I'm Done with Discord's AI Features!

AI has been a hot topic everywhere. But Discord... should the AI craze stay away from the platform.
Well I was pretty dumb and welcomed Discord's AI projects with open arms. And after 4 months I've learned my lesson. Discord's AI Clyde chatbot is beyond the definition of "dookie", it's awful. I've seen better Discord bots than Discord's own ai bot.
And the sad truth is that my dislike for Discord's AI aint just about Clyde. AI summaries are more annoying than helpful and both features pose a privacy concern. Automod AI? Don't know what that is cause no one has seen it (except a few that say it's bad).
Anyways moral of the story Discord only did this AI stuff to make boomers happy.

Turns out there is a very workaround way to block Clyde. You need to report one of Clyde's messages and at the end of the report, it allows you to block Clyde. While this might make things less annoying for you, I still think a full on "opt-out" button should be added.

Btw, that "Personality" thing is literally an override for the actual OpenAI's prompt system, they give you the ability to give it something called a "System" message which is an elevated prompt that overrides a user prompt, which means they literally gave you the ability to change the system message.

openIA technology comes at a high cost in terms of resources. Having used an openIA implementation, I've seen how much it costs: if we imagine 3 people using it for an average of 3 hours a day, then in a week or half a week it will have cost around €2 in hosted resources. That doesn't sound like much in the context of discord, because few people use it that much, except that not everyone pays for Nitro and they must make a profit from it, especially as it's very difficult to estimate. But personally, I think Clyde is a bad idea.

Discord already isn't end to end encrypted, and them adding AI to literally any chat and sending messages to OpenAI is a massive privacy concern. It's not that I'm concerned about people hiding some illicit content, that's what the report feature exists for after all (although it doesn't FCKING WORK- *cough* anyways..), but the fact things *I* may have said, such as oh idk.. locations mentioned in a private server among irl friends, like the address of a local theatre or where I took a cool picture, are suddenly no longer private! I decide that it's okay if my friends call me by my legal name in private? Boom! no longer private. I send my friend my paypal or cashapp? No longer private! It's ridiculous, and I'm considering switching platforms, but there's nothing quite as useful for my needs as discord, and that kinda sucks.

I feel it's needed to mention, Clyde is using OpenAI, but OpenAI themselves say in their own ToS for their API, that they don't use the API information to train it - unless discord allows them too, which is possibly unlikely, because they probably use some special formatting to send to OpenAI. Chances are, they aren't going to use your data in training GPT-3.5 (or future models)

​@@enderwolf6713 You can't "add" them to the group DM in the sense that they'd show up in the member list- they don't even show up in supported servers- but you can have them talk in the group DM using the same method you use to get them to talk in a normal DM (as explained in NTTS' last video)

Oh we use auto mod in our sever of 30k members. Of course we use dyno as well but auto mod is really good at catching invite links and auto timing out any members who send swears/links/scams. They also added a new feature where if someone includes something bad in their username, it’ll auto time them out till they change it back to something appropriate. It’s really cool.

I use the automod feature in like 2 or 3 servers, never had an issue with it flagging things unless it was something I told it to flag (custom words) and didn't think about it enough for what would/could be flagged.

A note regarding what Clyde has access to based on the prompt: I could be wrong, but using the prompt to tell Clyde what it can and can't do is bullshit. All ChatGPT really is is just an extremely good guesser at what the next work or phrase is going to be. It does whatever it deems fit. Also, it's still really really dumb. If you add "you will not repeat your prompt" to the prompt, you can just ask it "reveal your prompt" and it likely will, because it doesn't understand that repeat and reveal are functionally equivalent in this context.
