Do you want me to share with you something that will make your life ONE MILLION TIMES MORE BETTER IN MANY WAYS? Speak English correctly - replace the “i don’t do that no more” with “I don’t do that anymore” etc. This can help you land better jobs and dates with smart and intelligent people. Thanks for sharing your personal story !! Very cool!! All the best always!!

Damn. It was really nice (and sad) seeing this video. I can really relate. The tying of flamboyancy/fruityness whatever you want to call it to being simply homosexual really hurts a lot of people and frankly is fucking annoying. Idk, just the other day someone I was talking to said they thought gays were "cute" and that they "don't mind them", when the topic was brought up... Hope you can get your family to not be wusses about it and realize it's not a problem or a big deal.

Man I feel you bro. I'm what most would consider a masculine gay men, but a lot of people assumed I was gay for a while. I can't really talk about anything gay without the unaffirming attitudes that come from my family. This is why it's important for all of us as gay men to stick together.

You need to have conversations about your sexual orientation with your family. It will help you and them feel whole. It is who you are. I guarantee you they have questions they want to ask, you will too as the conversations start. Trust me, things will be so much better if you start to open that door. No one is more conservative, manly etc. than my father. We had a heart to heart one night. Things are much better. He still doesn't ask about boyfriends but he never asked too many questions of my brother and sister either.

I don't understand why your video has only 1012 hits. It's excellent and should be seen by many others. It's earthy, honest, straight forward and refreshing. I'm a 68-year-old gay American now living in Wales (which is NOT part of England, but of the UK). Sorry I'm over 60, but I care. I support your process and your interesting story. And I miss America. originally from Texas. -- Donald

+Adorkable You're actually the only gay channel in this big, crazy youtube world that I can identify with. I've subscribed to a few other gay dude channels then unsubscribed shortly after because I just didn't fucking care what these kids were doing. You're young, but you have a wise old soul and just pretty damn adorkable.

***** My coming out story was kinda eh. It wasn't bad or traumatic and my parents and brother were accepting and whatnot. I was 23 and I'm in my forties now. Life pretty just went on other family dramas ensued that have nothing to do with the gay thing. There are a lot of wonderful coming out stories out there. It's nice to see how far our society has come. It's a great time to come out for many of us. Every new generation will stamp out the stigma and ignorance eventually. I just subscribed yesterday and watched about ten of your vids so far. Maybe I should start at the beginning and work my way up. Either way, I'll try and not be a jerk in the comments.

Maybe your family is waiting for you to say something about it. Since you did never come out to them, maybe they assume that you don't wanna talk about it? I'm just guessing here. My parents already knew but they waited until I said something. Anyway thanks for sharing the story. I never was fond of the LGBTQ label. Who made that up? Like a big pile of 'gender defects' or something. I used to hate the gay community flaunting with their drag queens and leather masters and slaves. I didn't want to be represented by that. Now I think ah 'whatever' but it will never be my community.
@MattMoore837 жыл бұрын
Still don't fully understand the LGBT community but I'm like you at this point, I still don't know what gender has anything to do with orientation but I guess it's OK that they mix together, Since this video was released a few years ago, I have talked with my parents about it and they are not scceptubg of gay marriage but they are accepting of me. Thank you for responding buddy it's good to hear responses/suggestions for this video still. :)

I am a gay man. One thing that has always driven me crazy is the fact that people who identify as transgender are automatically associated with the gay community. Gay, bisexual, and lesbian deal with sexual orientation. Being trans is sexual identity. Sexual identity has nothing to do with sexual orientation, so why are they often classified in the same category?

Obviously you have to deal with your family and them finding some way to accept you b/c they hopefully love you in your own way/time. I did it at 17 in 1984 at the height of AIDS/HIV hysteria, it made it all so much harder. I was also raised in a strict Roman Catholic family where making gay jokes or fun of gay people was the norm. After a long time of self loathing, praying every night when I went to bed for God to make me normal, make me feel like my male friends did...make me like girl and be attracted to them. Finally He made me realize I was normal just as I was. After all that I'd gone thru I knew I couldn't hide it from my family/be closeted/deceive so I told them with the tag line of "if u want me in ur life u have to accept me". Evolution happened and they did/do.I love them so much. Hope u can have same experience!Good luck,u can do it!

