Well, about the Pro VS Mini, you said they didn't advertirse it as a paraphonic synth and I just bought it. In every single ad and review they stated it as a paraphonic synth. And for less than a US$100 is understandable that the control setting is a bit complicated. I understand your frustration but Behringer is a good alternative for us who don't have that much money.

I bought my Deepmind 12 because of the spec list. I love it, I love how it's both simple and complex. Everything you need is on the front panel, but if you want to it can get so much more complex if you go into the menus. I used to sit and play for hours just looking out the window onto the Salford skyline. I loved it. I've bonded with it over many quiet nights.

ASM is great. I haven't needed any parts or repairs, but their customer service seems great. I've had to troubleshoot and I've literally spoken to the designer of the synth.

I don't bash Behringer because I think people have a right to inexpensive gear, and shouldn't be made to feel lesser than for using it. As for me though, I'd rather just save up for things I really want and have fewer pieces of gear in general, so Behringer is not part of the equation for me. Although I have borrowed / used a fair number of their pieces for my music, and I think that their products do sound good and can get a lot done if you know what you need them for. They wouldn't be my pick for anything staying in my studio permanently, though.

I have purchased plenty of Behringer items, not just synths, but plenty of synths as well, and now in retrospect, after all my experiences - I wouldn't have dealt with them. Substandard workmanship, underdeveloped and glitchy software, terrible attitude and plenty of false advertising. And synths aren't even the worst examples, but Behringer pedals, and mixing boards, - OMG. How do you create a mixer which as soon as you purchase it, and use a temperature reader - you immediately realize that if you don't change the heatsink on its output transistors for a much larger one, and install a fan to cool it as well - your mixer will burn out in a couple of weeks? No, it's not because I got a "faulty item". It's BY DESIGN. I know because I repaired them for people, as I work with DC electronics. So as far as your comment - it's simply a form of "Blame the Victim" strategy, there is a premise, but somehow you omitted the conclusion, why is that? Grow a pair, - if you said "A". - follow through to a "B". 🙄

Cheers for this, behringer is never gonna change. It's like McDonald's, when we're young it's cheap, and it suits a purpose. When we are old, behringer is expensive and valueless, and suits very little purpose. If I needed McDonald's, I might not tell all to social media, like I would with anything from Dave Smith. All said and done; the TD-3 is quite remarkable though, and a gem. Yea, totally unhinged ... frothing at the mouth :)

My Behringer MS1 died on me as soon as it made it through its second year. It was really difficult to get an official repair service to even look at it (I live in Spain) and they told me the repair was 15% more expensive than getting a new one. And my Behringer Xenyx uses a propietary ac connector with pins so thin that they broke within six months of use and I had to solder and fix the cable myself. I will not be buying Behringer anymore, no matter how tempting their products.

Sequential provided me with part numbers and extensive guidance to replace the faulty endless encoders on my Prophet 08. A synth that is waaaay out of warranty at this point, but they were more than willing to help me.

Korg Minilogue XD module and Waldorf Kyra got my money this year. Hardware I could not fault. Only Behringer product that will get my money, is towards a good (mid-priced) hard hitting digital drum machine, that lends itself to mid 80s/ industrial music. And it don't have to be Behringer to make that.

I'm sorry you're having a rough time with this synth. So I am one of the people who will come into the comments and say the screen will last longer than an OLED 😅I've already had a couple of pieces of expensive gear (one a Zoia) break their OLEDs in the past couple of years with not that much run time. The LCD screens don't look as nice, but no one is saving money on using them, because they're more expensive than the OLEDs. That said they could definitely pick a better looking LCD and let you control the color/brightness to adjust to your vision. Regardless this screen will still be trucking in 10 or 20 years, the mini OLEDs will probably not be, and I'm not buying any more expensive gear with those on for that reason.

I'm not sure I agree with the things regarding Behringer and firmware... Sadly, quite a few companies release stuff that's 'unfinished' and have the public beta test things for them. Big names like Roland, Yamaha, Korg, etc. and on and on do this on the regular. My point to you is that they're not the only company who releases things before they're prime time ready. The sad truth is that most companies rush to get to market - especially after the product has been announced. Microsoft has been beta testing with the general public with Windows for the last 20+ years. I will say that I was an early adapter to the Behringer RD-8. It was VERY unfinished. *HOWEVER*, they were VERY responsive with suggestions, bug fixes, etc. and kept updating the firmware to reflect this. They even delayed the RD-9 so they could nail the firmware on that. They do listen to their customer base and update their various device's firmware.

I agree regarding Behringer, their main selling point is price price price. They have a huge cohort of supporters and they are blinded by the cloned shiny objects presented before them. I agree regarding Sequential, a quality company all the way.

