I'm gonna live perform!

I could talk about this topic for HOURS. KiNK was a huge influence for me. Like you said, develop a palette and off you go. I've played 3 hour techno sets with just modular, 30 minute downtempo sets with just Zaquencer and a Blofeld in coffee shops, and more. I love the 'edge of my seat' vibe of an improvisational set.

I remember in one of Ricky Tinez's live set prep videos, he said something to the effect of 'don't give yourself too much to do' and I live by that. When performing live, you want the bumpers on the lane so you have more hits than misses. Know your instruments and lean into patterns that feel natural. Your palette isn't just about sound. Your palette should include reliable rhythmic patterns too.

I too have a few people I love to watch live perform, most of them in their own little hutch. The key I always hear when I ask is that they know their equipment and software very well. It is not about having the popular gear but more about having pieces of a puzzle fit well and under your control, which can only be done by doing it a lot. I am happy with your direction and wish you a lot a fun and adrenaline once the pieces start to fall in place.

With the touch screen I would consider the iPad tactile. Basically, it can be a surface controller and instrument in one device. Some of us use software modular and live host setups to get the flexibility. It’s all about the controller and mapping. Using a wind controller involves your mouth, breathing/phrasing, and both hands. So it’s very engaging from a physical perspective. I think virtual modular has so many advantages, at least for what I do.

Working on a mobile studio type deal, basically just a mini pc, with multiple touchscreens, built in audio interface, then if i can figure it out i want it to have a modular system so you can pop in a midi controller, or midi mixer, whatever.

Clicked the vid just to see your one-level semi-circle setup that I noticed in your banner. I have my synths on a three tier stand and am only realizing now that that's an issue for a 57 year-old like myself. Standing for too long is a problem. So I'll be taking tips and clues from your setup when adjusting my to a single level setup.

@@eavolski from IKEA. I’d have to look up the brands. Alex drawers I think. Can’t recall the desk name. Very happy with. I’ve had it since 2020.
