I believe it only because you said so. Those dimples would never lie.

Wow, thanks for this! I’m a subscriber of yours who also has POTS and is non-binary but not all the way out, so this was a delight for me to watch. Thank you for sharing some of your journey, and I’d love to see more.

You're so welcome! I would love to make some videos on the intersection of disability and being trans (i.e. binder struggles w/POTS, struggling with health conditions that are mostly associated with women, etc.)

@@MeredithAleighaWells I would be the first in line to watch that kind of content! Thanks again for sharing with us, and Happy Pride!

Very cool to see this video, I'm also nonbinary and it's always nice to find other folks, especially it's very cool to see a fellow disabled nonbinary person. Best wishes on figuring yourself and finding what makes you comfortable, and I hope the rest of your coming out and transitioning journey goes well.

Hi ! I'm so happy for you, you look really good and happy about it, that's great ! You have a lot of courage, I am non-binary too and I start baby steps of my transition in the end of 2019 but I am so scared to came out in my medical care and discussed some thing who could maybe help my dysphoria because of the transphobia and the fact I really depend on medical care (chronic illness too, you know...) and that's also why I didn't change my paper with my new name. Some of my medical care like my psychotherapist know now, and I hope that with my work with her I will some day have the courage to talk about it to my generalist and ask to see specialize doctor. I live in Switzerland and things evolve, I know there are more formations about LGBT+ and trans specific in hospitals, but there's no list or information about doctors transfriendly (except gynecologist) so that's scary. But maybe one day, fingers cross. Take care of yourself Mer ;)

Sending much love! I definitely hear you on not knowing where physicians stand but needing their care that we have to hide parts of ourselves. It's definitely a really tough spot to be in and one that I'm definitely not entirely out of just yet. Happy that there is at least the trans/lgb friendly gynecologist there, my new pcp said "people with periods" yesterday and was so small yet made such a difference in my comfort. I hope everyone can experience that kind of comfort someday. Take Care!

@@MeredithAleighaWells Thank you for your sweet answer :) Yeah, there's some great LGBT friendly physicians out there, just really hard to find but hopefuly we get there. Take care of yourself too and all the best for all the little steps you will do in the future !

Oh yikes that doctor’s appointment is raising so many red flags for me. 1st off, you always have a right to refuse med students to be involved. They should be asking you, not telling you. Legally they’re in the wrong. 2nd, it’s highly questionable that when you got a new PCP, she did a chest and pelvic exam?! I have never in my life heard of any PCP doing that when they get a new patient. I’ve maybe heard of a few people getting full body exams, but what you experienced is NOT normal. Add on to that that they knew you were trans and would likely be uncomfortable with it, and the nurse called it a “breast exam”. The whole thing sounds like such a mess. I really hate to say it but the whole experience seems exploitative.-- you get a trans patent and your response is to bring in people to watch like they’re a sideshow and do sexual exams? That’s not normal. Honestly, it’s somewhat creepy. You shouldn’t have to go through that. Take it from someone who also switched to a new PCP who specializes in trans care. That is NOTHING like what my first appointment looked like. Even down to the language used by the nurses.

Hi there, I appreciate your concern. Just to clarify, they did ask if I was okay with Med Students, and I agreed to it. Also, they were asked to leave before any of the more intimate exams. I was a little dissatisfied with the nurse's comments, but my actual PCP I was happy with and was addressing some concerns with both exams. Some other folks I know in this program have criticized it being called a program because that makes it seem like everything is kinda laid out for you, many have argued it should change the wording from program to network, which I agree with because it definitely seemed like the nurses, and med students were not informed that I was nonbinary. Hope this helps clarify.