Their supporters, I’m probably one of them, get clones of the stuff they really want at very cheap prices. In terms of reliability per item sold, they’re no different from any other brand. Having spent a small fortune on synths over the years (Jupiter 8, 6, Junos, Emulator, 101, 303, 808, 909, Elektron boxes etc etc) I’ve come full circle. For actually making music, cheap works just as well for me. And I avoid the dreaded ‘all the gear, no idea’ syndrome. Don’t get me wrong, if I was still a collector I’d love a Sequential or an Oberheim 👍

I'm not a snob to behringer stuff as I understand their selling point but I allways say you get what you pay for. I could not put Sequential and behringer side by side and say their Design and Development /Manufacturing are on par with one another. Taking the keybed of this Synth alone, its not acceptable for a Synth to have a keybed failing like this in this decade and I've heard many more say they have the same issue. I'm down to 1 behringer and that's the TD3-MO, great but not fantastic.

Im Just pissed that the ubxa was such a sh*t show of a launch and was hopeful for the desktop for a long time, (also a Pro800 that had noise issues and returned) anyway I decided to buy a Prophet 5 recently instead and glad of my decision. The TD3-MO is an excellent synth however slightly dead and lacking slight umph. I read recently people are doing internal calibration to get that extra bit out of it so exploring that route. It is a faithful clone and if you love the acid sound it's an absolute purchase.

The fact you're about sharing your hobby and your experiences with your own gear is what I like about this channel. No grifting and social media phoniness (and no stupid thumbnail images!). I'd rather hear viewpoints from someone who bought a synth because they wanted to, you know, have the synth and use it in their music, than listen to advertising speil from someone who was paid to demo a product (and they often fudge the actual relationship with companies...bit better these days, but it was often hard to tell what their skin in the game was).

(long time keys player who used to have more stuff but sold most back in the softsynth craze of the late 2000's haha). I'm somewhat interested in the Summit, but the UDO Super 6/Gemini is seriously making me wonder if it will sound better. I've heard the Summit/Peak is great on features, but possibly a little lacking in pure tone character. Would love to hear your recommendations for/against it vs something else.

Luckily, I never got to know these classic synths enough to want to buy their Behringer counterparts…as it sounds like a pretty crappy experience. Funny you mentioned going digital with the Hydrasynth Explorer. I just got mine yesterday and after playing around with the presets for a while, I thought to myself that I'll never need one of those classic synths :D The Hydrasynth sounds really great, has FX built in, has so many more options than the analogs…more than enough for me. But I get it, if you are dead-set on something…you need the real thing!

To be fair, OLEDs haven't been around long enough to say they won't have longevity issues. Personally, I'd rather have LCD or LED screen on my synths, for just that reason, great looking as OLEDs are. However, your point stands 100% - oramge on an orange background, who the hell thought that anyone would consider that a good idea ? WTF ? When I see videos like this, it just puts me off Behringer gear even further.

I stayed to the end, so great to hear some pure honesty and frustration! I've been a musician for 56 years playing keys and guitar and have so much frustration at times. Over the half century have run into a few manufacturers who just sell undependable stuff; bad stuff, and I would never mention it except I have bought many of their products that all fail just after the years warrantee ends. As you stated, a broken product needs shipped to fix, the shipping alone can further damage it and cost a lot, plus keyboards don't fit in standard boxes. IF I had to pay to fix a product I will trash it, and I have a gigantic trash can full or Behringer and Alesis gear. So, after 4-8 or more failures in a row, I don't buy from them anymore. Sold all my high end Casio's as well with horrible sound quality. Sorry no more, sure do want a DeepMind6, but won't take a chance. Most my synths cost around $400 to $1400, with a few serious synths over the $2500 range. I buy the cheaper simpler synths and then layer them together to make different and innovative sound instead of buying an expensive synth with lots of modulation options and features. The expensive synths are scarry, I have no way to repair them locally, and if one fails, don't know what I will do. Last year was the first year (since the 1980s) I bought expensive synths, and have found problems with them, seems the more I pay the more problems they have....AND... I never buy a synth until it has been on the market 3 or more years. But reviewers never use a synth like a musician would, long hours of use in a short time, so I never get good reviews even after the synth has been on the market for 3 years. Never hear of problems, from use...until I get one and use it for a year. So, today I have two expensive very disappointing keyboards each with a very bad problem, what to do? After hearing about the Kurtzweil VAST OS for the last 35 years, finally bought one, just to find out this very old OS is extremely unstable, corrupting every few minutes while building up a new sound design or just stepping through patches and playing. And Roland's top of the line V-Piano synth the RD-2000 where it won't sustain the same across an octave. Frustrations!! I have owned dozens of Roland products since the 1980's all wonderful dependable gear, so much value for your money, then this RD-2000 and now what? Kurtzweil is a first purchase, you would think an OS 35 years in use would be more stable...wouldn't you? Well...there's my rant for ya!! :)

It's a shame what they did to the ubxa. When I first heard about it a few years ago I was really excited but now that it's available.. I don't want it. "Is this something I would feel comfortable selling to someone?" is what I ask myself when I get anything. It seems so hard to get a product that has the fit and finish of what's advertised. All of these little issues add up and blame ultimately falls on you when a buyer notices them too.

