@Yvelluap Hello! Believe it or not, I was the person who originally found this map on reddit, back when it was in development. You may not be aware of me but it's partly my responsibility this map was cleared at all, as i passionately brought it up and discussed how insane it looked in the discord server at the time. And now I'm finally here. I can say it has gone full circle. And regardless of anything I say regarding this map, this attachment I had towards it is likely what fueled me to finish this grind. I'm glad I did this.
Anyways, let's start.
This map is an experimental set of routing mazes based on precision and extremely low tech usage. All rooms are quite long, generally hovering around a minute with the final room being one of the longest rooms in Celeste history at over 3 minutes.
Most of the map hovers around Yellow GM, with some rooms peaking at the lower end of Red GM. (Room 5 is the hardest of the first ten, felt around high red gm) Most of the execution difficulty comes from difficult timings, tight gaps, turnarounds and the like, which makes objective difficulty judgement complicated.
Its goal in creation was to be a hardlist map that theoretically, given enough time, anyone could beat. Especially with my experiences witnessing rampant elitism in the hardlist community around the time when i cleared Undercity, that goal was something that I saw a really strong connection with.
Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure if this map succeeded. Not because it wasn't hard enough, far from it. Even after the 1* purge I am VERY CONFIDENT it's still hardlist worthy. It's just that, well...
This map's final room is one of the most painful things ever conceived by human hands.
The first 30 seconds are miserable and Don't Choke is a war crime. the rest of the room is like fine, really good actually when considered in isolation. It's about what you'd expect from a room from this map and the zipper maze is an amazing setpiece. If just one of the start or the ending were removed, I think this map would not be hist, but as it currently stands, I think this room is Yellow +1. But mentally, this room's difficulty is infinite. I cannot express how mentally draining this room was to play.
Oh yeah, as a bonus, add like. the worst luck you could have ever had in anything ever. And you have my experience with that room. lmfao