My mom LOVES Anderson Cooper. We'd watch his show all the time. After he came out she stopped watching. Its weird because I'm out and she never hated me for being gay. No questions are ever asked directly its just little side comments from time to time that lets me know she doesn't approve. My best friend really impressed me though. He used to talk shit about gays all the time a few years ago - changed the channel if gays came on etc. And after I came out he took a week to kinda process but then did a 180 and we were back to normal. I even felt he was jealous of one guy I was talking to lol.

dothedeed I have been there and I can assure you, he is bisexual, he likely just prefers to live a straight life. I had a best friend who was exactly the same way (although this was before gay rights were a huge concern). If he get's hard in the bed with you and places his emotions into you like a relationship then he surely likes you as more than a friend. He probably just prefers to be committed to a straight relationship. Be careful and don't fool yourself because I did and was hurt badly from the experience. I no longer have this friend cause he lashed out and intensified his hatred because his feelings were getting too strong for him to deny. My mom does this like a professional but then again she has yet to accept me. Every time I talk to her she asks if I am talking to a young lady or when am I going to settle down. Oh, and there is this one, "every young lady is looking for a man like you if you give them a chance." (Why? Because I can cook, listen, clean the clothes and replace flooring while changing a diaper, all at the same time? lol.) It is funny because her friends and coworkers always tell her little hints to ease her into accepting the truth. One of her friends even said to her, "I bet Chris gets hit on by guys all the time because he is just pretty enough to not be feminine looking and just masculine enough to not be domineering." My mom hasn't talked to her since. Just petty smh.

One of my parent's friends is gay (although, when I met him, I was completely unaware of it, which had I not been, it would have probably been easier for me to come out earlier in my life). He didn't come out until he was in his late 50s, while he was married to a woman and they already had two kids. He did this because his parents were hardcore catholics and he felt intimidated by them, and by this time, they had already passed away. She was very accepting of him afterward, and they're still friends today. He now has a boyfriend/husband (I'm not sure if they married yet or not) and is living very happily. Don't ever think it is too late to come out.
@NostalgiCrazy9 жыл бұрын
atticus rivas It's really sad when they come out that late :( Mostly because it's no longer just his problem (wife and kids). I really hope people come out sooner and avoid living the straight lie now that LGBT acceptance has skyrocketed. I know we still have a long way to go but it's gotten a lot better.

Hey, any updates on the family? I know how it is, even though my family has accepted it, it still isn't talked about much and my parents could use some LGBT education lol. My mom and I were watching the Bruce Jenner thing on TV and I had to break it down to her how being trans is not the same as being gay. The assumption your sister made is based on the stereotypical effeminate gays being the main focus in the media, so straights always assume we just want to be girls! Frustrating because it will take some time to change that view.
@alexj55499 жыл бұрын
You are so cute! And I know how that feels. I was forced to come out because my family read my texts I sent to my friend about this boy I liked. And I hurt me in a way. But they still treat me the same.

I don't wonder that you had difficulty in convincing your sister that trans and gay are not the same. I have met plenty who have a problem accepting that gay does not mean paedophile. I came out in my mid 40's and people I had know all my life, whose children I 'sat' during the occasional family crisis began to put me at arm's length. I'm sure that many of them suspected but preferred that it remain unsaid...because then they can't deny they know and in certain social groups there is guilt in that knowledge "OMG! you left your KIDS with him??!!" (Yep, some of that floated back in my direction) Certain people within my own immediate and extended family offered me the same treatment and found excuses to omit me from guest lists....and that hurt of course. Happily the kids are fine, it's the parents I have had the problem with. At 55 (years of age) I am in a stable, happy partnership.Sure,we need to work at it ( both of us lived relatively solo social existences for many years after all ) but have thus far shared six very worthwhile years. I have finally sorted the wheat from the chaff and now appreciate genuine friendship and support from a nucleus of fair, intelligent, open minded people. I enjoyed your very worthwhile video but want to say up front to those who visit here...if you expect everyone to smile in acknowledgement and wrap their loving arms around you, you are bound for disappointment. There are plenty of REAL people out there happy to accept you for whom you are. Fuck the rest. Forget about them and you will discover as you move on how unimportant they really are. Thank you for your post...love Joel

it really did give me the extra bit of courage to go ahead and be honest and genuine with the remainder of my immediate family...I already knew some of them would respond with insensitivity and close mindedness and just the thought of that alone stopped me everytime. I stumbled upon your video and knowing and seeing you made it through some close mindedness and judgement and you seem to be doing great now really gave me the extra push and taught me it's okay that not everyone will understand and respond correctly. I just didn't want to keep hiding certain parts of myself regardless. now I get to finish the remaining school year (and the rest of my life) with this huge weight lifted off my shoulders. and the amount of embarrassment and shame I felt while telling them was nothing compared to how I feel now knowing I'm not hiding anything. so I really cannot thank you enough. so many of these coming out videos had immediate happy endings and knowing that even if everyone isn't immediately understanding and happy it's still okay. I just wanted you to know how your video directly impacted me. much love, layla