I wouldn’t spend more than I’m willing to lose on a Behringer. $100 VS Mini or $200 Crave, sure, but I wouldn’t go much higher. Rather support Arturia or Dreadbox. Would love a Deepmind but not willing to drop $800 & have it go tits up in a couple years. You’re right about them pushing too many products out too quickly. I think Behringer could win some much needed favor if they’d open up with technical manuals & up their product support. Fab extra SMT modules customers can purchase to repair the most common failures. We don’t need more manufacturers making Chinesium crap that’ll be in landfills in a few years.

I had a Deepmind 6 for several years and while I loved the sounds it was capable of producing, I never felt super inspired playing it. Recently bought a Prophet Rev2 and holy hell...I cannot stop playing it. The Rev2 with Strymon Brig and Cloudburst is ridiculous. Anyone who thinks the Rev2 can't hang with the Prophet 6 or Prophet 5 is on drugs. Anyway, I'm done with Behringer too - it's way more fun and inspiring playing instruments that aren't cloning something else for less money.

Hey Yuki, I’m glad James Dyson could help you figure out what to do next. Good to hear Sweetwater has your back. I can’t really deal with them, as I’m located in the Netherlands, but I have similar experiences with Thomann. You haven’t been very lucky ‘lately’ with your gear acquisitions, dang! I do sense your emotions that also stem from that and that’s totally fine. Some might accuse you of synth/pedal snobbism, but I think you might be more of a knowledgeable connoisseur, lol. Furthermore, you are also very human, and that means you can be enthusiastic, critical or sad about gear, which is totally fine and, to me, even great, because they are not marketing arranged reviews. These are the counterpart to those. I run 10-12 hardware synths of all kinds and brands (Roland, Moog, ASM, Korg, Novation, Modal, Arturia and Behringer) and have mostly been lucky. I have one Behringer synth, the DeepMind 12D, which is one of my first synths and it will grow old with me I hope. My audio interface is the Behringer XR18, which has a very good value for money, but can be hard to figure out due to its complexity and the lack of a good manual. I feel Behringer offers something other manufacturers don’t offer, cheap reimagined versions of classic synths. This is great and means many, many people can have access to those ‘classics’. So far so good. However, Behringer isn’t unique regarding this, for their price point, they have to cut corners and sometimes it seems they cut a bit too deep. Also, they are like a gateway to other manufacturers. For example, I liked the Behringer Poly-D, but ended up with a Moog Subsequent 37, because the Behringer’s filter cutoff etc. can’t really be midi controlled. Behringer has a place and it’s good they keep the other manufacturers on their toes. Otherwise prices would really spiral (which they are anyway from some manufacturers). I recently crossed back from dawless to hybrid, with an Ableton Push 3 and only a couple of plugins (the Valhalla stuff and some soft synths from GForce and Cherry Audio). This time I’ll keep the amount of VST’s very low to keep it simple. The OB-X and SEM from GForce are really great as is the GX-80 from Cherry. I’m waiting for U-he to put Repro on sale for my Prophet sound. Maybe get Arturia Pigments as well, but after that I’m fine (wink). I love the Push 3 and between those VST’s and my hardware synths, I’m sonically satisfied. But that’s just my way. Everyone should follow their own path into musical bliss. It’s a long (pricey) journey, but there is so much to experience and learn along the way. So keep your spirits up Yuki. I’m sure one day you might find another Behringer synth to your liking. If not, that’s their loss. And while these can be dark and scary times, not in the least because of those Internet echo chambers of doom we nowadays have, I think this coming together of a couple of perfect strangers, just trying to help someone out a bit, is one of the best cases for Internet technology. Cheers man! Keep up the good work with your video’s, there are many people out there who appreciate you because of them, just the way they (and you) are!

thank you for making video. 1: screen - I agree, it sucks, i like that this synth isnt't aimed at menu diving. hoping that it will do the job. 2: I hope that the patches will be updated. with new firmware, looks like a minor problem. Behringer makes a LOT of hype and it got me the Deepmind12, VC340 and the TR808 clone. I see now that if you wait a bit the prices drop, but also mkII appear. The Ubxa, just got the desktop version launched today, it solves the problem you mentioned earlier. I really want a 16voices machine, but i get you're point, reduce in voices and get a more reputable brand. I think Behringer will have to addapt better service quality, because they have a old bad reputation, if they can't shake that off. They do have a problem. Seeing all the upcoming gear/ideas they will be the best selling synth manufacturer (in ammount of units) I guess most of the consumers choose quantity over quality. you've reached the point to go for sustainabilty and quality. Love the channel keep up all the effort!

It's junk. Sorry. You get what you pay for. If you went out and bought the parts for this and made it yourself, it would be more expensive. And that suggests its economy is reflected in its manufacture. Low price. Low standards.

Well, I had a RD8, and I sold it, I had a RD6 and I sold it. I have a VC340 and is not working any more 👏👎🏼. The last synth that a bought from Behringer was the Solina and let me tell you, I love it. I still have a TD3 and is ok, it’s a keeper. This pass week I order the OB Teo-5 😊

@@fjfrancois I steer clear of any Behringer, it's too hit and miss. You want a nice bass box, the Erica Synths Bassline DB-01. You will pay more, but it's an absolute beast.
