had the biggest crush on her ❤. I can imagine your boys in your class taking in what you saying and masturbating at the same time. ❤❤
